  • "Steak was perfect just like Chop House but I really need a BAKED POTATOE with my steak Just saying!!"

  • "We enjoyed our evening and Rick and our waitress did a wonderful job. Big thanks. The Paulls"

  • "We tired the new location for the Kaiser Grille in Palm Desert. Service was slow, lots of staff running around but lack focus, direction and attention. Food was uneventful! Entrees lacked flavor and imagination and the veggies served lukewarm. Overpriced for this venue. Too bad the old Chop House had to close at this location. There are much better choices in the valley!"

  • "If you feel that $100 for a meal for two without drinks, appetizers, or salads, but with a couple "chips" of "toasted" bread plus one scoop of mushy ice cream is a deal, then run to get here. Hopefully, you will be able to find a place to park your Bentley when you get there. If not, forget it and write if off as just another rip off and go to California Pizza Kitchen for some better food!"

  • "We arrived on time and we're informed by the staff staff that they closed early due to a lack of of customers. They should have called us."

  • "This location closing but I understand Chop Hse to open at Jackalope because they have two kitchens. This should be an interesting experiment. I've never been impressed with Jackalope except for appetizers and cocktails. HOPEFULLY they will bring the kitchen & wait staff along. The setting should be spectacular and if the resturant group keeps the same great quality food and service this should be a happy improvement. I do not think this move will improve the Jackalope experience. To do that you'd have to clone the kitchen staff (not to mention the buyer).Time will tell."

  • "This was a special occasion and they greeted us with a Happy Birthday and had a congratulatory card at the table. We love the ample booths and quiet ambience. The food and service are top notch."

  • "Food good not great, service good not great, the restaurant is in need of a facelift. Augratin potatoes had no flavor at all. "

  • "We had a lovely evening with friends. Great food, great service and we never felt rushed. We haven't been to the Chop House for a while. The last time we had problems with the food. Whatever they have done since the last visit is working. We will go back again soon!"

  • "my husband & i had the most amazing dinner at chop house. i have a severe dairy allergy and bryan went above and beyond to take care of me. we ran the gamut; with starters, salads, entrees - to desserts, it was absolutely amazing! fantastic service, a definite must go. thank you to all at chop house!"

  • "The hostess, waiters, manager were all very attentive and we enjoyed our dinner very much."

  • "Had dinner on Saturday and our specialty salads were wrong and the entrees were terrible. We have been to the Chop House many times and always been happy with the food and service, but after we ate (and complained) the manager came over and explained they are getting ready to shut down for a "refresh" in a few weeks. Recommend you stay a way until they reopen in the fall!"

  • "Lobster was under cooked. For 45 buks you think they could get it right. I told the manager about it after dinner and he did nothing about it. "
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "We dined at Chop House for the first time because of their off season special menu which in our case consisted of soup or salad, a 6 oz. filet, and dessert. The Salad was good, the steak excellent and the chocolate mousse cake was to die for. Overall it was a great experience and a pleasant surprise. We wouldn't hesitate to return. They also have an all day happy hour with regular table seating in the bar which we are anxious to try."

  • "We had been to the Chop House before and were thinking about celebrating our anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere that we hadn't been for a while and the Chop House was perfect. Jesus was our waiter and took great care of us. The food was terrific.....we had the escargot and oysters Rockefeller, which were delicious. The wedge salad and lobster bisque were next and then our entrees, which were the 6oz filet and the oscar special....both cooked perfectly. They were so kind to have a special anniversary dessert for us as well as an anniversary card signed by the staff. Very thoughtful....."

  • "The food is always wonderful here. I used to come on my birthday every year for the Chateaubriand which is served with bernaise and 2 side dishes. It was always a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday in this beautiful restaurant with its fabulous food. This year we went over Easter for the Filet and lobster "surf and tuf" which was excellent!"

  • "We visited this restaurant because we were awarded a gift card. But even though the meal cost to us was very low as a result of the card, I must still report that the restaurant was below average, especially considering the plethora of good steakhouses in the area, among them national brands such as Morton's, Flemings and Ruth Chris, to name a few. The food was (far) below average, ranging from the bread to the mets and beyond. My advice on this restaurant: save your money. On a side note, this restaurant has a sister restaurant (among others) called Jackalope Ranch. That place was, quite frankly, among the worst restaurants I have ever been to. I think the owner of these area restaurants needs to get it together."

  • "The steaks were excellent. Each of us ordered a filet prepared differently and each steak was perfect. The salads were all good and the drinks were wonderful. It was a very nice evening. "
    Dined on 4/16/2014
  • "The interior decor is tired and needs updating. This includes some broken inoperable drapes that are needed to prevent the sun form invading the dining areas after 4 PM. Looks like they have had some tough times. The attire allowed in the dining and bar area makes this look like and Applebees instead of a upscale steak house. Ugh!"

