Diner Reviews
  • "I have always been a fan of Kaya's dinner menu but was pleasantly surprised by their brunch options. The items are just as fresh and creative as their dinner entrées but with a morning twist! I will certainly be taking friends and family when they come to visit."

  • "Always love this place! They have a great happy hour and overall good food. We ordered a burger to go at the end of our meal, and after a few minutes found they were out due to high volume that day. We were fine with that, stuff happens, right? Still, the manager came to our table and offered a substitute.....on her! They even comped one of the appetizers. This was all not necessary but a nice touch on their part. We'll be back!"

  • "For a Sunday night, we amble down to Kaya. The walk for the food was well worth it. As per the reviews, good food. Tasty and interesting as well. The front of the house is slipping. A bit too much in the hurry up mode, and ignored when we left. Success seems to have bred inattention for Kaya. Warning!"

  • "We have only been to Kaya twice, but both times were great experiences. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and attentive, and knowledgeable. We will certainly be back. Reservations are recommended."

  • "We brought our young daughters and our mom along for a special treat, and were very impressed by the food. The starters (lentil beignets, beet salad, field green salad) were great, our various entrees (salmon, veggie green curry, veggie paella, jerk chicken) were very tasty (we took half home), and desserts were very nice as well. Our servers were highly accommodating and helpful, and quickly brought some quesadillas for our daughters when they found their dishes a bit spicy for them. Overall, we highly recommend Kaya for special dinners on the town."

  • "Kaya is a great little spot for lunch or dinner in the Strip. Always very good food and a cozy, unique atmosphere. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend it for a date or meeting up with a friend!"

  • "Appetizers and entrees were excellent But noise level almost unbearable. However we expected that on a Friday nite"
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Great food that is also really interesting. Best cocktails in town. Keep it up - we need you!"

  • "very enjoyable dinner! would definitely go back. the only down side is the tight seating."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Had lots of vegetarian options. Both the service and the food was great but would go there only for special occasions. It is on the pricier side, but we did know it will be pricey before we went there. Little loud for our taste. More for young urban crowd than a family. We went with our 20 year old daughter - I am sure she wold have enjoyed it more with her friends."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "The appetizers and drinks were good. The fried chicken that is a special only on Thursdays was very disappointing. It should have been over the top good but instead my worse chicken was better."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Kaya is a GEM! The food is interesting and delicious. Their Vegeterian Options are unusual in the Pittsburgh Area. Great meal, great beer selections and great service. What more could you ask for."

  • "Every bite of tonight's fixed price vegetarian dinner was exquisite and flavorful - it never habituated on the palate - and every bite was perfectly paired with the wine selected. I could taste and enjoy each ingredient individually and together - wow. My favorite wild mushrooms were featured, but everything was exceptional. Wonderful service, great setting for conversation, as always."

  • "The Sunday Brunch menu is eclectic and awesome. Fried chicken and waffles were delicious, but the Chilaquilies with salsa verde and chorizo were authentic and to die for! Mimosas and Bloody Mary's the perfect way to start a leisurely Sunday. I highly recommend the ceviche as well, great presentation."

  • "We had Autumn as our waitress. She was knowledgeable and friendly and helped us make beer and small plate suggestions, allowing us to taste a couple of beers before deciding. The beet salad and shrimp seviche were delicious. Shrimp and avocado bruschetta was also really good. Will be back!"

  • "My boyfriend and I tried several things for dinner. We started with the tuna poke tacos and shrimp and scallop ceviche. The poke tacos were cute and bite sized. They were very tasty, but the sauce that came on them was a bit overpowering. Next time we'll ask for less sauce, or if we can get it on the side. The ceviche was pretty good, though could have used a little more heat. For the main course we had the mahi mahi, which was fantastic- flavorful and all parts of the dish complemented each other nicely, and the banh mi tacos. The tacos needed some hot sauce to spice up the smooth texture and flavor of the avocado. Our waitress was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, great dinner and we'll definitely be back!"

  • "Salmon looked and did taste great, but came out luke-warm. Had to ask for it to be heated up. Good beer selections."

  • "The flank steak was excellent. Fish tacos were very good as well."

  • "Recent snow made for a quiet slow Sunday but service and food quality were better than expected. Diverse and creative menu with something for everyone from burger to a number of vegetarian dishes. In general, relatively healthy offerings. Favorite was the arctic char appetizer (enough for 2) and green curry vegetables. Portions were more than necessary. Well curated beer list."

  • "Every time we dine here it never disappoints. The hot bean dip as an app is so delicious, as well as the mahi mahi with the coconut rice with mango. So good! Highly recommend!"

  • "Kaya is a cool place to meet friends for drinks and appetizers but plan to arrive early. If you don't snag a seat at the bar there is no place to stand without being in the way of diners or staff. It was quite noisy and to be honest my food was disappointing."

  • "Kaya never disappoints- the food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the management friendly and engaging. You really couldn't ask for anything more!"

  • "Everything I've tried at Kaya has been great. The bean dip, crab cakes, fish tacos, and chicken and waffles are awesome!"

  • "great vegetarian winter menu. egg/avocado appetizer and beet salad were fantastic. only thing i'd ding was the cauliflower gratin being *so* rich (and delicious!) that i wasn't really hungry for dessert when the time came."
    Dined on 2/19/2014
  • "My wife and I went to Kaya the night after Valentine's Day and had a very pleasant dinner. They still had their tasting menu from the previous day, which I ordered; my wife ordered a steak from that menu as an a la carte option. The mini poke tacos were fun and tasty. I thought the bread pudding dish was mildly disappointing, but very satisfyingly rich. My risotto was very good and my wife seemed to enjoy her steak. The pepper infused brownie for dessert was slightly too spicy to enjoy the richness of the flavor. Overall, it was a very good meal. Service was professional and attentive."

  • "OMG, Kaya's Sunday Brunch Rocks! Gotta try the Fried Chicken and Waffle, the Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict or the Huevos Rancheros with house mad Chorizo Sausage. Awesome drinks as well. We'll be back soon."

  • "My boyfriend and I dined here for valentines day and it was amazing. We made reservations but we arrived a little early and they were able to seat us. Our waitress was great, she recommended a drink, the graduate, which I ordered and loved. My boyfriend ordered the jerk pork quesadillas and I had the fish tacos, both of which I would recommend but the fish tacos were phenomenal. We also ordered the calamari to share, also very good. We will be going back here."

  • "Food was excellent - I had the Tropical Paella and all of the seafood was cooked perfectly. The rice had just enough spice and was not gummy at all. Would definitely recommend. Great place for a date!"

  • "Been to Kaya many times and always pleased. This time was no exception. The atmosphere is great, always great flavors in the food (and the food combinations aren't obscure and pretentious, as per the trendy food scenes) and the management and staff are fantastic. Monika is a wonderful and caring manager and her efforts and attitude carry through to her staff. Looking forward to our next visit!"
