Diner Reviews
  • "This is my third time dining here over the past few years. Service has declined......portions have decreased, and prices have risen. I felt like this restaurant has turned into a tourist trap that is trying to extract as much money as possible from their diners. Great ambience, but I don't appreciate being directed to the bar when the table that I was seated at was open when I walked in. There is no need to clip me for an extra $60 for drinks...prices are already over the top on the food."

  • "Kali's Court was an amazing experience with delicious food. From the seafood dishes to the Steaks, Kali's Court has an amazing Chef! The Chef hand writes her menus each day with some great selections! The servers were very knowledgeable and very attentive. Great pick!"

  • "I expected a lot more from this restaurant and was let down. We took friends and hoped for a wonderful evening. Rolls were blah and room temp. Hot appetizer was lukewarm. Waited a very long time in between our salads and entrees ( 1 hour). Valet lost our car and we stood outside for 30 minutes while they attempted to find it. Crab cakes and salad were good but there are so many other places that offer the same and better for a lot less money. We will not be returning."

  • "We were sent to Kali's Court by a concierge. Based on the recommendation we were enthusiastic. The restaurant is lovely and the service superb. The server and sommelier were quite tolerant of the demands of our guest. The food, however, was disappointing. Steak tartar was tasteless though pretty on the plate. While the bronzini was nicely prepared it was only good; the other entrees were overcooked. We will try again."

  • "Overpriced !!! We had a $100 gift cert. Our group had 8 drinks and 7 $35.00 meals Somehow our bill came in over $450.00 There are many other better places to go to in Baltimore for less than $65.00 per person"

  • "We had a great experience and lived the atmosphere. We asked the hostess for a 'fun' table and she gave us a lovely and fun table in the windows overlooking the courtyard. My crab cakes were perfect and the grilled platter of shrimp, calamari and oysters were amazing I look forward to my next trip to Baltimore"

  • "I have a conference annually in Baltimore and we always go to this pace at least once. Great preparations of the fresh catch of the day and an awesome wine list."

  • "Given the recommendations, we were anticipating very high quality, but the service was slow and the food not what we'd hoped for. I had to fend for myself getting seated, since the host didn't pull the table out and I squeezed to get in. I had the monkfish, which was bland and over cooked, and served over a room temperature polenta. My husband fared better with the crab cakes, which were very good, and the beet salad. But for these prices, the food should be excellent and the service impeccable. And it was very noisy even though the restaurant wasn't nearly full. Not a repeater."

  • "I was very upset with our service. First we received the wrong appetizer. Then our main course arrived. Instead of taking it all back and bringing out the appetizers in order we received an "I'm sorry" and the appetizers come out a few minutes later. I was very disappointed. I wanted a nice anniversary dinner in a fine restaurant. The steak I ordered was overcooked and I didn't even want the appetizers at that point. More apologies and the appetizers were taken off the bill but the special occasion I came to celebrate was ruined."

  • "My wife and I had our first date at Kali's 12 years ago. We have been back multiple times. This time we found the menu changed and a new chef. Although the menu looked good I was looking forward to the old preparations . The chef was not only accommodating in grilling my calamari, she also prepared my Bronzino with olive oil and capers like the old way. The great thing is that her preparation was perfect. Chef, thanks for being flexible."

  • "Have been to this restaurant several times before and really enjoyed it. Was definitely disappointed this time. Very high prices that are no longer worth it given the quality of food and service. I won't be going back anymore. There are much better places in baltimore, and that are less expensive with better food and service."

  • "Wife's B-day dinner. Bad move, but will take her somewhere else for a makeup. Very pretty restaurant. Surf and turf, oysters and bread all were tasty, but the wait for table was way too long, and the table location was horrible, then the wait for the food was way too long and it came out of order too. We heard a lot of excuses and they were so bad it was humorous. "It's taking some extra time as we are getting a special table for you" and "the lobster is alive so the preparation takes longer". In short good food, nice restaurant, but to worthy of the 2.5 hrs we spent there."

  • "Overall excellent experience! Service from hostess, bar tender, and our waiter was great! Had the BEST Pinor Noir ever at this place! Food was fantastic - and we know our food!! Great ambiance - very well done! Anyone who comes to Baltimore for a visit like we did MUST put this on their list! We will be back for certain!"

