"We were first time guests at Whiteface Lodge which is where Kanu is located. Over the years we have eaten at a lot of restaurants in Lake Placid. Kanu was hands down the best experience we have ever had. Food was wonderful, portions were large, service was attentive, prices were reasonable. We had a similar experience the following night. We would highly recommend Kanu."

"We didn't have the best seats in the house but the dinner was quite good. I tried braised pork cheeks and we had a nice wine to match. My son ordered medium rare beef and it was rarer than that but he still enjoyed it."

"Eating dinner at a hotel is always a bit of a gamble for me, most times it is an understandable disappointment. Kanu is a great exception to that rule. The main dining room is a typical lodge like room - several storey high ceiling, huge wood burning fireplaces with various large mounted wildlife creatures scattered around the walls. Now the food - the wood grilled pizzas are excellent with one set margarita and one special which had high quality, imaginative toppings. Salads were fresh and tasty - addition of several large wonderful grilled shrimp was worth the extra dollars. Entrees were creative and well executed; Of note was the braised pork cheeks with gnocchi and roasted parsnips and squash.
One down note the fries - salt."

"Second to none. Kanu Restaurant and Lounge is excellent. From the live music (although a bit loud) in the lounge, massive fireplaces and "at home" feeling, this place was amazing. The architectural detail in this lodge simply has to been seen. The dining room is beautiful, romantic, and relaxing. The staff was incredible-from the servers, the extremely courteous and helpful sommelier to the staff restocking the wood in the fireplace. The food was equally as delightful, the duck and foie gras sausage was savory and light while the Filet was cooked perfectly. Expecting a romantic evening we were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of Kanu and will be returning for many years to come. Thank you."

"The entire resort is amazing. Breakfast room service was great both times I ordered. Dinner in the dining room was descent but unremarkable. I enjoyed dinner very much, what a fantastic room and great people. When ordering beef it generally comes out cooked a bit less than you order it. In this case it was WAAAYYY under cooked. It came with a blue cheese topping which if I had heard it in the waitress' description I would not have ordered the beef. (my wife confirmed that the waitress did indeed mention it so it's my fault) Blue cheese in my opinion is way too strong a flavor to use for beef. Over all a great weekend with a very acceptable meal in a fantastic atmosphere. I will definitely return."
