Diner Reviews
  • "We went for the Independence Day celebration on August 17th. They had a wonderful buffet to celebrate. It was so delicious. They brought appetizers to the table and you could help your self to the buffet. There were just the right number of dishes, and they were so flavorful. Our taste buds were awaken. It also came with a choice of dessert: rice pudding or ice cream. We chose the ice cream. It was out of this world. The flavor was mango passion with dark chocolate chips. It was delicious!!! Turns out they provide the ingredients for the ice cream to Tates (the awesome ice cream shop right in town), and they produce it. Yum. Also the service was very kind and thoughtful. We would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "For our 35th wedding anniversary, my husband & I had to celebrate with dinner at Kama. And we were not disappointed. We started with the lamb tacos which are amazing! My husband had the Chicken Kadai and I had the Lamb Roganjosh, both simply delicious. They even surprised us with dessert. That you Kama Bistro for helping us have a memorable evening."

  • "Kama Bistro is always an experience for the senses! Delicious and so much variety. There were four of us. One of us didn't thoroughly enjoy his lamb shank entree, while the rest of us were very pleased - thus, the "Very Good" rating for Food. He noted that it wasn't as good as other times. Service was attentive -- perhaps just a bit over-attentive; but how can one complain about that?"

  • "My wife and I love going to restaurants that are vibrant, humming, where the tables are full and the place just seems to "alive." It's a little depressing to go to a place where just a few tables are occupied. This is not a depressing place. It has a special energy and it is one of our favorites. Especially in its new location, Kama Bistro has the vibe and hum of a chic downtown eatery. And yes, we want there to be fabulous food. Kama Bistro's food never disappoints. The appetizers = delicious--especially the chili potatoes. We cannot forget about the drinks and the bar. Great beer and wine list, all the usual cocktails, but their SPECIAL cocktails are worth high praise. Try one of their signature drinks."

  • "Delicious Food!!! Everyone walked away loving it and feeling full!"

  • "The food was all very good, and our server was very helpful in recommending dishes that were not spicy. The restaurant is very attractive, my only complaint is that it gets very loud in there. Nothing to absorb the sound."

  • "I have never tried Indian food before and this was the best first experience ever! I loved everything I tried and can't wait to go back. Our server was very helpful in making selections and familiarizing us with the menu. Service was amazing and very professional. Thought they had a very nice wine selection as well."

  • "Our waiter was wonderful! I am sorry that his name escapes me right now (mid twenties, blond hair, 5"9"). It was our first time eating Indian food and he was very helpful in guiding us to the right dishes based on several questions he asked us. He was attentive but not too intrusive. He was very patient and not pushy. We appreciated him being our server!"

  • "Best Indian food I have ever had but not your authentic down home place. Upscale Indian at its best."

  • "Dined here with a friend who loves Indian food but not spicy dishes. I am less familiar with this cuisine, but the spicier the better in my book. All food is served family style, meaning it comes in bowls that you self-serve onto your plate. We shared the spicy mussels and the chicken in a lemon cream sauce as appetizers. It was a great combination that satisfied both of our preferences - I highly recommend them either together or as stand alone appetizers. It's a big menu with many choices. The flavors were good no matter what we ordered. I'll come back here and will now be more open to other Indian restaurants as well."

  • "Very tasty and interesting, complex flavors. Best indian we've had in the western suburbs."

  • "The meals were delicious, however, the waiter kept disappearing for long increments of time. He was very friendly, but had bad time management."

  • "The food is very good - not super hot (unless you want it that way) but just the right amount of spice. The lamb tacos and garlic non are fantastic! Could make a meal out of those two dishes alone. The service is always attentive and knowledgeable without being overly zealous. They had beer specials the night we were there so I tried a pale ale that was new for me and really enjoyed it. There were a few food allergies in the group and they accommodated everyone if it was possible. Great place to go with a small group so you can try different dishes and get to know the cuisine. I highly recommend it!"

  • "Kama has the best Indian food in the suburbs. The braised lamb shank is absolutely phenomenal. Service is always good."

  • "One of the better and more interesting Indian restaurants I've been to. I had the chicken vindaloo - nicely spiced and tasty; my wife had the rogan josh and enjoyed that as well. Reasonable portions; we brought home a couple of lunches. Atmosphere is very nice; not particularly Indian in feel, but very comfortable"

  • "I have had all types of Indian food all over US and I can say that KB is the best in Chicago. Lamb dishes are the best and I don't even like lamb. Agnes is very gracious and lovely host and Vikram is amazing cook. Great folks with great food. Must try. "

  • "My husband and I had a very nice meal at Kama. We were using a Groupon and thought the items we had to choose from for the special were a good selection with nice variety. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, able to answer menu questions and make suggestions. All the food was very tasty and we enjoyed our visit to Kama very much."

