  • "Birthday celebration at Hollywood Katsuya. What could be better. The selections are great and the servers are very friendly. We went on a Saturday night. As might be expected, the place was packed. We had a reservation and waited no more than 10- 15 minutes. The one constant is to order the "Lobster Dynamite". It's a fun and very tasty meal for a special occasion."

  • "I took my wife to the Hollywood Katsuya prior to seeing a play at the Pantages theater, just a block walk away. Had a great (and light) meal sharing some of their specialty sushi dishes like the spicy tuna with crispy rice....excellent! Another excellent selection (and I don't recall the specific name) but it was sashimi with a thin slice of jalapeno on a ponzu sauce. I wouldn't have thought pairing sashimi with jalapeno would work well, but it was excellent. Overall a great pre-theater experience."

  • "hosted are little snobby and there are too many of them behind a little welcome desk so they were bit busy chatting, wait even with reservation was over 15min, but the waitress are very professional and nice service is outrages and the food is just over the top. "

  • "Excellent food, we arrived early but we were seated fast. The bar is great, the waiter was friendly and the food was great."

  • "A second visit. While the style and flair has much of the same qualities of Nobu - and the Rock shrimp were similarly great - some of the dishes were less than stellar - especially the Ceviche just wasn't much flavors at all and undercooked by citrus. I'd certainly go back when in the area but with slightly diminished expectations. Very friendly server staff. Wish there was more space between the tables - always a bit unnerving to be able to hear the conversation at the next table. "

  • "A great restaurant that is trendy with a wonderful atmosphere. The cuisine is first rate and in our opinion tops Matsuhitsa. The service is first rate. "

  • "Waiters are not really friendly, as it's in a tourist spot. Food quality is not acceptable compared with the high price. "

  • "Disappointing all around. Food was nothing special. Restaurant was practically empty. Service was fine. All in all a disappointing experience and I would not come back."

  • "We love Katsuya, you can always count on good food no matter what city you dine at!"

  • "Katsuya Hollywood is a perfect dining spot for Pantages theater ticket holders! The food is great and they will time your meal to get you to the performance on time! Try the Wagyu beef with mushrooms, it's spectacular! Tuna with crispy rice noodles and jalapeno yellowtail sashimi are also my regulars! Park your car and the valet will keep it all night so you just walk across the street to the show! We love it here!"

  • "We ate here before a show at the Pantages and loved, loved, loved it! I don't eat sushi, but my husband does. He said it was absolutely wonderful. I had a steak that was amazing. Would highly recommend this to everyone, though it's not cheap. It is, however, well worth it for a treat."

  • "We had a great experience. We were a bit late to our reservation (prior to the attending the Pantages Theatre across the street) The place was packed. The hostess was so nice and got us a corner at the sushi bar. The waiter was on top of things…quick cocktails and a roll, the check and we were out of there. We got a bite and everyone was great!!! Will go back again and enjoy the beautiful setting and not be late!!!"

  • "I'm not sure if the manager has a new and relaxed style, but SBE usually has higher customer service standards than the more business than personality hostesses and low-key (almost "Whatever, I just got off my surfboard" waiter we had. The food is always great, portions are ok for some dishes and smaller for others at the table (same price range dishes)... overall the experience was "ehhhhh". Probably will just entertain business clients somewhere else they feel appreciated and just go their when we want a personal food fix..."

  • "Put all of the hype aside and this is a great restaurant! Our server Josh was excellent, the food was delicious and came put fast (Friday night at 8pm) and the whole staff understands service. One would think that a place that frequently makes it on TMZ would have an elitist attitude but it was really a great time!"

  • "Sushi was not bad, but honestly I prefer its sister restaurant Kiwami in Studio City."

  • "We had a fabulous time at Katsuya both for its incredible delectable gourmet sushi and for its really cool techno modern interior. We will return."

  • "Food, service, whole experience was fantastic! Highly recommended!"

  • "We had great drinks (watermelin mojitos!) and amazing sashimi - but the service was not great. Seemed like the staff was more interested in looking chic than in serving customers. The waiter who takes your order is not the person who delivers the food to your table... and when the waiter doesn't check in - he doesn't notice that one person didn't get their dinner. (in his defense - he did get it rushed to the table and then comp'd it) The food is really good, though. Would go again on date night!"

  • "I love sushi and was looking forward to trying Katsuya. The sushi was very mediocre and on average about $18/roll. The cocktails were good but a very weak pour. The decor was lacking and looked rather cheap. The best food item I had was a "wagyu" beef dish with mushrooms. I would not recommend going here for their sushi."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "It's always a dilemma when I dine here because I'm not a sushi fan, at all, but my best friend LOVES sushi! Hmmm . . . It's a good thing the cocktails there NEVER disappoint, and I mean NEVER! They're SO good! ALL of them! And my best friend just orders the yummy sushi, and I order a nice beef entree and off we go, two happy little piglets! Our server, a little Will Arnett look-alike, was darling, and took great care of us, thanks!"

