A word from Kao Tong Modern Thai
The striking orange and gold décor at Boca's brand new, sleek Kao Tong Modern Thai Restaurant just hints at the extraordinary quality of their food. Sink into a posh white leather chair and get ready for a stunning mix of traditional and cutting-edge Thai dishes that will surprise and comfort you at the same time.

Settle in with a Thai Iced Tea while designing your special feast, beginning with a bowl of the most luscious Tom Yum Soup; hot and sour, soothing and spicy. For a Siamese twist on pigs in a blanket, try a marinated Shrimp in a Blanket, dipped into a sweet Chili Sauce. Red, green and yellow Curries; Rice Bowls with either brown or white grains; Pad Woon Sen Noodles with a garden of vegetables in a tangle of clear glass noodles; classic Pad Thai with chicken, shrimp, tofu or lobster; and a lemony, minty Ocean Salad of fresh shrimp, scallop, mussels and veggies --your table is a rainbow of vibrant colors and flavors!

Great portions, excellent flavors and the spices and heat can be whatever you desire. Fair prices. Curry had nice flavors and Pad Thai noodles with chicken was perfectly done! We will be back!

My wife and I had dinner and we both thought that the food and the service were very good. The atmosphere was nice. We both really enjoy eating Thai food and we do have our favorites. Unfortunately, Kao Tong, while very good, didn't quite measure up to our desires. Still, it was an enjoyable experience and I would recommend to anyone to try it and form their own opinion.

Food was pretty good. Service was really slow and they got confused a few times. When the check came back they assumed the change was their tip and didn't even bring it to the table. It was over 20% for really weak service but I let it go and won't return.

This quiet, unpretentious place turns out some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten... and I've eaten a lot! The sauces are prepared perfectly, presentation is lovely, and the food is to die for. I especially especially recommend the Bangkok roti, a magnificent masamam curry served with Indian roti. One if those dishes you want to lick the dish when you're done!

We have lived here 17 years and have been searching for a great Thai restaurant as we moved from the Washington, DC area. We now have found it in Kao Tong. The food and service are excellent and the ambience is great. We recommend it highly and look forward to returning. You will not be disappointed!

We have now been to Kao Tong twice and enjoyed it both times. The restaurant has very fresh and very good Thai food. The waiters are very attentive and try to be very helpful. The music in the restaurant is very nice and not at all too loud. It was an overall very good experience at a very reasonable price.

It's an easy to miss restaurant (no sign outside), but the mood was great, the decor is nice without being overblown, and the service was fantastic. We had a group reservation for fifteen, and they called to confirm the day of, and had the table set aside when we got there. The service was great (no complaints there), there was a nice selection of food, and the price was good for the portions and ambiance. Five stars!

  • One hit not so wonderful

I'd gotten a mailer, the menu looked great and the place looked nice. Thought it would be a fun quiet place for a birthday dinner with family...Very dissapointed. The food was good...not fabulous. The duck spring rolls were good. There were 4 of us and the table wasn't large enough for us AND the food...tables are really tiny. Fortunately the chairs were comfortable. The service wasn't good at all. Too long of a wait time for our food to be served..We had to ask if there was a problem.we probably waited 20 min for our appetizers. We ordered 3...2 came first then we had to remind them about the 3rd one. Since they did not come around to "check" on us, I would have to get up from my chair to ask for things. No TP in the ladies room.

This is a pretty restaurant with a nice menu. However the wait staff is unfamiliar with what they offer and challenged in the ability to communicate with dinners. It was not a positive experience. They need assistance by a person with restaurant experience and a good working knowledge of English.

I am a Thai food fanatic and had high hopes for Kao Tong, but I ended up disappointed though I believe they are new so maybe they just need some time. I believe they were running a holiday special where they offered us a complimentary glass of wine with dinner, but we were the only ones there which makes the experience a little awkward. I thought the food was ok, but nothing to come back for, though my dining partner disagreed and liked his massaman curry. The server was friendly and knowledgeable - I just felt it was a forgettable meal.

Enjoyable experience, well worth it. We are very critical of restaurants having traveled to over 60 countries in our careers and found this exceptional among hundreds of restaurants we have experienced.

We had seen that Kao Tong Modern Thai opened recently not far from us. We decided to go there on a Saturday night, just my husband and me. We were a bit nervous since the previous 2 restaurants that have occupied that space had closed. But, we were looking for something different, and tried it. Glad we did! I had the Tom Kha Gai soup. I do believe it's the best I've ever tried! The lemongrass shone and it, like all the entrees and apps, was steaming hot! My husband had the Won ton soup with dumplings, which were good and plump, but nothing compared to my soup! He ordered Pad Thai and I got the Red Curry. Not original, but let me tell you, it was all perfectly executed. Hot, a bit spicy and so flavorful. As an aside, they di

Very attractive setting on avenue and interior is modern, comfortable seating. Downside was service....we made it clear we were having appetizers (three of us, each ordering 1 appetizer each) and while the server acknowledged our request for the appetizers served first, one appetizer came out, then that person'e entree before the other 2 appetizers drifted out....we had to send back the main dishes and cope with eating the appetizers as they came instead of together as we wished. food was good quality and portions ample. Would go back but would order appetizers and after that order the entrees to avoid confusion.