  • "We love the fact that such great food can be had right in our neighborhood. The food is amazing every time! My husband did think he liked Indian food but took me here on my birthday many years ago since I love Indian food. Kama was in it's first LaGrange location and just starting out. We had the tasting menu with the wine recommendations. We also met the chef and his wife who are passionate about the experience. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. Their recommendations have been great! We have been hooked ever since our very first visit! We love the new location!"

  • "The food was all very good, mostly modern variations on standard Indian dishes. Unfortunately, on our first visit (a Friday night) we had several service issues, mostly with timing: First, we waited a long time for the server to arrive and take drink & appetizer order. Then, the appetizer was brought out before the drinks (?!?). Because of this we specifically requested the main course not be brought until after we were done with our soup, but it came while we were in the middle anyway. We had to ask three times for a second glass of wine. We will probably give them the benefit of the doubt and try again."

  • "Kama's space is so much nicer in the new location. Spacious but still cozy. The food is good, not excellent but good. Could benefit by a little less salt."

  • "My wife and I went as part of a Groupon. Well, the Groupon did what it was supposed to do. It made us want to dine here again. I will be adding this restaurant to my list of preferred places to go."

  • "This was the first time I had been to the new restaurant. It is so much bigger and is lovely. The food is delicious. My husband, who is not a fan of Indian cuisine, ended up re-considering after our meal at Kama. He had the prawn special appetizer. To say that that one prawn was big enough to be a meal, says it all. I had the lamb tacos. They were delicious, and also big (2) enough to be an entree. He opted for the special of the night: a filet of beef with spinach and coriander potatoes. It had a black pepper sauce, which was delicious. I had the spinach and chicken. Because of the size of the appetizers, I took almost all of it home. Glad to have such a great place close to home."

  • "Kama is a visual and taste delight. The food is fresh and well-prepared and the service is attentive, but not overpowering. And this was on a weekend night where there was not an empty seat to be seen. Our table had a variety of appetizers and dishes to share from the tandoori platter to yellow dal to a very spicy, but yummy vindaloo. The wines sampled at the table were so-so, but it was a small sampling of the wine list. Great experience and great food! And I was welcomed back having dined their earlier in the week for lunch. Good system ..."

  • "I love Indian food, but generally expect the overall dining experience to be ordinary. Kama is different. It has traditional Indian favorites as well some unique dishes. Lamb taco appetizer should not be missed. Our service was also spot on and the extensive beer list was a huge surprise. The upbeat atmosphere rounded out the experience. We will be back, soon!"

  • " I will not hide the fact that my date made the evening but there is no doubt that Kama Bistro contributed to a wonderful evening. She knew the available foods somewhat better than I did but, the selections were wide and varied and included several Tandoori and Nan selections. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the food and the wines. We did have a reservation and although we were late, our place was held but, two people were seated at a table for four. Was it a result of my tardiness? I don't think so because I did not see the dark romantic corner in the restaurant. (I am not saying that the corner does not exist). Drawbacks, only the table for four for two people and an outdated web page, still recommended! "

  • "I was so excited to find Kama I ordered six appetizers. Lamb chops, ribs, chicken just to name a few. Can't wait to go back. They have amazing cocktails, I had a chili cucumber martini, memorable. My friend had wine and thought the selection had good variety. Just thinking about Kama makes me want more. Soon. "

  • "We've eaten there on special occasions since they opened at a different location. Place is much bigger than their original space. Food is always excellent. Service was friendly and much more attentive than in the past. They have a bar now - we wondered how it would affect the noise level and our ability to have a conversion. The acoustics in the new location are much better."

  • "Love the food and service at Kama Bistro. Everyone is well trained and so helpful navigating the menu. Lunch is always exceptional and the current location is so much more comfortable than the earlier smaller space. We think if people try Kama they will have a new perspective on Indian food. The flavors are delightful and the menu is extensive."

  • "Kama was the perfect spot for my special occasion dinner party of 7 very diverse guests. The menu was perfect for all types of palates, from timid to adventurous. The wide selection caters to for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The wine and beer lists are both extensive, and the waiters were very helpful with the food and beverage pairings. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Heard great things about Kama Bistro so when I finally had a free night I decided to check it out. Our waitress was lovely and suggested some excellent options and gave us a run down of the drink options. The food was delicious, but since I'm picky about my Indian food I'm only willing to give it 4/5 everything else is 5"
