  • "Really cool looking restaurant with delicious food and incredible service. Perfect spot to grab dinner before a night on Sunset."

  • "Our waiter was very knowledgable and outstanding... forgot his name but he was on his game. I believe the Manager stepped into help while he was away--which was very nice. The food was really good as well. Only two hits.. the waitress at the bar (that served us drinks while waiting to be seated) and the hostess that checked us in. Both not friendly at all and not inviting. Kind of got the stereotypical LA snooty personalities. It's not that big of a deal ladies, get over it. Be friendly and inviting. You set the tone for the rest of the experience, thankfully the rest of your team made up for the initial shortcomings. I'm nitpicking, but I'm doing it to make the whole experience a better experience for the future guests."

  • "We left the men behind and had a great girl's night out. Great food and drinks on a Sat night. The fish was excellent!"

  • "Great cocktails at the bar while waiting for the table. We arrived early just so we could enjoy the bar scene as well. Our table got ready sooner than our reservation. The food was excellent, as always: sashimi (sweet shrimp was especially good), some rolls and, of course, robatas ( wagyu beef was to die for). Katana is a great place to dine with a group of good friends before hitting LA's night life. It's not, however, the best place for a first date or a romantic dinner - it's way too vibrant. Absolutely check it out!"

  • "The stuff, from hosts to waiters give you an attitude, very inconsiderate and beyond slow!! Also, even with reservation be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes, much longer on the weekends, and if there so called celebrities in, you would be tossed aside "of never getting a good table!!' The bar is very limited, I asked for white wine selection and was offered only one choice by the glass, one choice???? Can you imagine, I guess in a local sport bar you will have minimum three !!!! The food, well after all exhaustion of waiting for table, one would assume the food should be amazing, yet it is just another disappointment, sushi/sashimi - below average, the rest is overlooked salty and greasy!!! Not to mention it's way too overpriced!!!"

  • "Food was fantastic. The place is very well kept and clean and the clients are all dressed for the occasion. The only things that were disappointing were that we were seated 1hr after our reservation time and when we brought it to the attention of the hostess, she had a major chip on her shoulder about it. That set us back a bit but once we were FINALLY seated our ooverall experience improved a bit."

  • "Food was excellent! Loved the small Robata yaki plates, the beef Wagyu is to die for."

  • "I've eaten at Katana a handful of times and come away each time more and more impressed with the consistently great service and food. Katana works great for groups/eating family style as the robata-yaki servings usually contain multiple pieces or are easily divided."

  • "Part of our party arrived early and we were starving. No tables available & no room at the bar, so hostess set up an area for us, and the manager brought over menus. One minute later waitresses took our drink order and highlighted which items were fastest and best. Each was friendlier & more attentive than the rest. Food was great & there in no time. When rest of our party arrived, the hostess noticed & immediately she came over and directed us to our table - which was already set up. Amazing service and given the restaurant was completely full at the time even more notable. Probably the best service at a restaurant I have been to in LA in a few years and the good was great. My friends from NYC were all happy with the food,"

  • "We ordered the tasting menu which was 54$ a person to taste a bunch of things. Food was great but each course came very quickly one after the other so it did not really seem like fine dining despite the ambiance. We wanted to sit back and relax and enjoy the dinner. My criticism is everything came out too quickly to sit back and enjoy."

  • "Many beautiful people, and beautiful dishes, but ultimately mediocre food at best. With so many establishments in LA serving truly outstanding sushi and Japanese food, this restaurant falls so short of the mark one is left wondering what justifies the dent this place creates in the wallet. Ultimately, it's the scene you pay for here and not the food."

  • "We so love this restaurant and have been back twice this month. The miso soup with clams is so good, the clams are fresh and also tender. We had a variety of the skewers which is a great choice because you get to try different things on the menu. The waygu skirt steak was unbelievable. I also recommend the cod skewer which is a favorite. We tried the tuna sashimi over arugula which is absolutely amazing! The yellowtail is also a great choice, it's the best I ever had. This is a fun place to bring friends because the it offers an upbeat atmosphere with outdoor dining overlooking Sunset Strip. We had the opportunity to meet Jason the manager and he does a great job taking care of the diners and making sure the restaurant runs effortlessly!"

  • "Excellent overall dining experience that has everything covered, great vibe, interesting dishes that all have great flavors to very good service. Stop here every time we visit LA."

  • "It was a hip and happening spot, and the food was great. Wasn't sure how to order the robata items, so we did the Izakaya Feast so that we could try everything and it was delicious!"

  • "Let's face it - when you're in a Japanese restaurant there's nothing better than interacting with such talented Chef's - Katana has some of the best in Los Angeles! The food, service and atmosphere is always excellent - especially at the Sushi Counter - my favorite spot for more than ten years!"

