Kachina Southwestern GrillA great surpiseWe were tired of the same old stuff, so we opened up Open Table and searched for new places in our area. Kachina caught my eye and off we went. The servers were extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu, the menu had something for all tastes. From adventurous to safe and basic.
Everything was served right out of pan it seemed, nothing sitting around waiting for a pickup. There is even a food cart that comes through with a special item if you want a taste of something else. Very inventive and what a great excuse to indulge without seeming like a glutton!
I wont tell you what we had, but I will say it was delicious. Only because the menu is so varied by ingredient type, you should go without a preconceived idea of what to order!
Try it5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful TonightOutstanding food - everything looked and tasted fresh.
Outstanding service - our server helped guide us through the menu and was attentive and timely all evening.
Hint: Go for something you wouldn't normally get. It's worth it. For dessert: have the flan.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food,Great Service,Great FindMy husband and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and happened upon Kachina. So glad we decided to give it a try. The menu had a number of mouth-watering options and we enjoyed each of the choices we made. The green chile corn chowder was excellent as were the bison tacos I had (one of the specials for the evening). Martin, our server, was the perfect mix of helpful and attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant has a nice ambience and I look forward to enjoying their patio area for a happy hour or a summer evening dinner. We will definitely go back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a nice placeHad a great Sunday brunch. Food was awesome.
But the service was poor. We had to ask multiple times for things.
We will return. As mentioned, the food is really good.
Nice atmosphere as well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was a bit disappointingWaitress was very on top of things. My daughter ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and it came with potatoes. Everything was greasy. She ordered a side of red chile to cover the taste but that didn't help. After a few bites, she called it quits. My husband had "The Indian" burrito. He said it was tasty. I had the bright salad and it was delicious! I believe it was the only thing we ordered that had the flavors put together correctly. I couldn't find one thing wrong with it. The smoked tomato vinaigrette was fabulous! I also ordered a single shrimp taco but the flavors were weird. It seemed that there wasn't much thought put into it. I hardly ate any of it. Grapefruit juice and coffee drinks were perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAdjust Menu a littleMy wife and I had difficulty understanding the menu. It seemed somewhat disorganized. The waitress was very helpful and got us the correct taco's and drinks. All in all a fun place to dine and visit.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMKachinaOne thing I like about the good restaurants is completeness and consistency. All too often, I've been to not so good restaurants where something is off. One item might be good, while another item not so good. Or the miss might be on service one night, vs another. Well you won't find any misses here. All of the items were consistently tasty and the service was consistent as well. Great job across the board.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great, innovative food! This was my first time trying Kachina for lunch as we have been there often for dinner and brunch. It did not disappoint - the food was as great as always. the Navajo Tacos are perfect for lunch and they offer a variety to choose from. The charred salad with poached egg was delicious! It was quiet enough for a business conversation. I hope they bring back the custom grilled corn cart when corn returns to being in season. The server was not as strong as others we have had in the evenings, but he seemed like he may have been new. The staff are all friendly and seem to know their stuff.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time here.2nd time eating here, busy cinco de mayo! Bar was fun & energetic. Food in restaurant was good, but preferred our 1st time choices. Waiter was friendly & attentive. Ceviche is really good! We will come again.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food up northEveryone in our party enjoyed our food and the tamales from the cart. The chefs here really put a lot of thought into the menu and the ingredients. The drinks are good as well, especially the simple and delicious margaritas. Our server didn't seem to know a lot about the ingredients in the dishes - that's my only complaint. I told him I needed to avoid corn and he didn't warn me that 2 items on the plate have a lot of corn in them, nor was it on the menu. I've been there twice before and the servers are usually more knowledgeable. In general, we enjoyed Kachina Grill and plan to go back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique food dishes, try itKachina is located at The Westin Hotel in Westminster. We live very nearby and had been wanting to give it a try. We had a local coupon, so took advantage of the opportunity. It is not at all like the typical tex mex type of food, but has many choices for any tastes, from mild to spicy, as well as steaks, pork tenderloin prepared in unique styles of cooking. Everything we tried was very good. Our server was very helpful in making our choices. We will go back again.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Kachina. I had the shrimp and waffles which were out of my comfort zone-pleasant surprise! For an app we had the chicharrones and the beef tenderloin skewers-both were under cooked. Tamale of the day was chicken. Had that w/ green chile-very good. My last experience with a margarita wasn't good so I went w/ a favorite Twisted Pine's Billy's Chile beer. Server forgot my Taco and Mark's dinner wasn't cooked well, so the server brought a chocolate cake-good but HEAVY. Should have gone w/ the chocolate begniets.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great. We sampledEverything was great. We sampled just a little of the menu and recommend the roasted pork for sure, that and the chicken green chili soup is amazing.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican/Spanish/Navajo fusionWe went here because we had a Living Social coupon and this place rocks! The ambiance is very modern with a rustic twist. Our server was awesome too and described the menu and ways the chef prepares food, and very attentive, so with the food, the chef goes to local farms and hand picks the meat THEN butchers it himself and serves it for the week. On that note, I ordered the pork carnitas which was the special and only had a limited number because they were on the last of the pork. It was awesome!! Perfectly cooked and portioned food. Only unfortunately thing I can't speak on is the location. It's kind of secluded and there is nothing right there to do before/after without driving. I highly recommend this place!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a chicharrone app whichI had a chicharrone app which was stellar. The margarita wasn't good, my choice of tequila was bad plus the size was rediculas for the price tag. Main entree was a ribeye cooked perfectly and teh sides went excellent with it. Licked my plate. The cart w/ a tamale of the day is a great idea. I had one for $2 and it was pretty tasty. No desert. This place could easily become a new favorite place to bring guests to.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI have already recommendedI have already recommended this place to friends. It is a wonderful place for Westminster residents to go to for any occasion.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Whooping Good Brunch!!Just delicious! My partner and I had serious trouble choosing between the HUGE selection of brunch entrees available at Kachina. No worry, however; the coffee, in the meantime, was delicious, and the staff understanding.
