A word from Kasbah Moroccan Restaurant
“Where you might least expect it, on Crown Hill, a hidden oasis of sensuous Moroccan ambiance and cuisine waits behind dusky peach walls. At Kasbah, the five-course D'yaffa feast is one of the city's best dining values. Your hands will be washed at the beginning, and then sprinkled with rosewater as the feast winds down.” Seattle PI

The scene
Low couches, embroidered leather cushions, layered carpets and jewel-toned hanging lamps: This dining room feels a long way from Seattle. Two spacious dining areas allow for a choice between luxuriant privacy or a prime seat during one of the belly dance shows.

Diner Reviews
  • "There were 4 of us and we all had something different, and then shared what we ordered. Everything was fantastic. My favorite is the Apricot Chicken. It's a bit dark, but the wait staff gave us a small flashlight to read the menu easier. We will be back!"

  • "Such a unique place and a very good experience for anyone who has yet to try Moroccan food! 4 course dinner is a great choice, very fulling and good quantities of food, great place for groups and celebrations. I love this place!"

  • "The Kasbah is one of my favorite neighborhood gems! I live close by so i enjoy going over for the great food and friendly employees. The lamb is phenomenal as well, one of my favorite places to go."

  • "I went to the Kasbah a few times and i recently went with my friend and every time our experience gets better and better. The food is fantastic, the service and employees are very friendly as well which makes us look forward to our experience each time. I love the lamb they serve, it is the best lamb i have had. The trio salad with the dipping bread is to die for! The food in general is great and we will always come back!"

  • "Really enjoyed the food, all well-prepared, tasty. Their Kasbah chicken bastilla was the biggest hit, but all food was enjoyable. Cost adds up, but I'd come back -- it's quite a unique experience."

  • "I went to the Kasbah with a couple of friends on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was great and the service was as well. We ordered the 4 course dinner and it was a great decision because the soup was delicious and our lamb and chicken entrees were flavorful. It was an amazing experience, my friends and I will definitely be back soon! "

  • "My husband and I reserved a table at this restaurant for Valentine's Day. The menu was a 5 course feast with a choice of entree. Each course was delicious - seafood soup, a trio of salads, a lamb appetizer - then the entrees, I had cornish hen in a sauce of preserved lemons and olives (excellent!). My husband had lamb shank with eggplant. Even the dessert was special - a chocolate mousse cake. And with that we got a floor show with a wonderful belly dancer. A great evening! We will be sure to return to the restaurant even on an ordinary night out in the future."

  • "Very nice, the food was great, although the waiters seemed to take a long time to bring the food and we were hungry. Great food, the belly dancer was amazing,We really enjoyed it even thought it was rather expensive. We would love to go more often but way to expensive"

  • "I really had no clue what Moroccan food was, and am not exactly crazy about the taste of lamb. Our food was all preplanned because we went on Valentine's Day and they had a special five course meal (the only thing I got to pick was the entree). The food was amazingly good (my husband had the lamb and I had a cornish hen). Each course just got better and better! At first I was a bit sad that my coupon didn't apply to that evening meal, but after the meal, I was so happy we get to come back again and enjoy their regular menu and use my coupon. Coupon or not, we would be back. The atmosphere made this a really nice experience and the service was wonderful & the wait staff very attentive. Thank you Kasbah for a really enjoyable evening!"

  • "While I would normally recommend this restaurant for their Classic Chicken Bastilla and their delicious couscous T'faya, we showed up on this special romantic evening and was told, we are only serving lamb tonight... What a let down. Sure you could have your lamb 1 of 6 different ways but nothing matters when you're anticipating chicken with couscous. Other than that, food was fine, and the dancing was entertaining."

  • "We went on a Tuesday. It was quiet, only a few other customers. We ordered the four course dinner. All the courses were delicious, especially the appetizer, which was served in a flaky pastry shell. It was plenty of food, we took most of the second entree home."

  • "I enjoyed the 5 course meal at Kasbah with my girlfriend and 2 friends of ours. Food there is always good. A bit different than Marakesh downtown. I prefer the pillow seats over chairs and unfortunately there are no belly dancers on the weekdays."

  • "We have been here several times to celebrate special occasions. It is consistently a fun place with excellent service and a very friendly engaging owner. They have 3 - 5 course family style meals that are so delicious that you remember each part of it and can't wait to have it the next time that you are there. Our group always goes for the 5 course meal because those 2 extra dishes are amazing! The restaurant is beautifully decorated so that you feel like you are in a Moroccan tent. They have replaced the little padded backless tuffets with chairs now and have added eating utensils instead of eating with your fingers but it still feels like you are transported, for a little while, to another place. Highly recommend this place to anyone."

  • "We've been to the Kasbah Restaurant a few times and never been disappointed. We order the 4 course dinner because we love all the delicious flavors, but we're not into dessert. If you like to end with sweets I'm sure the dessert is good. You'll get a lot of food and the service is fantastic. They will help you select dishes that you like (sweeter or more savory) if you just ask and they're really nice about it. I love the atmosphere."