  • "We had reservations for 10:45 pm as those were the only ones available. We were ontime for our reservation and were seated outside...excellent seat. When we first met our waitress, she let us know that the last call for the kitchen was in 10 minutes. If you are going to accept reservations that late, you should allow your guests a little more time to make their selection. Having said that, the food was superb! We got the feast (chef's choice) and they even let us make the request for no ckn or beef since we are pescatarians. Everything was delicious with exception of the scallops...and they were still good. I would definitely come back for a celebration! The busboys provided perfect service - curteous, expedious, exceptional!"

  • "I love this restaurant. Food is outstanding and the rooms are beautiful. The waiters are absent minded and careless. For this class or dining and the prices charged the waitstaff should be better trained to get the orders right and requests attended to."

  • "I have gone to Katana over a dozen times, and every experience is great. The food is touch notch, and the service is always more than outstanding. It is worth the wait, and the ambience is just spectacular."

  • "service was great except for the bar, ordered appetizers and the bar tender never refilled our water and we sat there for an hour and a half. also would not pick up check and I had to ask the reception to run through the charges"

  • "The host were kinda rude !! The waiter was amazing . The food tasted like a gas grill and over cooked ! The shrimp was very chewy . I Have eaten here before and liked it so we drove up from Oc to eat here but I was not impressed . Chicken was over cooked with very little taste , aged beef tasted like gas with not very much taste . The three items that were good was the miso, rice and edamame . But seriously that should be good how hard is it to prepare those three ! Waiter was really nice and helpful but I deff expected it to be better . I'm not a chef but I could of definitely done better than that ! I'm not one to complain on these sites in fact I never have but I was disappointed for sure !"

  • "I waited at the bar 15 minutes to order a drink before dinner and gave up- as did the patron next to me. The hostesses and our waiter were extremely nice and very good. I used to eat here frequently - it had been 2 years since my last visit. The food simply wasn't as good as it used to be. The sushi, which used to melt in your mouth, was just average at best. The items from the robata grill had a very charcoal taste- like the grill needed to be cleaned. Always fun to people watch- nice ambience."

  • "First off i would like to say are server mauricio was on top of things. My water was never less than half full or half empty which ever you prefer. He did a terrific job of explaining the menu to my party and he was very prompt with everything. The food was really good. I really enjoyed the lobster with the miso glaze. It was a little cold so we sat inside but i really liked the outside patio. Hopefully next time its a little warmer."

  • "Had a group of 8 people and all the food came out at once, except for two entree rolls. Which came out 30 mins later. The waitress did not apologize and was completely rude when we told her we did not want them anymore."

  • "Great food quality sushi. Oh thing always have to wait For your table even if you have a reservation this time They also told us when to get up from the table they time us and the waitress came To remind. First time. Overall great ace!"

  • "This place has gone downhill beyond measure. Not only did they make my friends and I wait 45 minutes passed by reservation time, when I would approach the front desk I sensed a hint of attitude every time I would ask how much longer. I finished to cocktails at the bar waiting and then some. And then when we were finally seated, they sat us outside on the smallest table that came up to my knees. It seemed they wanted us to struggle eating. I'm a big guy and I need my room. It was a complete joke, so I didn't stand for it at all. We were so upset we just stood up and left. Drove straight to mastros and ate the most delicious steak ever. Now that place I recommend, best steak in LA. I will never return to Katana!!!"

  • "This is truly my go- to restaurant when I am in LA. The food, service, and ambience never disappoint.... and it is always fun seeing someone famous. I love Katana, and I love how the entire staff treats you like you are VIP. The food is really great, and the server we had explained if we were ordering too less of food and what would be ideal for a large group sharing. I always tell visiting friends that this is a must try!"

  • "Food was mediocre and the waiter seemed mad at us for some reason. The fromt of house staff were very nice however. The atmosphere was dated and touristy. Skip this place. Tons of better Japanese in the city."

  • "Great Food. Unique ways to order and taste many different foods and flavors. Tables are a little close to allow for private conversations or a romantic dinner for 2. But the food was excellant"

  • "I love the food, but am almost always crammed into the back at those tiny 2 person tables. I generally ask them to prepare a menu which they do spectacularly well. Pricey, usually a few hundred per person with wine. Wish they had something better for parties of 2. I go to Katana mostly due to the poor table options."

  • "Been to Katana a number of times an love it everytime. The Sushi is fresh and tasty while the main courses have variety and taste. Service and Ambiance are excellent as our server ( Bobby) made recomendations and was very attentive to our needs. All in all when I am in LA , I will always make time for Katana"
