Super location right on Sunset right near several entertainment venues. Definitely will be back with more friends! The server and the manager kept coming by to check on the service and the food. What was outstanding is that the server kept us abreast on where we were in the multi-course dish, not only on where we were but what was served and what was coming next. I have been to many high end restaurants and ordered an multi-course meal, and many expect you to have memorized all that you ordered. Few have kept us imformed on what was served and what was coming next.

The restaurant is very dark inside... a lot of stone decor, which is cool. You're greeted by the many sushi chefs as you are being seated. I think the tables are a little too close together, but that's just me. The seaweed and cucumber salad is delicious and a nice way to wake up your taste buds. We ordered the lychee flavored sake which is heaven on earth. You've gotta like it sweet though. The sushi is fresh, beautifully presented, and tasty. The waiter was very good about recommending dishes. It's a very busy restaurant and I think some of the wait staff was overwhelmed so don't be in a hurry. The hostesses were so understanding - kept our reservation for us. Had appetizers & drinks in the bar -delicious! Once everyone was seated, the girls had the omakase and enjoyed everything as each course was served to the group. Plenty of food for a crowd of hungry girls. The servers gave the girls great service and everyone had a wonderful time! We had the misfortune to leave our camera behind at the valet stand in the garage downstairs. When we called back later that evening, one of the staff went downstairs to check for us and found it!! The staff at Katana (cooks, servers, hostesses, and managers) really make this a stellar experience! From the minute you walk in and walk out, these people will make you feel like VIP :) Highly recommend the spicy tuna hanabi, sea bass skewers, any of the tuna carpaccio dishes (maguro with pesto and shiro maguro with crispy onions are delicious), also highly recommend grabbing a roll and the kitchen is very good about customizing it as needed (I always get light rice, so I can taste more fish AND eat more of course, and like to add shrimp tempura sometimes). The night was indeed memorable and set the bar extremely high for other restaurants. Josh and team created warm and inviting atmosphere, ambience was perfect, service impeccable and the food was divine!! Thanks guys, I'll be sure to come back with more friends:-)

Gorgeous wait staff who are also fun and punchy. Great time overall and this is my third/fourth time there. The managers are so friendly, Eiji and Paul always make us feel so welcome. Josh is an over-the-top amazing server, and I'm sure the other servers are as well (he's my regular whenever I visit LA). All we can say is WOW.. It is a very hip restaurant with great food. The service was warm and provided great insight into the menu.
