Anyway, I went on a rainy Wednesday evening, 6:45, and the place was a ghost town. The decor felt vibrant and had a homey atmosphere. My date and I were seated and had our water glasses filled promptly. Service was great all night, just the right amount of "check ins" For appetizers we split a "Mixed Appetizers" plate. The dish was fine, but nothing really stood out from the rest. For entrees, my date and I both had variations on chicken tikka masala, I had the standard and she had a healthier grilled version. The chicken was cooked excellent, not dry and plenty moist. The sauce was outstanding and was very hearty Price wise, Indian food is generally $12.00 - $15.00 per entree and both items were in that range. The appetizer was $8.00.

Because we have some vegetarians in our family, we thought we should do something besides the "traditional Easter ham" dinner at home. We chose Kashmir from the Open Table list of restaurants because it had tables open on Easter, it seemed like a fun alternative, and we were in the Salem NH area. Not the best decision.Truthfully, the food was OK, but the atmosphere was shabby. The interior of the restaurant looked like it had been allowed to decay over years and it appeared that nobody was making an effort to attract and retain customers. The place was mostly empty, yet the waiter was inattentive. In fact, the whole neighborhood has deteriorated since my youth. Not returning.

Service was poor. Lack staffing. Long wait for order and drinks. Would not go back due to service even though food was excellent.

Indian Cuisine can vary greatly. Sometimes it's mediocre at best. Kashmir Indian Cuisine was some of the best Indian Food I've eaten in the USA. They also have some very nice touches, such as bringing over hot towels to wash with. I felt like I was in First Class on a flight! Awesome restaurant. I'd definitely go again.