My suggestion: stick to the Southwestern entrees; that's what you came for! They are innovated and as varied as can be! The breakfast burrito was outstanding! My Benedict, on the other hand, was very, very sweet, so I poached the AMAZING green chile off of my partner's plate.
Altogether, a wonderful brunch experience. Wish we lived nearby, so that we could try them for dinner, as well. Hear they make killer tacos!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthwest delights. GreatSouthwest delights. Great menu full of southwestern flavorings and specialties. The menu was full of deliciously looking entrees full of beef and seafood. So many things to choose from on the menu. Great service, first class.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 2nd trip to KachinaThis was our 2nd trip to Kachina -- we loved it as much as the first and no doubt will be back again. Our first trip was for dinner, this time was for Lunch/Brunch on a Sunday. Several good offerings - we had the Green Chili Bison Burger and the Indian Burrito. Both were great (and very filling). Don't miss out on the Chocolate Beignets --- simply amazing dessert!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is by far the best cocktailsThis is by far the best cocktails and food you will find anywhere between Denver and Boulder. Price-wise, they have a little of everything, ranging from really good 5 dollar tacos alla carte, to fresh Colorado Bison steaks. Some great concept foods as well, try the shrimp & waffles. It's a great place if you want a few (quality) cocktails or margaritas, a hip tacqueria, or a fancy night out. The bar area is a bit loud, but toward the back of the restaurant you can hear ok. Foodies in love with Denver and Boulder, who happen to live in-between, should definitely try this place out.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Welcome ChangeKachina Grill has top notch service that only a restaurant in a hotel can provide. If I had time, I would while away the hours in front of the patio firepit with a drink in my hand.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMKachina is one of our favorites!Kachina is one of our favorites! We use to feel the need to head into Denver or Boulder for really good, quality, unique food.... but now we know we can always get that at Kachina. Everything we have had their from brunch to drinks, dinner and dessert has been epic. The service is awesome, the ambiance is a delight. The fact they take reservations is a huge plus. The outdoor patio!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Good service.Great food. Good service. But be prepared to walk. Parking is very far away3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI travel all the time, andI travel all the time, and eat in restaurants all the time. I was very hesitant to even try Kachina because it was attached to a hotel. Wow was I surprised. What a find. It has not been there a long time, and even though I live close by, I had not heard of it, but it looked different on Open Table, and I wanted something other than the burger, ribs, steak place.
The service was outstanding. they have a unique menu, and the waiter we had knew it inside and out, and was able to explain everything on it with detail and not in the snobby manner many times can come across.
The food was amazing. A southwestern flare, but not a Mexican restaurant, that offered a variety of unique and fun dishes that tested your palette.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is great for the WestminsterIt is great for the Westminster area to experience the innovative Southwestern food at Kachina. The roving tamale cart was a unique way for guests to try out the homemade tamales.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMKachina was a surprising findKachina was a surprising find for us. Had the Heritage Porkchop special, just fantastic. Menu itmes are unique, Hanger Steak and Huitlacoche for example. Many more items that I want to try. Will definitely be back for more.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the vast range ofWe love the vast range of creative and exciting menu options from unique appetizers and small plates to loca-vore focused entrees. The drink menu has some enticing innovative options that were fun to sample. We always leave with a sense that we have to come back to try some menu items we could not fit into that visit. Our server (Patrick) was knowledgeable and professional yet a lot of fun. He accomodated special requests with aplomb. We cannot wait for warm weather to enjoy the view and ambiance of their outside dining. We discovered Kachina in late fall and, after several visits, eagerly anticipate the next season's menu offerings. We hope the roasted corn cart returns when fresh corn is again in season!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat creative Southwestern cuisineKachina put a big smile on my face. Given the tremendous service (Martin was our waiter, and he was friendly, busy, informed, enthused, but not at all overbearing), this new Westminster spot in the Westin Hotel wins my vote for great food served by great people. If you love Southwestern cuisine, be ready for a creative variation on the theme. If you don't like Southwestern cuisine, go for a wonderful lesson on creative cooking.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth Trying!!!Food at Kachina is great -- lots of interesting options to try. We'll go back to try more of their offerings. Service was very good overall. Would be a great outdoor spot in nice weather. Very loud in bar & main part of restaurant, a bit more quiet near the back (which is where we sat & were glad).3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Westin did a great jobThe Westin did a great job with bringing in this restaurant! This place is awesome. The style and types of food was very cool! Also, the service was great too!!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery impressive find for suburbsWasn't sure what to expect from a restaurant attached to a hotel in the suburbs but had heard really great things about Kachina before knowing it was by the Westin. I was super impressed by the very friendly service - everyone helped out, not like some places where only your server helped you. The staff anticipated our needs by always glancing at the table when they walked by. The food was very impressive - unique, flavorful, satisfying. Needless to say, I will definitely be back, and often! I'm so glad I found this place... my only regret is not finding it sooner!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLove to sit outside at thisLove to sit outside at this restaurant. Make sure to try something off the food cart if they have it outside while you are there.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!! Try the PricklyAwesome!! Try the Prickly Pear drink! Eat in the dining room for quiet.2/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