  • "We went on Christmas day and it was busy, but our service and food were fine. We enjoyed the rich spices and new to us dishes."

  • "We both had lamb. Food tasted great, but portions could have been bigger. Ambience was soothing and comfortable, except for the tables. They were brass gong-shaped disks balanced on an adjustable pedestal. I almost tipped it over. You had a choice of seats: boot-type benches on one side; chairs on the other. The bench was worn and lumpy. The table was so low that if you sat in a chair you were hunched over in a vain attempt to reach your food. Not at all comfortable. The waitress who served the table next to us was dressed nicely and very personable. Our waiter was dressed in rumpled pants and an old wrinkled shirt, not even tucked in. In short,I thought he looked like a slob. I seriously considered not even leaving a tip."

  • "I really enjoy this restaurant every time we go. Get the 4 course dinner so you get the soup, salad and appetizer (can't remember what it's called but it's delicious). The people there are quite friendly and helpful and will make sure you order food that you will like, just tell them what you like. :-)"

  • "We enjoyed our dinner. The food was yummy and flavorful. The seating is a bit awkward if you are not at a corner table..too close to other patrons. There was only one waiter waiting on the whole restaurant on a Friday night."

  • "Don't judge a book by its cover. Though the Kasbah does not look like much from the outside, the ambience on the inside was colorful and vibrant with romantic seating. The music was pleasant and the FOOD was exceptional as was the service provided. Will definitely be back."

  • "for finding Kasbah open on Thanksgiving! Dining way better than turkey, The lamb bastilla was superb! The restaurant did a fine job of dining courses - plenty to eat, served piping hot, lots of complex flavors, a fine change from the traditional Thanksgiving dinner - and no dishes to wash,,, We'll be back"

  • "The servers need to be more attentive. After I said I needed a little more time to decide what I would order, the server waited way too long to return to the table to take the order. Our water glasses sat empty for a long time. It took forever for our check to arrive (in fact, in never did and we had to get up and walk to the cash register area before it was produced). The prices are too high for the quantity and quality of the food."

  • "Kasbah is a very good neighborhood gem. The food was very good and service excellent with many choices. This was our first time for Moroccan and we were a bit hesitant but the waitress was very helpful and the menu has recommendations too. Don't worry you have a knife and fork so there's no eating with your fingers. We will be back soon."

  • "I was new to Moroccan food, so this place was a pretty good intro. They were helpful with recommendations and answering questions. While the food was great, the service lacked a little (given they close at 10, and we sat down at 8:45), we never received water refills in the hour and a half we were there. Additionally, while their house wine was good, I would have loved to try a Moroccan wine, but the descriptions were not helpful."

  • "We took some friends with us and traveled quite a distance to experience something different. We were VERY disappointed. We were looking forword to the Belly Dancers. The food wasn't bad. A little over priced since it didn't include entertainment. The server made us feel rushed as if they just wanted out of there and we were keeping them. Others we spoke to in the resturaunt seemed to be just as disappointed. We wouldn't go back again even if we were in the neighborhood."
    Dined on 8/23/2013
  • "The food was just OK. Bread was a loaf of white bread, not pita bread so it didn't work well for scooping up the food. The waitress was efficient but didn't add to the ambiance at all. Beautiful décor. I would not return."

  • "I took my friend out for her birthday. Everything was stellar. The food and cocktails were delicious. The service was courteous and prompt. We each got different dishes and they were all flavorful, beautifully plated, and unique. The scarves draped from the ceiling gave it a tent like feel and the lighting was soft. The belly dancer was a nice touch. Haven't had mint tea so good since I was in Morocco. It's a very authentic experience."

  • "We have been to Kasbah a number of times and always have a wonderful meal in a lovely environment. We invited friends to join us who had never been previously. They loved the food, the decor and the ambience, as did we."

  • "we had been planned to visit Kasbah for ages and made it during Happy Hour on a Tuesday. We enjoyed the Happy Hour menu entrees (keftah tagine and fish shamoula, plus trio of salads) and ordered lamb bastilla as an appetizer. For dessert we split the kasbah Cake and ice cream; I don't think Kasbah Cake is particularly Moroccan but it was delicious with drizzled chocolate, caramelized apples, coconut rose water. Portions were generous even for "happy hour" but we ate it all! Everything was beautifully presented, served at the correct temperature, and well seasoned. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive but did not hover or rush us. Our one minor criticism was the texture of the keftah; a bit dry, but the flavor was excellent!"

  • "For me, a diehard cheapskate, it was a little pricey. But for everyone else, it is probably average. We had a party of 12, four-course dinner, for around $300. (People paid for their own drinks, though, so that was not included.) We had a wonderful time, belly-dancer and all. We celebrated my son's 50th birthday. A young man who was with us said he can't wait to bring his girlfriend there."