  • "Our waitress, Jennifer, wasn't interested in our table. We had to get up and get her attention to order, ask for water refills, etc. Busboy only came by once to deliver the bread and never returned. Waitress had an "attitude". Steaks were moderately warm--not hot as if they had sat waiting for other food before they were delivered. Potatoes au gratin were not crispy on top--hadn't seen a broiler to crisp the cheese. Dessert--molten cake was burnt. Our previous experience was significantly different and why we returned. Not sure we will make a third visit."

  • "We arrived at 8pm on a Sunday night. There were only 4 other tables occupied at our time of arrival. We waited 7 minutes for the server to arrive. Didn't get bread until 14 minutes after that. Waited for the server to come back to take our order. Looking...looking...looking for our server..... Server seemed distracted and uninterested in our service. Food was OK. Service was dreadful."

  • "This was our second time eating here. We ate here on our last visit 3 years ago. Very good Prime Rib which was just what we wanted after a long day of travel. We will go back the next time we visit Palm Desert."

  • "Great food, great drinks, great house wine. It was a wonderful evening made even better by the great staff."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "My steak house standard is Ruth's Chris and the Chop House was about 60%. Rib eye steak did not have nearly the flavor and was grisly. Onion rings tasted frozen. Creamed spinach and sautéed mushrooms were disappointing. Nothing was terrible but nothing was great either. Convenient location and a well run, civic minded local business."

  • "Good food, good service. A little noisy. All went well"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "We expected something a little more upscale, but this was still a good place for dinner. The food was very good, and the steaks were excellent! (Think along the lines of Morton's - good steaks.) Everyone was very friendly and courteous, things were served promptly, everything was clean and orderly. It was just fine. Good wine list, and even a list of wines "on sale". Some rough edges with the service, but nothing major. Overall very enjoyable and worth a visit. (Note: On a Friday night, the place was full when we arrived at 8 p.m., but by 10 p.m. it was empty except for us and one other party. Same thing happened at another restaurant the next night. Must be a Palm Springs area thing.)"

  • "Great place to celebrate special events with friends. Very consistent food quality and service."

  • "From the moment we entered the evening was exceptional. The hostess was charming, seated us immediately, the service was efficient , the waitress was most knowledgeable and helpful. The food was outstanding, cooked to perfection. I had the Ahi Tuna and it was wonderful served very rare exactly like I ordered it. The Rib eye steak was also cooked perfectly, tender and delicious. Will definately return and bring more friends."

  • "It was a special celebration and we ordered the Tomahawk special for two to be prepared Medium, but was presented rare. The food was sent back. It was returned on the same plate appearing to have been microwaved. The steak was full of gristle and fat with little meat to enjoy. We spoke to both the server and the manager did remove the cost of the meal from our bill. My concern was the manner in which the food was served and comments by the server and manager. I will not consider The Chop House in the future."

  • "I had never been to a Chophouse before, but my husband had in other cities and said it was great. We were greeted, seated at a nice corner table. Server did not come by, nor water service for a good 5 minutes. It was early in the evening and not at all crowded...Sooo? Salads were fresh, but nothing to write home about.... BOTH steaks were overcooked....,(unusual for two at an upper scale STEAK house) again waiting for waitress... Steaks were replaced... Manager NEVER came by...Really? Kept running out of water etc...Totally unacceptable, not worth it...Will never go back ):"

  • "great food and service, very comfortable booth arrangement...only draw back is that the view is a never ending stream of traffic on rte 111.....not even a glimpse of a mountain"
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • "we were pleased with the quality of food, attention of wait staff and quiet setting for conversation. just what we were looking for. wait staff was very friendly and helpful. glad we chose this reassurance. would go again."

  • "When I think of the perfect steakhouse I think of The Chop House. I have never been disappointed and only leave wondering why we don't come more often. It is perhaps not as fashionable as some but it passes every test for quality, value and service. The only negative (for which I give it four stars instead of five) is it located directly on Hwy 111 and Portola can be disconcerting visually. A minor point however. All in all, The Chop House remains one of the best kept secrets in the Coachella Valley as it never seems crowded."

  • "You cannot get a better steak cooked correctly anywhere else. The food is fresh and its just a good restaurant."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "lamb chops which were highly recommended were tough and inedible. all the other restaurants seemed quite busy, this restaurant only had a couple of tables with diners. very embarrassed as I had a dinner party of 7 customers."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "Food excellent as usual except my Mother in Law had seared Tuna and the garnish had major Wasabi concealed in the interior! Unfortunately this brought tears to her eyes and flames to her throat! Suggest the Wasabi is placed separately to the diner can add as much as personal palate desires."
    Dined on 3/2/2014
  • "Steaks and lamb rack very good, creamed spinach only fair. Server very good but busser too eager to remove plates, bread/butter before we were done. This is a traditional dark wood steakhouse, good but not worth the exceptionally high prices."
