As a meeting planner who travels all over America, and lucky enough to visit outstanding restaurants in other cities such as CROP in Cleveland, Rathbun's in Atlanta, Plouffe in San Francisco, and Euclid Hall in Denver, K ranks right up there with the best regional chefs cooking inventive food that tastes wonderful.
Plus, I brought two friends who also work in the meeting business that know food well, and they were so delighted how great the meal was. How we had dessert still can't be explained. You can tell by the quality of the food that it's fresh and they stick to local markets to get what they can't grow. Their Tar Tar made with Filet meat was AMAZING!, the meat just melted in your mouth. My wife had the Duck for dinner and I had the Red Snapper and both were some of the best we have ever had. Their drink selection especially the beers sticks to their roots of Local Only as all the beers on the menu were from Florida brewers. It's a little pricey but I recommend this place for special occasions with your loved one, it's a very quiet and romantic setting place.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbience not what I expectedThe food was great, however, I was expecting a romantic atmosphere, which it was not. It kind of feels like you are eating at your grandma's house but there is weird old school music playing in the background. I was also disappointed that we wanted a 7pm reservation but we were told they were booked until 8pm. We took the 6:30p and we were the only table in the restaurant until about 8pm. Also, I requested a "romantic" table since it was our anniversary and we were sat in the very front of the restaurant, where it is bright. The back of the restaurant had much more of a "romantic" feel in comparison. Also, the staff did not acknowledge our anniversary. The Cobia was perfectly cooked and we really liked the crisp cucumber salad, the yellowtail snapper was amazingly prepared along with the corn relish. We had the lemon layer cake to go, the meringue and cake was well balanced in terms of sweetness. Our server was a riot, entertaining and welcoming. Overall the food is well portioned, reasonable price point, warm staff and very nice menu. I immediately felt comfortable walking into the restaurant due to the very attentive staff. We were seated at a nice two-top in a low (but not too low) lit back area. The menu was filled with locally sourced fare that all looked very appetizing. We both decided to go with the Restaurant Prix Fixe menu. The pork belly app and marinated pork entree with grits was truly a noteworthy experience. The robust wine list has something for everyone. The service is attentive and helpful! The food was outstanding. The menu is small. locally sourced and changes frequently.
I started with the squash blossoms-which is not something you see very often!
The salad with watermelon was delicious and refreshing. I have had green salads with lots of ingredients, but never with watermelon! Loved it!
The pasta was good. My husband said his elk was tasty but cold-he didn't want to send it back during a celebratory dinner.

Whenever we travel, we seek out places like this--where the chef uses local ingredients in a farm-to-table mindset. We were NOT disappointed! This restaurant was excellent. We arrived a bit early for our table (actually before the restaurant opened for dinner) but the server greeted us with a smile and was very accommodating. We ordered three appetizers to share and they were all fantastic. We highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. The entrees were also wonderful and the peach cheesecake was the perfect finish.
