My guest, a first timer, was most delighted with the "great atmosphere, casualness, friendliness, presentation, ambiance, great food, 'waiter's" knowledge and caring attitude.."
She enjoyed the meal, especially, as she says, "the dessert"! This certainly will not be the last time for my guest.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceExcellent food and service was pretty good, I can see they are trying very hard. Overall good experience.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful opportunity forWonderful opportunity for community and love seeing the students progress. Great program. Wish it were all year round.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, as long as you knowGreat, as long as you know it is a practicing work station. Service can be slow, which we appreciated since we didn't need to be elsewhere until later that night. The dessert for birthday girl was a nice surprise and beautiful. How it tasted I don't know since we had dessert from the dessert bar, so we told her to take it home and share with her family.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM5-Star Food At 2-Star PricesI am a regular here and the meal was excellent as always! Food is always superb and the presentation flawless! The servers, though students, aim to please and any mistakes the servers make, is due to learning on the job so certainly can be overlooked. This time, no mistakes and the service was impeccable! I have recommended this restaurant to so many people, that it is now hard to get a reservation...must book 3-4 weeks in advance. But worth it!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe table arrangement madeThe table arrangement made it a very comfortable. There was no noise or distractions from other tables. The seafood dishes were very well received but the lamb shank did not have enough flavor and was somewhat dry. The goat cheese tart and tomatoes were great with comments that I don't usually eat tomatoes but those were good, I could have just had two servings of this salad instead of my entree. Two diners missed the crunch on the top of the creme brulee.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy meal was delicious andMy meal was delicious and the dessert selection was great. My comments for improvements - 1) bread should also be offered after the meal is served2) should have mentioned there was a surcharge for the plantation iced tea4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic experienceAbsolutely a memorable experience. been here a few times now but Amber definitely stood

The ahi salad was amazing. The students learn so much more having to experience patrons in a restaurant environment. Excellent culinary program. Tina is an experienced and patient instructor. She knows how to interact with all the patrons and students and makes them feel comfortable. Highly recommend you make your reservations early.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLearning experience. This is a learning restaurant at the college run by the culinary arts program. It is wonderful to see how interested the students are in learning to run a restaurant.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner was greatLots of good food for a good price. Good variety. Great view of diamond Head. Service was excellent. Overall good experience.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMKa'Ikena is a fine diningKa'Ikena is a fine dining experience that can hold its own against the best restaurants in town. For a special occasion it can't be beat. The menu provides good variety, and the prices are reasonable. The latest reservation available might be a little early for some. The service is nice & friendly & hospitable.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCulinary students servingCulinary students serving what the students (from all over the world) have made - which is almost always outstanding. Bring your own wine, if you wish, and they will serve it. A pleasant room with a lovely view. Gourmet food at average-food prices. We have found it always to be an interesting menu and very good dinner.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant in Hawaii!Homemade cake noodle set the standard from your usual oyster sauce chicken cake noodle. Also great was all of the portions were just right especially when you get soup, salad, appetizer, main entree and dessert.
It was such a great treat to try a variety of different foods prepared in the best way possible, and all in one meal.
My advice, don't change a thing (portion sizes, appetizers, soup/salad, dessert tray, entrees)! I think you guys have really perfected the organization.
Yuuuuuuuuuummmmy!!!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and eager-to-pleaseExcellent food and eager-to-please service from the culinary students. Great view. Noisy but well worth it for the quality of food for the price.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMContagious enthusiasm -- go hereI love love love this place. Is the food he best on Oahu, no (but it is good -- especially for the price). Is the service impeccable? No, the waitstaff made numerous "errors". Why so great? What it is and the attitude This is where Hawaii's young people -- who are really committed to eventually being great -- go to get trained. The enthusiasm and desire to make this the best meal you have ever had is so genuine and so contagious that you cannot help eating your four course dinner for about $35 with a huge smile on your face. Go here. Get reservations early. Know what you are getting into and enjoy mistakes and all. BYOB Also view is amazing go in daylight.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