  • "Katsuya is always a great dining experience. The food is amazing and so is the service. I would have given 5 stars, but had an issue with valet. We left our cars at valet for an event after dinner. The sign clearly states one rate if retrieved by 2:30am and also offers overnight parking. At 2am, we walked back to Katsuya to find valet gone. There was no indication on how or where our cars may be. I spoke with Valet the next day and they will try to better inform guests, their cars will be at REDBURY Hotel across the street."

  • "I've been to Katsuya in Brentwood. It was classy the service was impeccable. Hollywood Katsuya was a waste of time and money. The scene was happening, but I'll never go back there again I'm happy to spend my money somewhere else."

  • "So amazing is the sushi and all sea food at Katsuya! Love the location and the Ambience is ok but could use an update."

  • "The Hollywood location is one of the best Katsuyas. Totally satisfied our Katsuya craving, truly the best sushi restaurants!"
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "We've been to Katsuya a few times, but normally the downtown location. I like being able to dine outside at the downtown restaurant. Food is good, not great. I had the tasting menu, which I had before. Not sure if they changed, you used to be able to choose options. Service was okay. We've had awesome service in the past. At these prices, I want awesome service all the time. Table was too small for my party of five. They wouldn't move us."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We loved it! The sushi was phenomenonal! We had to return an appetizer, because we didn't care for it and it was very graciously accepted. The noise level was a little high for us but I think that could be corrected easily with adjustments to the acoustic design. All-in-all, it was a very pleasurable dining experience and We would all return."

  • "Lobster roll is phenom! Tasty happy hour drink menu as well. Can't go wrong here"

  • "Just a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Fabulously friendly, yet glamorous hostesses at the podium....Great server...a pro and sweet...too! Dishes were all sensational....I mean it...they were perfect. Had rolls, tempura, sashimi ...each the best I've ever had. I was gob-smacked, as they say!"

  • "Food as expected was excellent but of more importance; we arrived a little late because of traffic and had to make an 8:00 show, they managed to serve us our full meal and get us to the theater on time without it seeming rushed, good job."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Everything about Katsuya-Hollywood was excellent - the food, the ambiance, the service, even the price. Three of us ate various sushi rolls; one ate Tempura. We look forward to returning soon."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "Even by Hollywood standards, Katsuya lacks substance. The place looks beautiful and so do the attentive staff, but the food is just OK. And at these prices, that's a disappointment, especially in LA which is home to some truly spectacular Japanese restaurants. Still, the 30-something Industry hopefuls and TMZ tourist crowd don't seem to mind one bit."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "If you like sushi and alcohol, and you are attending an event at the Pantages Theater, Katsuya a should be at the top of your dinning list."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "Lovely place, rock shrimp is always a must have. If dessert is desired, be sure to order early or skip it. They're very accommodating towards guest who need to meet curtain call- just let them know! Drinks are bit overpriced. Favorite spot in the neighborhood."

  • "Took my sis there for her birthday with a group of 5 and everything was amazing! The cocktails, food, ambience, and our server was so awesome!"

  • "I have eaten there for lunch and dinner and enjoyed the food and the cosmopolitans. Excellent service too."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "We had a reservation at 8:30 and were not seated until around 10:00 pm. We saw at least 15 groups of people come in after us and be seated before us. Then once we were seated, we looked around and the restaurant was empty. They attempted to bring us appetizers since we were waiting so long, but only brought out Edemame & one other cheap appetizer. The food was not even anything special. Drinks were outrageous. NEVER GOING BACK."

  • "My husband and I ate here before a Sunday night show at the Pantages. Valet parking for the whole night $17, easy and convenient. We were sat right away with our reservations. Starters, drinks, food was all good. (Random) The Brussels Sprouts are actually good too! And don't forget the 15% off your bill when going to a show. Nice!"

  • "Love going here, the fish is really fresh and they have really good warm dishes as well."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "We had to rush through dinner because we had to wait over a half hour to be seated, despite having a reservation. Don't go here if you are trying to catch a play at the Pantages like we were. Food was great, but the wait-time to get a table killed what should have been a relaxing splurge dinner before the show."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "space is nicely designed but personally I think it's overly pricey for the quality and amount of food that was given. we ordered 10+ dishes between 4 girls and still not feeling full when we left so we went to a different place for desserts."
