Diner Reviews
  • "Food is average and service was slow. View is incredible"

  • "Have enjoyed this rest before, but this time was not impressed. First issue was wind. Had a beautiful outside table but wind was really an issue. Not the restaurant's fault, but we were reseated next to a table with kids and there were tables around that were more intimate for a couple. Then food was delivered by other than our original waiter and was COLD. Not just warm, but cold to the touch. Wondered why the waiter didn't notice when touching the plate to serve. Waited for new plates and never received an apology of any sort for the staff. Expensive for that sort of service! Will not return soon."

  • "Food was very good; service was attentive, and not stifling. To start, I had some of the best mai tais from a bar/restaurant on Hawaii Island...and we live here. We can say the same for the Keoki coffee after dinner. I had the lobster which was slightly under cooked, but still very good. My husband had the steak and lobster, which was fantastic. We wanted to be outside, but the wind was too strong to be comfortable out there, so had a corner table inside with views of the ocean. We were out of the restaurant traffic, and could enjoy our anniversary. We would certainly go there again!!"

  • "We all loved our food--no doubt! They were very accommodating to our tastes and the wine was excellent. Warren our server was great and the manager was helping out all around which I love to see. My only complaint is the website shows you dining on the sand near the ocean. That is what I thought we were doing. We sit at tables overlooking the beach. We were not even next to the edge to see the water but farther back. I purposely set this up for that reason at sunset. A little disappointed in that as I felt it was misleading but the food was fantastic!"

  • "We were looking for an ocean side restaurant for dinner and a view of the sunset. This restaurant has tables as close as possible to the shore and and an incredible view of the spectacular sunset. The service was the best that we have had anywhere as our waitress was so very helpful with menu selections The food was delicious, but expect to pay top dollar. Save room for the mudslide dessert to share with your dinner companion. It's outstanding!"

  • "Sat at a front row table overlooking beach. Gorgeous view! Time dinner for the sunset. Best view ever! My expectations for an upscale restaurant is to have upscale sevice. Our server was just that. He quickly corrected any issues we had and wasn't overbearing to any point. The food was good. Surf and turf was delicious. Portions were ok. Overall, it was a very romantic dinner. Food was good and the view was beautiful. Happy wife, happy Life!!!"

  • "The place is beautiful and the service excellent! I was disappointed that it was not more vegetarian friendly."

  • "Four of us dined at KPC. We all loved the food and were dazzled by the beautiful view and setting. So far, my favorite dining experience in Hawaii."

  • "pretty standard steak+seafood choices, but overall good food. service was excellent, attentive and helpful without being pushy or distracting. good location for sunset view but surprisingly limited number of view tables."

  • "My wife and I reserved a table near the water for a romantic dinner. Make sure you reserve a table around 6pm if you want to catch the sunset. The food and overall service is very quick. We were done with appetizers and dinner by 7pm. The sunset was perfect and you could watch the whales off the beach as they passed. Excellent location and food."

  • "Our second visit. Unexpected rain required us to sit inside this time. Restaurant is well designed - and the meal was perfect. We were fortunate to have the same server we had last time."

  • "We dined three (3) times while we were on vacation. Not once did we have a bad experience. Everything about KPC is outstanding. We would recommend this restaurant to any one. Our one night a wedding party was having dinner and that is why I moved the noise level up to the second level."

  • "We asked for a reservation on the water, we received a phone call confirming a water view. When we got there we got a table inside. The worst service ever, he never came to check on us. When we received our bill I figured out why. We had a party of 6 so it was an automatic tip added, so he didn't really care it was a bill over $400. Food was very good though. This is our 5th time staying at the Hilton and have gone to this restaurant many times. Last year I wrote a review about the Japanese Restaurant here and it was fabulous. Our last time at this place though."

  • "I had a group of six for dinner here. We all (including a young food critic/blogger) concluded that the food was very good. As well as the location on the ocean - the ambience is great. But service was sub-standard. We were ignored most of the evening. After one round of drinks, late in the meal, they cleared our drink cups and never asked if we'd like another... After a few hours, we had to ask someone other than our waiter to bring the check. I was annoyed to see a service fee on the bill after the weak service. I normally tip high, but after the poor service, this really felt wrong. I must, again, mention the food was great, and I hope the mediocre service was an anomaly. I would give it another chance..."

  • "only thing that killed the moment would have been all the foot traffic, runners, people off the beach coming and going thru the sidewalk/stairwell that we sat directly next too."
    Dined on 3/27/2014
  • "Beautiful setting, attentive service, good (not spectacular) food. For the high price, was expecting spectacular. My wife's mahi-mahi came out cold so we sent it back. They were very good about it and there was no fuss. The second serving was much better."

  • "Wonderful spot inside one of the mega resorts in Waikola. Large outdoor patio with great ocean views perfect for sunset viewing. Expensive but epitome of Hawaii resort dining. Well worth it for special occasion or just a perfect evening. Typical mix of local seafood grass fed beef etc. Expect to spend $100/person but can't duplicate "back home" no matter where you live! Highly recommended."

