A word from Kama Bistro
Kama Bistro is named after the Indian cupid, the god of love and passion, symbolizing the aesthetic pleasure of the senses. Indulge your senses and experience the passion Kama brings to its food and service.

This is not your ordinary Indian food. Kama Bistro’s menu puts an emphasis on fresh, high quality ingredients. Freshly ground spices go into sauces made from scratch every day. Homemade paneer (cottage cheese), all-natural chicken and prime domestic lamb make for superior protein. Everything is prepared to order to ensure its quality.

The menu is rounded out with innovative cocktails, diverse wine and a select microbrew list to accompany your food. The martinis, including mango, cinnamon pleasure, pineapple and cucumber chili, are always made from fresh fruit purees and homemade syrups, all-natural and a perfect balance to spicy food.

  • "Excellent food and service every time we've been there. Have tried a wide variety of dishes all delicious. "

  • " I will not hide the fact that my date made the evening but there is no doubt that Kama Bistro contributed to a wonderful evening. She knew the available foods somewhat better than I did but, the selections were wide and varied and included several Tandoori and Nan selections. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the food and the wines. We did have a reservation and although we were late, our place was held but, two people were seated at a table for four. Was it a result of my tardiness? I don't think so because I did not see the dark romantic corner in the restaurant. (I am not saying that the corner does not exist). Drawbacks, only the table for four for two people and an outdated web page, still recommended! "

  • "I was so excited to find Kama I ordered six appetizers. Lamb chops, ribs, chicken just to name a few. Can't wait to go back. They have amazing cocktails, I had a chili cucumber martini, memorable. My friend had wine and thought the selection had good variety. Just thinking about Kama makes me want more. Soon. "

  • "We've eaten there on special occasions since they opened at a different location. Place is much bigger than their original space. Food is always excellent. Service was friendly and much more attentive than in the past. They have a bar now - we wondered how it would affect the noise level and our ability to have a conversion. The acoustics in the new location are much better."

  • "Love the food and service at Kama Bistro. Everyone is well trained and so helpful navigating the menu. Lunch is always exceptional and the current location is so much more comfortable than the earlier smaller space. We think if people try Kama they will have a new perspective on Indian food. The flavors are delightful and the menu is extensive."

  • "Kama was the perfect spot for my special occasion dinner party of 7 very diverse guests. The menu was perfect for all types of palates, from timid to adventurous. The wide selection caters to for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The wine and beer lists are both extensive, and the waiters were very helpful with the food and beverage pairings. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Big party; great food; server or kitchen lost 2 of 12 orders; there weren't enough servers for a full restaurant."

  • "Great Indian food! My husband had the Kama kazi vindaloo with Ghost Peppers and OMG was it hot! We will be back."

  • "Heard great things about Kama Bistro so when I finally had a free night I decided to check it out. Our waitress was lovely and suggested some excellent options and gave us a run down of the drink options. The food was delicious, but since I'm picky about my Indian food I'm only willing to give it 4/5 everything else is 5"

  • "Does this place even need my review? It has to be one of the best places I have been to! ENJOY!"

  • "Excellent fresh North Indian food with a great ambiance and service. Not the ambiance of the typical Indian restaurant! And the food is so fresh."

  • "We had not dined here since the move to the larger space and newer style on lagrange. Our last experience had been less than we had hoped so we hadn't dined here in a long while. I was pleasantly surprised when we returned for dinner last weekend. It was wise to have a reservation as the place was busy on Saturday night. Food was hot and tasty! The only negatives- the service was slow and dodgy. No one to refill drinks, check on us and our food order was incorrect upon arrival. Not sure but think maybe understaffed or just unorganized. They did comp our entree for the mistake."

  • "Food was great. Service was lacking - we were seated right away but sat at our table for about 15 minutes before we were even given menus. Some food came out quickly. There was a mix up with one food item ordered and it took forever to get the correct dish delivered. We finished our meal and this dish came out 15 minutes after that. The food was really tasty and unique and we enjoyed all the flavors (this was our first time dining here and our first time trying Indian cuisine). I would try it again because the food was good but hope to get better service next time."

  • "Granted we were there on a Friday night, but it was clear the kitchen was completely overwhelmed. I don't mind waiting a long time for my food IF the drink service is attentive. I'm not kidding- we were there 30 minutes and gave our drink order to THREE different people who came to our table, and still had no drinks. (When our drinks FINALLY arrived, 2 of the 4 were wrong) They warned us to put our order in as soon as possible because it would be a long wait. But then all of our entrees came out one at a time, so we basically watched each other eat. Kind staff, but hands were tied by disorganized kitchen. This is not a new restaurant- work out the kinks already!"

