Great place to before and/or after a show at the Pantages. It is a no brainer for us. The restaurant is always full, always loud and the food always delicious. The halibut cheeks were fantastic and the special sushi, which 50% of the cost went to support breast cancer, was equally as good. The challenge is always what to order among the many appetizing choices.

We have eaten at Katsuya numerous times, and have never been disappointed. The food is always soooo yummy, presentation is great, servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and the food comes quickly after ordering. Great restaurant to share many different rolls, appetizers etc. The Rock Shrimp are amazing as are the Brussel Sprouts! Many fun drinks on the menu as well.

Dined there on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Had tickets to see "Jersey Boys" at the Holywood Pantages. There were several restaurants in the area, but one of the pluses was the 15% discount if you had tickets for the show on that evening. It was also great that the restaurant opened at 4:00 in order for us to make the 6:30 show. The restaurant was very nice inside, the service was great and so was the food. The server was very helpful in recommending certain dishes for our table. We really enjoyed the food, and would recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I decided to dine at Katsuya prior to seeing a show at the Pantages Theatre. The food was delicious, melt in your mouth and the prices were just right. We would return to Katsuya again. As a parent I noticed other parents thier with thier children so I would say it is kid friendly, however, parents I recommend this a date spot.

The Golden Event menu was outstanding! The chef did not miss anything & was able to get each dish with multiple favors totally perfect! A really wonderful experience to have upscale authentic Chinese food so close. The gift at the end was a nice touch. The menu was certainly worth the expense. Looking forward to trying the chef's menu in London?

I don't like Asian food and I hate seafood. My wife wanted to go here before a show at the bowl- what else can I say... Can't wait to go back. Crab cakes and lobster tools were sooooooo good- the "dynamite sauce" was just that... So moist and flavorful cooked to perfection! Perfect place for a bunch of people to hang out and party- Ambiance awesome!

Went here mid week for dinner on the earlier side -7pm. Many intriguing rolls and appetizers. Waiter recommended the flash fried brussel sprouts and we had crispy rice with spicy tuna (much better than koi nyc's version). Sushi rolls were tasty . My favorite was the salmon with lemon...drinks were awesome. Had the pink grapefruit Cosmo...would definitely go back

I came here for my wedding anniversary over the weekend which was made clear to the restaurant when I booked the reservation. We were originally seated squeezed in a corner inches away from other people. I requested a nice seat seeing how it was our anniversary. We were told the other tables were for larger parties, however they never even filled up the entire time we were there. Finally, after about 15 minutes we were able to sit at a nicer table. The food was great, but slow to come out and the waiter was not attentive to us at all. Definitely not what I was expecting for our anniversary dinner and I wont be in a rush to come back.

Because Open Table says they are open to 1:00am, I assumed eating at 11pm would be fine. From the moment we sat down, the waiter seems rushed, whisking by the table quickly and never pausing more than a moment: a bit off putting). I was surprised when he informed me at 11:50 that kitchen was closing. I was annoyed. After leaving a 20%+ tip, I asked the waiter what time they closed ("whenever it gets quiet") and I told him the service sucked. His immediate response was to throw his arms up and say, "this conversation is over!" That was it. No sorry; no questions of why I thought that. I wanted to punch him. NOTE to open table: what's with the 1am closing time? I went back and looked at Katsura's website and they don't offer a closing time.

Went here before a show at the Pantages Theater, as it is diagonally across the street on the corner of Hollywood & Vine. Food & service was outstanding, but it's a bit pricey. I guess you get what you pay for. For starters, the Baked Crab Hand Rolls were excellent, but a bit pricey for 2 mini rolls. For entrees, I highly recommend the Panko Crusted Chicken Rolls, which are unique and filling (you get 6 rolls, looks like sushi rolls). My husband got Chicken Teriyaki which just melts in your mouth. He also ordered Sashimi (salmon & tuna), which I don't eat but he loved it! Skipped dessert, which all sounded good. Watermelon Cucumber Mojito was a great drink, again pricey at $9.00. Overall, for a special occasion, this was a great place.

We had a fine experience here last Thursday (8/21/14). The food was good, if not very expensive. Where the experience fell down was in our waiter. First, he oversold the Kobe beef only to come back to the table to say it wasn't available. Second, he then told us the otoro was the best in LA. It was very good, but far from the best in LA. It lacked the classic fat elements of great otoro.

This used to be a favorite place to go. About 5-6 years ago, this was the hot spot to be at and we loved getting dressed up and coming here. Now, however, in my older years, I have realized the truth about this place. I am a sushi fanatic, yet I never find myself here anymore. Why? Because there is MUCH better sushi for a MUCH better price. The prices are OUTLANDISH. And, really, for no reason. Sugarfish surpasses this place 10-fold. It is shocking to me that they are still in business! The only reason we came here was because we had a $30 birthday credit that expired in a few days and we really wanted sushi. They got us in and out within 45 minutes, and for two people, with one drink each and a $30 discount, it was still over $100.

The atmosphere was lively. A great ambience for a romantic meal. The food was excellent, portions are very generous, so be careful not to over order. Would recommend this restaurant but avoid Arthur as your waiter. As we were travelling with our two teenagers, it seems that we were not his type of customers. His service to our table was slow and inattentive. Compared to the service a couple next to us received, you would of thought we were a bother to him. Bad service is one thing, unequal service to tables separated by only 12 inches is unacceptable. Overall this is the kind of Japanese restaurant I do enjoy. The food is on the pricy side, however, I am willing to pay more for creative and outstanding food.