  • "We were seated immediately. Our waiter took our drink order but it took 10 minutes for our dirnks to come. The restaurant was not that crowded. My drink came in a chipped glass. My husband had the grilled calamari and it was very chewey. His sword fish and my crab cakes were delicious. His potatoes were underdone. The valet brought us the wrong car when we went to leave."

  • "The food and service was fantastic! But the lighting was really ridiculous. Everyone (even at all the other tables) had to use the lights on their phones to even see the menus. I could understand this if the restaurant was filled with only tables for two for romantic dining. But there were many tables (mostly) for large groups so this didn't make sense. We were there for a family birthday celebration and I was a bit embarrassed that I chose an inappropriate restaurant for this group celebration. Pictures on the website could not depict the dark atmosphere. I would only recommend this for romantic, intimate dining for special occasions."

  • "Went with my wife on Valentine's Day; understood ahead of time that it would be crowded because of the timing. The service was worse than awful...I guess that would be horrendous?? The food was good, at least what I had. We had to wait almost 3 hours and all I got was the appetizer. Then I told the waiter we did not want our main course (as well as I ordered a second course) and would just take the check. Magically...our food appeared. I did not accept the food, paid for our 2 appetizers and 4 drinks and left. Would like to try again, because I have heard good things, but am very hesitant. There are better places out there."

  • "Absolutely fantastic service, and the food was plentiful and flavorful. We were in town for a conference, and actually sent back several colleagues the following night to enjoy, it was that good!"

  • "There was nothing offensive about the service but it was really crowded and they must have been running behind. They told us to take a seat at the bar but then there weren't any seat so we were just standing. The wait wasn't long but it was awkward. Once we were seated we were right by the entrance and had people standing waiting for a table at the bar surrounding us and moving in and out. It was pretty distracting. Our waiter was very nice but clearly very busy. It felt like he was trying to spend as little time as possible with us. It really didn't seem like it was his fault - they just were packed. Overall I just wasn't impressed and I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. There are plenty of great restaurants in Baltimore."

  • "The whole fish lacked flavor, the surf & turf was awesome, the oyster were fried on old grease, the lamb was tender, and the server assistance could not understand English. Overall: Good resturant"

  • "Went to Kali's for restaurant week. The food was very tasty, and for that I would go back. I was disappointed in the service. The waitor was very unattentive. Didn't see him for the first 10 minutes after being seated, then he simply laid the menu on our plates and walked away for another 10 minutes. I noticed the other waitors explaining the menu and making recommendations. Out waitor simply came back and said "have you decided?". We felt like an inconvenience. The experience improved after that point because the food was very good, but still, I was not as impressed as I expected to be. Also, the hostess did not great us either. Simply stared at us until we told her why we were there."

  • "We ate at Kali's Court during Baltimore's Restaurant Week. The menu options were many, unlike other restaurants, and an excellent variety of seafood. The restaurant is beautiful. The only negative statement I have is that our party of 7 was seated right by the front door. Parties waiting to be seated were hovering near our table throughout our dinner. Having made the reservation nearly two weeks prior, I expected a better table. Other than that, all was wonderful. Definitely recommend eating there and will return."

  • "Such high hopes for Kali's Court, where I have wanted to go for years. Larger than I expected, during restaurant week, we were seated in a remote upstairs room, with a nice view of Thames St. The best service of the night came from our water boy - who was called in from Strayer - first night there - and he rocked it. The rest of the service was mediocre at best. Food took over an hour to be served! My whole grilled fish was delicious - the Monk fish entree too small and overdone - appetizers and desserts were fair as well. Ambiance was fine; my glass of house pinot grigio the best I've had. I'm sad to say I won't go back."

  • "We still waited at the bar for just over 45 minutes after our reservation time. Food was generally solid, although my monkfish steak wasn't really a steak but 4 small square pieces of pan fried monkfish. The surf and turf entree that my mother ordered did not seem worth the extra price because it was just shrimp and no lobster. Although I noted it was an anniversary dinner on our opentable reservation, our waiter made no mention of it. Our waiter never introduced himself until halfway into the meal and neglected to bring us a missing water glass or any bread for the table. He also uncorked the wine on the table itself, effectively shaking the entire table during the process. Lackluster experience overall."