  • "We've been going to Kama Bistro since it first came to La Grange. We were delighted that the food kept the same quality after moving from the old location. The new menu has even more great options. We wanted to share this great restaurant with our daughter, who was here from out of town. We ordered three of our old favorites and shared them.. Such a wonderful blend of flavors!"

  • "Love the new space and how it's been transformed. Food is wonderful, though I wish it were a little more affordable. Two drinks, an appetizer and two entrees, with tip, for $84. I wish I could afford to enjoy it more often!"

  • "We went here for Valentines Day, and the food and service were superb! We appreciate the thought put into the four course meal and decor on this day. The menu items complemented each other perfectly at a reasonable price. We will be back again."

  • "Kama Indian Bistro sets the standard by which I measure all Indian Food. Chicken Makani is by far the most tasty dish I have ever had! The Chili Crispy Potatoes are to die for! Great wine selection too. The owners are servers go out of their way to make your experience a memorable one. Even if you don't like Indian Food you will love Kama Indian Bistro!"

  • "Once again, we had an exceptional dining experience at Kama. The food is amazing, and the staff is great. On Saturday, we were helped by one of the owners, and she was awesome...great recommendations for dinner. We appreciated the extra time she spent going over the menu. Lobster bisque was phenomenal...lamb shank perfect. My wife had the filet special, and it was awesome...cooked perfectly in the charcoal oven. Really great dining experience"

  • "We went here on New Year's Eve mainly because I was pregnant and had an unruly craving for some Indian food. GOOD Indian food. I was over all quite happy in the long run. . The food was fresh and well prepared. A lovely mango lassi. Excellent butter chicken and I even enjoyed the lamb vindaloo. ( I am not a fan of lamb but this was very good) Only complaint was on the basmati rice. Was dry and clumpy, which dissapointed me greatly because most of my carvings was for some of that wonderful fluffy sticky rice that basmati should be. You could tell the rice had been sitting on a hot pan for awhile. I will forgive them on the fact that it was New Year's and we had a late reservation."

  • "The quality of the food and the complexity of the spices is the best of any Indian restaurant that I have been to in Chicago. The wine list is surprisingly good and the drink and beer selection is also better than any I have seen in an Indian restaurant. The service and the owners pay great attention to their guests and the ambiance is nicer than you find in most Indian restaurants. The variety of menu items has something for everyone. Look at the menu on the internet and you will see what I mean."

  • "Have been coming for a while to Kama Bistro. Their new space is wonderful, and the food is terrific as always. Tried new things this time, thanks to the hostess' recommendations, and couldn't have been more satisfied and sated. Coming back in a week and will introduce new friends to this incredible cuisine. Kudos to the chef!"

  • "I chose Indian Kama Bistro because it is in downtown La Grange and I live in La Grange. I also like Indian food. There was plenty of room in the restaurant, despite the modest front entrance. The staff are friendly and open to providing great service. The prices are reasonable and the menu has a wide selection. I ordered the Tandoori platter for a variety of grilled chicken and seafood and the food was fresh and tasty. The music was a little loud, as it was hard to converse with my dinner companion at times. However, the service was superb, as my water glass was never empty. The waitress was very attentive to diners' needs and questions about the menu choices and descriptions. (Thank you, Amanda. I'd like you as my waitress every time!)"

  • "We've always been a fan of the Bistro. We've been going since they had just a little slice of a space over on Burlington. Their new digs are really nice - well done. The service seems better - more attentive. Although, our waiter got caught up with a table of four who wanted an explanation about absolutely everything on the menu. He accommodated, but he should have kindly pulled himself away at some point. We were left high and dry. Having said that, we love the place. And after living in Hyderabad, IN for a year, I can tell you it's just enough authentic while appealing to the mainstream. The new beer list is fantastic too."

  • "We have enjoyed Indian food for decades, eaten in dozens of Indian Restaurants, traveled to India and we can say that this is our favorite place. The seasonings are great, the quality of the food is excellent and the new location is much larger, allowing more people to enjoy the great food. A surprisingly interesting selection of beverages and wine tops off the great food. If you enjoy Indian food you should not miss trying this place."

  • "There were practically no customers when we sat down but we still had the worst service I've ever experienced. We had to go to the desk to get someone to take our drink orders. We had to flag someone each time we ordered, for appetizers, for naan, and for our entrees. Three of actually finished our entrees before the other three got theirs! It was awful and no apologies were ever offered!"

  • "Best with a group, so you can try a lot of dishes, several tandoori, a few of the entres, and don't forget the nan. Careful with the kamikazi, we love spicy and 8 was a bit strong for us."