  • "My wife and I dined here as part our trip to Hawaii for our 25th anniversary. I had scoped out a table in advance along the lava rock rock walk with a view of the ocean and sunset which I requested on the reservation. The table was set with special linens and ready when we arrived. We had a great and very reasonably priced bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne along with our fabulous meal of red snapper served with pearl couscous and spinach. For dessert, my wife greatly enjoyed the coconut creme brûlée served in a coconut shell on a bed a whipped cream. We watched the sun sink into the Pacific while we finished our champagne. We'll be back next year!"

  • "Watched the sunset from table. The steak was perfect. The only negative was that we were seated next to a wedding reception group that was very loud. The group kept getting louder and louder as the evening wore on. The little kids in the group were seated together near us with little adult supervision. They threw food on the floor and were in and out of their chairs constantly."

  • "This restaurant is part of the Hilton Waikoloa complex. It is located directly above the beach with a spectacular view of the Pacific and Anaehoomalu (A) Bay. The prices are very high and the food while good is nothing special. Service is uninspired. Go here only if you want a great view while dining at sunset."

  • "What can we say about KPC that hasn't already been said?! It's an incredible view, excellent service and amazing food. This as our 2nd dining experience here and it was just as good as the first. Mahalo for a lovely evening. Captain & Mrs. Bill Dodge Pearl Harbor, HI"

  • "The view and service were was wonderful! The food disappointing. I had seafood linguini which was so spicy I couldn't enjoy it because my mouth was on fire. I asked for medium spice, so maybe our definition of medium is different, but it was so hot I couldn't eat it. We tried to eat here a second night because all the reviews raved about the food. This time I ordered the special which was blackened moon fish and lobster. It was dry and not buttery and melt in your mouth like moon fish should be. My lobster was cold! My husband also ordered the special but his was better. Everything else was excellent including dessert."

  • "We always look forward to dinner here when we stay at the Hilton. It is always one of the most memorable parts of our vacation."

  • "Visited KPC upon recommendation from a Travel Agent. It is a gorgeous setting overlooking the water with tables outside. A romantic setting for sure! The food was good but the service was just marginal. There were a couple of big groups so I am sure that is what held up our service. The Corn Lobster Chowder was excellent."

  • "My wife and became engaged at KPC and we make it a point to get back there as often as possible with our busy schedules The food, atmosphere wine list, everything is always exceptional. Depending on the wait staff, you may get someone that was perhaps busier than the rest, but overall still a great restaurant. I even pre-ordered a bottle of "J" that they don't usually carry and they made sure it was there. Thanks for a great evening and as always, we'll be back!"

  • "If you are looking for a quiet dinner next to fascinating surf, this is the place. Food is more than adequate but the atmosphere and service are supurb!"

  • "I took my wife to this restaurant and booked it months in advance but still didn't get my front row view of the sunset. It was beautiful and the food was good. It was disappointing to have gnats in my food as we were about half way through. We were unable to finish but at least it was good to that point. The manager was slow to react and her response to something she admittedly knew about was weak. The server was good, personable and had great recomendations."

  • "Beautiful restsurant in the most picturesque setting you can imagine. The food was out of this world, but so were the prices! Great for a very special occasion."
    Dined on 3/3/2014
  • "The lighting is so bright, with spotlights directly in your face, that the ambiance was more appropriate for a McDonald's than a fine restaurant. Adding to this lack of ambiance is the fact that many of the formica tables didn't even have tablecloths. The restaurant desperately needs a make-over."

  • "Our server acted like a robot. No personality. Spoke the same way to every table."

  • "What a pleasant surprise. Based on the quality of food and service it was hard to believe I was at a hotel restaurant. The view was spectacular. The lanai was busy, but quiet. The waiter was spot on.The seating provided intimacy with plenty of room. I look forward to returning. What a nice meal and evening."

  • "This is an awesome dining experience if u make there on time for sunset. Food is from another world awesome!!!! Only prices are very high.. But great special occasion for us was our anniversary so I got some extra scores that night..."

  • "We had the most amazing dinner experience here! Our waiter Warren was amazing, we are staying at the Hilton for our honeymoon and to celebrate our honeymoon we had complimentary dessert! We loved it so much we are going back tonight :) five stars!!!"

  • "KPC had some of the best reviews in Kohala, so we had to try it! The food was surprisingly good for a huge resort. Service was as might be expected during a busy "ski week" time period: Satisfactory, never slow. Our server was friendly, and noticed immediately when my daughter's steak was underdone. You will never forget that you are at a massive place, but it was worth the 20 minute drive from our resort."

  • "On the point, at sunset at the Hilton Waikoloa. Food and service was great. The only noise was the waves crashing on the rocks. Besides a great sunset, we had whales providing entertainment. It doesn't get any better."

  • "Second time here at the Hilton Waikaloa. Enjoying my 35th anniversary trip. Kicked off the trip at KPC. Food was very good. Had the cowboy ribeye. My wife the fish. All done well with great flavors. Service was outstanding, including recognizing out anniversary, leveling a table and prompt, but not pushy service. Outside seating at sunset is fabulous."