  • "Fells Point has a great restaurant scene, but Kali's Court is the only one that I would call "fine dining." I've been several times, this time for Restaurant Week and each course was absolutely delicious. Some locations cut their menus to cheap and easy dishes during Restaurant Week, but Kali's kept everything to their usual high standard. The service was timely and attentive, but I never once felt rushed. As usual, a superb experience at Kali's Court."

  • "While the food was outstanding (beef tartar, grilled calamari, bronzini, and monk fish), the service was sub par. When we arrived slightly early for our reservation, we sat at the bar. We were approached several times and asked if all of our party had arrived. It felt as if he was rushing us out of the bar to move us along. The waiter was ok, not great. Ambiance was very romantic and the restaurant had great energy. The prices are quite high, so perhaps save this for a special occasion. I think there are several other places in Baltimore that have both fabulous service and food."

  • "probably should have made my first visit at another time; waited quite a while before table was free - although we had reservations. Didn't enjoy my meal selections (thought lambshank was salty); However, my table guests enjoyed their selections."

  • "One of the best meals I have had in Baltimore!! From top notch bar service to start the night to the amazing table service!! Mazz our server was top notch!! The food on par with the best around!! And the decor is beautiful!! The host and hostess were pleasant and the table given was amazing!! I will recommend this place to all that ask for a great place for dinner!!"

  • "Restaurant Week menu was different on site than on-line, but there were many good choices for both appetizer and entrée. The restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed our table upstairs away from the bar. Wine choices were good and reasonable. Swordfish was excellent, prepared well with delicious complementing sides. Dessert consisted of three chef selections which were good but could have used a chocolate item for those of us who like a touch of chocolate at the end of the meal. Service seemed a little rushed at first, and then it seemed as if he forgot about us. Waited quite awhile for the waiter to return and when he did, he apologized for the delay in getting our entrees that we had already eaten and were waiting for dessert!"

  • "After seeing this place from the outside so many times it was time to uncover the mystery behind the flames that greet you at the door and I was not disappointed. The fish being their signature dish had to be tried head and all. It was delicious. The calamari was flavorful and for those who got the lamb it was falling off the bone. The waiter and rest of the staff were also very accommodating. The wine list was surprisingly not that large but it was a great overall experience."

  • "I love this place!!! Particularly the window seats upstairs, in the evening! I've been there on a date (love their lighting), alone, and even with a group for a presentation. Each time the food was delicious (tender braised lamb shank this time) the staff were soooo friendly and even engaging (even next door in the mezze , and the atmosphere was perfect. I will certainly return here."

  • "Our server was Michael, he was amazing, very informative and polite. He served us promptly and kept checking on us. The food was incredible. The grilled calamari was top notch and light. The beef tartare was delectable. The lamb shank was so rich and tender. The sword fish was incredibly juicy. The dessert selection was also fabulous and it was great to have tasty greek desserts. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurant week menu was impressive as they served full entrees and appetizers."

  • "We were so excited to come for restaurant week but the food was mediocre at best, even for the restaurant week price. Our wine order was messed up twice. Two of us ordered the NY strip; it was almost all fat and not cooked accordingly. Also, they only brought out two restaurant week desserts for a group of three. After paying for a meal that included dessert we were not sure why we were expected to share. In the end it didn't matter because the dessert was mediocre as well. We had such high expectations and were so excited to come here and now it was just disappointing. Nothing about it was "bad" but when you're paying the price for a high quality restaurant, you want more than good."

  • "We went out for dinner on the Baltimore Restaurant Week. We had heard this place was very good and pricey, so we thought it was a good chance to try it. The food is incredibly amazing. I had a lamb shank as an entree, and it couldn't have been more delicious and tender. My husband had a whole fish grilled (something that you rarely find here in the States), and it was absolutely delicious. The appetizers and dessert were extremeley good too. We definitely will come back for another occasion. The best place we've tried so far in Baltimore!"

  • "Not a good experience. We have been here several times, usually a good experience. Waited 45+ minutes for table, waited another 60+ minutes still no meal (crab cakes and pasta shouldn't take that long). When the table near us, seated after us and a table of 4, received their food before us we asked for the check. Waiter said he had to tell the manager. Manager came to the table, said food will be out soon--was not at all apologetic. We said we want the check, he pushed back again. No apology and we were left feeling like the bad guy. Hopefully it was just a bad night for them, but we will most likely not return."
