  • "This is the second time I had a chance to dine a keepers both times the wet ages steaks are just superb. The menu has many other dishes including lots of fish so it is not just a steak place. Service was outstanding and the atmosphere is ver good. I will make this a stop next time in Chicago."

  • "This was the first time anyone in our party had been to Keefer's. We were celebrating our mom's 60th birthday, complete with a surprise out of town guest. Our server Aaron was great. He was very knowledgeable and did an amazing job making my mom feel extra special. Aaron and the entire staff (including the owner) were all amazing. The food was wonderful, we had 4 steak dishes including the steak Diane appetizer (a favorite of my mom's), which was 1 of the best she has had in years! We will definitely be visiting Keefer's again soon. Hopefully the weather will be nicer and we can enjoy the wonderful patio next time."

  • "Excellent experience for my wife and I who were enjoying a romantic weekend getaway in Chicago to celebrate both her birthday & our wedding anniversary. Staff were all wonderful, service superb, & food/libations delicious. While each course was served in a timely fashion, we never felt rushed or delayed. Enjoyed the expansive view out onto the street behind the quiet of the curved window seating at what felt like an intimate table for two.."

  • "My husband and I had not been to Keefer's for years. Try to go to different restaurants when we go to Chicago. We had the same waitress we had nine years ago. You know a restaurant has to be on top if they can keep staff for that long. My husband had the Caesar salad and as the last time with anchovy's she made sure he had plenty. My steak was perfect Char -med rare, and my husband’s chicken was cooked to perfection. We won't wait 9yrs to go back again."

  • "The overall experience was good. Food, service and ambience were good. Prices were high but that can be expected at all downtown restaurants. Everyone at my table that had steak that was cooked exactly as ordered. Would I go back? Yes, but I wouldn't rush back."

  • "Best steak I've ever had, hands down. Server was very attentive, and knew menu front to back. Definitely be going back."

  • "All ok here with the only exception that my medium rare large delmonico was served on the well side of medium. My guests enjoyed their mahi mahi."

  • "I made reservations for my wife and my anniversary dinner, and I am SOOOO glad I did. The service was impeccable, friendly, attentive, and brought us a surprise chocolate souffle for dessert. The food was awesome! We ordered a scallops entree and a steak to share.. and the kitchen cut the steak off the bone before bringing it out, to make sharing easier. Just YUM!!"

  • "First time at Keefer's - we will be back. Our server Drew was fantastic, fun and very knowledgeable. We were celebrating two birthdays at our table of 5 and couldn't have asked for a better night. Dad is always a tough crowd when it comes to his steak; he loved every bite and after many Chicago Steakhouse experiences noted Keefer's was the best yet. Thanks for a great venue and menu for celebrating."

  • "Took my parents here when they were visiting out of town as opposed to the dozens of other steakhouses downtown. Our server was excellent - attentive to detail, including using extra caution when informed of a food allergy. The food was also excellent - my father all but licked his plate clean after eating the dover sole. Solid choice for an average night out dining to a special occasion restaurant with out-of-town guests."

  • "I had not been to Keefer's for several years. There were five people in our party for lunch. The atmosphere was more professional than at most lunch restaurants in the Loop area. I felt the prices were a bit excessive for the quality of food received. Nice place, but pricey."

  • "This restaurant got pretty good reviews from a few different websites. It's a cute place and the service was pretty good however the food was average at best. There was a party of six when we went and we had everything from steak, salmon, and lobster. The food was nothing to complain about however if you're looking for great food you may want to pick another place."

  • "Don't be fooled by the fact that their primary claim is as a steakhouse. The menu was extremely diverse and varied. Of the four in our party, only one had a steak. While that was excellent, the other 3 entrees were equally so. I had the tuna steak and it was prepared perfectly and presented the same way. Sides were good and big enough to share with 2 to 3 other people. Would strongly recommend the fried onion straws and the Hogan's peas. Martini was generous and worth the money. Everyone left full, satisfied and happy!"

  • "We had lovely time at Keefer's. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Mr. Keefer came to our table to check on us. The restaurant has a modern elegance AND neighborhood feel. Not easy in the midst of a very popular nightlife area in the city. We left after dinner to go find dessert and ended up back at the restaurant. Other spots were ridiculously noisy and so populated that we got the feeling it didn’t matter if we were there or not. We definitely felt welcomed back at Keefer’s. The food was really good. My husband had a bone-in steak and I had the pork (huge portion). Both dishes were cooked well and he even said the baked potato tasted better than average."

  • "This is our third time being at Keefer's. Great food, great service. We were rushed a tad but the wait staff but once we just said we want to enjoy the evening, they backed off. Would definitely go back. Desserts are a bit standard, nothing over the top special. But the appetizers and main entrees were great."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our "dating" anniversary here and were blown away by the food and service. We've been lucky enough to try most of the Steakhouses in the city and just love the vibe, ambiance, and attention to detail at this establishment. I feel great when I can put money in local establishments as opposed to the corporate machine, and it's great knowing that the local roots stay in place. The Bone-In Ribeye I ordered was marbled perfectly and cooked to perfection, my wife's Filet was juicy, tender, and bright red as she ordered. Side dishes were fantastic, hot, seasoned just right, and portioned well for two people. Our server went out of his way to take care of us, great time!!!"

  • "Just a great place to take your family, wife, significant other or a client to lunch or dinner. They know how to cook a steak and the seafood selections are fresh and good. The owner Glen Keefer is there just about all of the time and will come around, say hello to you and thank you for coming, If you have not eaten here yet, you owe it to yoursel to give this place a try."

  • "The nice thing about River North is that it is a great area to bring out of town guests. It has all the charm of Chicago without all the tourists. Keefers is a gem among the myriad of options in the neighborhood. Staff is amazing, food is great and the prices are more reasonable than the other steakhouses in the area. IMHO."

  • "We each had the filet mignon. The "petit" is 9 oz., perfectly prepared. Sides are a la carte, and delicious. We started with a Caesar salad, which our waiter was happy to split in two. Dessert was New York cheesecake, but a small cupcake size vs the "style" of a slice. Delicious fruit purée on the dessert. The wine? I found an interesting red from Croatia in my research. Great choice that complemented the whole meal. Go to Keefer's if you're looking for the classic steak house."

  • "Great St. Patty's Day lunch, complete with Sheppard's Pie, Guiness Stew, and Corned Beef and Cabbage. The Shannon Rovers Bag Pipe Corps was the cherry on top! A special day at a place that's always one of my faves."

  • "There are so many steak houses that it’s hard to distinguish one from the other. Many are chains that can be found in most major cities in the United States. Keefer’s is not that. It’s true Chicago. From the service to the food to the dining room, you will not be disappointed. Whether you are bringing your partner or a colleague I can’t think of anywhere else that puts you in command. There is not a bad dish on the menu and the portions are sized correctly, be it lunch or dinner."

  • "We were in Chicago for our first time and wanted a nice steak dinner and we definitely were pleased. The atmosphere, the service and the food were all terrific. We both ordered the Delmonico steak and they were cooked perfectly and were so tender they melted in our mouths. I had the Mushroom soup and my husband had the French onion and we both loved what we ordered. Our only complaint is that it is too far away from where we live so will not be able to eat there again any time soon."
