Katsuya - LA LIVEChef's ChoiceMy sister and I told our server, Christina (who was great), to bring the chef's choice for us. Each plate that was set in front of us was perfection. From the presentation to the taste, it was some of the best sushi and sashimi I have ever tasted. Next time you are there, be daring and let the chef decide what you should eat!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantHad table waiting when we arrived and we were seated promptly. Our waitress new the menu very well and was able to provide excellent recommendations based on our requests. Drinks were excellent as well. The noise level of the restaurant got to be loud at times due to the music and crowd. Our waitress took care of us and we didn't feel as though we were being rushed to leave, which can happen at other dining locations.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Times! It was our first Katsuya experience. Had an awesome time. Service was excellent, even with regards to our 5 year old. They do not have a kids menu, but he ate well regardless.
Thank you for a great meal.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can do better.I am a fan of fine dining and am accustomed to small portions but this was ridiculous!! We spent almost $500.00 for four (thin/fit) people and we left hungry. We only had one bottle of wine so most of bill was on food. The food itself was OKAY, it all kind of tasted the same, nothing really super wowed any of us. Our main dishes all came out at different times which was very annoying; there were only maybe 7 tables taken at the time. They brought out and comped some very wonderful desserts without us asking or complaining so that helped save the night.
Ambiance and staff was great.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNot this time, but LAST timeNot this time, but LAST time we dined, we accidentally let my birthday present on the floor next to the table. Staff called me at the end of their shift and held it until I could return the next day. This was GREATLY appreciated! That's why we came back-- great food and I know I will be well cared for.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, wonderful service!I went to Katsuya Sunday night with a group of friends. We had a blast. The food was wonderful.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visited Katsuya beforeWe visited Katsuya before a Kings Hockey game at the Staples Center so this review may not be indicative of the restaurant on a non-event night. The service was fantastic. The food came out REALLY quickly which was great because we were heading to the game. Everyone was super helpful from the hosts, servers, and managers.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAll was good, except theyAll was good, except they ran out of the rib eye, they threw away the white rice before we were done with our meal, so we couldn't get seconds and the edamame took so long, we didn't want it any longer, so they took it off the bill.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place was packed - lotsThe place was packed - lots of great enery going on at LA Live that night, concerts, Clippers play off game - so I'm very glad I made ther reservations. Despite the crowds we had very attentive service with no long waits for food or drinks.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMconsistently good. great diningconsistently good. great dining place before concerts, shows, going out in downtown LA.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and amazingGreat service and amazing food. The portions aren't very large and a bit pricey, but perfect for a date night.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience, happy staff,Great experience, happy staff, good food. Much improved since our visit last year. A well run establishment!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe experience was awesome! The experience was awesome! I've been a dozen times and will continue to go!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI had been to Katsuya severalI had been to Katsuya several times over the past year when visiting LA... I was down this weekend for the NCAA Regional Finals. I could not have asked for a better experience.
We asked the waitress to pace the servings... So we actually ordered at three different times. The food was AWESOME. I thought the portions were good sized for Japanese.
But more importantly, we had an 8:00 reservation and were able to enjoy a great relaxed evening... We let at 10:00.
My recommendation is IF you are going to a game, you may not want to go to a 5Star restaurant and have to be out by 7:45...3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOur LA favorite!Katsuya is our "go-to" restaurant when we visit our daughter at USC ... not only did we celebrate her 18th birthday there at a private table, but we are there frequently to feast on our favorite dishes. Our recent dining experience was made even more special with our enthusiastic server, Liberty. She was so friendly and attentive! We are from OC, so with the Laguna location closed, expect to see us at the LA Live location even more often!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AML.A. Live option for JapaneseHad kids and a large group. Service was friendly and accommodating. Good food selections and a nice choice if you are dining in L.A. Live.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated next to Staples makesLocated next to Staples makes this a very popular place and was hopping the minute they opened for dinner servive at 5:00. Service was unusually quick for sushi. Attentive staff. Sushi was very fresh and delicious.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMwe usually go to the Katsuyawe usually go to the Katsuya in Brentwood and my daughter Nia who turned 18 on March 17 this is her favorite restaurant. We went to a Clipper game at Staples Center and we decided to go to Katsuya at LA LIVE. The service was OUTSTANDING from the hostess to our service they were both AMAZING. Since it was an early dinner I didnt get that ambiance of dining at a 5 star restaurant but it was still lovely.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMKatsuya more than just sushi! This was a great way to start the night before the Kings Game with an energetic vibe in the restaurant. The food was not only delicious but beautifully presented! The service was impeccable. The manager even compt part of our meal because it was taking awhile. The table we had was seated next to the sushi bar so we could see them creating beautiful dishes for people. Overall it was a great start to a fun evening!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA sushi convertI don't like sushi/sashimi, and went to this restaurant at the request of a client. But I tasted several of the others' choices, and I think I have been brought into the light! A fabulous dining experience, with great attentive service.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNot so so.Food was too salty and disappointing. I've eaten there before and the food was better. Maybe they just had an "off" night. Service, on the other hand, was very good.
I may give them another try.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food with Sex AppealGreat food with much sex appeal. Perfect for romantic evenings with your significant other. Now on my favorites list!3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
