  • "fine food in a lovely atmosphere with very cordial and attentive service"
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "On a Tuesday eve there were only three tables occupied but the food was scrumptious and ,of course, the service was really great. Pierogis and tuna cones (these are a must) for appetizers and I had the duckling. Not one bad thing to eat. I hope this place can survive- it is really a foodie gem. Most wines were under $50 bucks, many delights by the glass. My table mates had seared tuna -also very good. Lemon cheese cake for dessert- another must have. Lucas our waiter was just great and attentive but I'm sure he would have been the same if the place were crowded."

  • "neighborhood gem - excellent service, nice atmosphere and decor ... food was good and selection adequate - will visit again and would recommend"

  • "Like the other reviews said, it is very easy to drive by. It is set back on Rte 9 behind Delta gas station. Once you get there, it is well worth it. We were greeted by friendly hostesses. We arrived early, so my husband and I enjoyed a drink at their cozy bar. The hostess came by the bar and escorted us to our table. The tables are very close to one another, so save the private conversations for another time. My husband had the spicy tuna cones for an appy and loved them! I ate the NY Strip and smashed potatoes. Both were tasty. Save room for dessert! We couldn't decide which we wanted, so we ordered Oreo Zeppoles and Mona Lisa. Both were good, but Mona Lisa was a mixture of rich-creamy mouse and a crispy wafer. Delicious!"

  • "The menu was very interesting and got me very excited about the food we were about to get. The pretzel roll with mustard butter is an awesome twist on the traditional starter bread. I could tell the chef took risks with the menu, but the execution was such a disappointment. The Spicy Tuna Cone were in a tuile cone that was way too sweet which takes away from how amazing the Spicy Tuna flavoring was. The Vegetarian Tower tasted like a bad Chinese restaurant dish which was due to the awful sauce. The Long Island Duck was clearly a grade C duck and I had never had risotto taste and cooked like that. Very disappointing. I think the menu is perfect, the execution just need a lot of work. Someone should taste the food before they serve it."

  • "Overall it was a terrific dining experience. There was a varied choice of appetizers so our party of four ordered six different selections and shared them. All were delicious but the favorite was the goat cheese croquettes. The entrée and desert choices were also delicious with the favorites being the chili glazed short ribs and the chocolate Nutella wontons."

  • "Three stars is a fair rating for this restaurant. Positives: I loved the design of this place. The service was very attentive. The bread was served with the delicious spread. Negatives: While the restaurant was almost empty they sat us at the table blocking the exit door!! So I was basically sitting with my back turned to the restaurant facing the big red exit sign. My aged NY strip was served rare although I asked for medium and the quality was okay only."

  • "Just has quickly become one of our favorite places. We have brought friends here who instantly became fans too. Not to mention that it is really the only fine dining in the area."

  • "A delightful, well thought out atmosphere is immediately apparent upon entering Just. An amusing, innovative menu is presented. Most professional service staff that appears when needed but are never intrusive. They are exceptionally familiar with the restaurant’s wines and demonstrated the ability to describe, in detail, menu offerings. This is a must restaurant experience."

  • "We had a great experience at Just. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was perfectly prepared and all our items were delicious. We were there early on a Saturday evening. The dinning room filled up very quickly so reservations are a good idea. As mentioned by previous reviewers- If you are heading north on Rte 9 you will clearly see the restaurant with a well lit sign, then you just need to take the next turn off to get back south bound... but if you are south bound there is a huge billboard that hides the restaurant behind a gas station so it is easy to drive right past."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Have been there about 8-10 times since it opened. Menu is fresh and often changed for the season. Apps are a treat. Love the pieroggies with the jalepeno infused sour cream. Also enjoyed the mini cheesesteaks. Main courses are plated well and prepared perfectly. Wine list is sufficient for anyone's taste (worth joining their wine club if you go more than once). I am not a big dessert person, but desserts here are fun. I particularly like the donuts served in a mini shopping cart. Service is prompt and very attentive. Love the hidden location behind the gas pumps. Best part is that Just is just 5 minutes from my home. Glad to be able to enjoy a fine dining experience in a local restaurant. --- The Rave"

  • "Although food was very good, ambiance and service were pleasant, prices were very high for the setting. The prices called for tablecloths and more refined service & more upscale ambiance. The prices might defer a rapid return trip for a casual weekday meal."

  • "I booked a table for my husband and I for Valentines Day. We were very excited to eat here since the menu was so enticing. We were pretty disappointed, though, when the prix fix menu was e mailed to me and it was very simple. Even the waiter apologized for the menu options as we were seated. The waiter and the runner seemed inexperienced as they forgot and also served our meal to another table. The food was fresh and wonderful, but I was disappointed that the lobster bisque was a broth. We had to pay and extra $20 each for lobster in our bisque. Overall, I look forward to trying this restaurant on a non holiday night. It is very pricey, but the food is the best that I have eaten in a very long time."

  • "You'll need to look carefully so as not to miss the location of this restaurant off of route 9S behind the Delta gas station and next to the Asian church, but it is well worth the search! Food was outstanding, service was attentive and friendly, and the drinks are generous and delicious. Would definitely go back, and great for groups of friends."

  • "we loved Just All of the food we ordered was outstanding and our waiter was great Its a bit pricey but the food is worth it Strange location (behind a gas station) but once you get inside you will be glad you came. Would definately go back!"

  • "My fiancé and I had dinner here on a Sat night. The location is pretty strange, right behind a gas station, so it’s pretty easy to past on Rt 9. Overall the ambience is gorgeous and the staff was amazing and attentive. The food was “okay”. For appetizers, I ordered the calamari and my fiancé ordered the mini cheeseburgers, which was delicious. However, for the entrees I order the sea bass and he ordered the lamb which I personally thought needed more flavor on both. Overall, I will come back to this restaurant but only to sit at the bar for drinks and appetizers."

  • "Keep your eyes peeled because it's HARD to find Just, but WELL worth the effort! The menu is creative, and I believe it changes quarterly. It is a very eclectic menu, and the food is WONDERFUL! When you find the address, don't think that you've made a mistake...you DO have to drive THROUGH a gas station to reach the restaurant! The decor is beautiful, and immaculate. The food is styled beautifully, and delicious, as I said earlier. It is NOT inexpensive, but you get what you pay for...delicious food! We will definitely be back! If you are at all in doubt, try their Mon.-Thurs. "happy hour" which goes from 5:30-7:00 p.m., and try some of their half priced appetizers. You will also be drinking some half priced drinks. YUM!"

  • "From the moment we were seated, the total experience was delightful. The decor was inviting tasteful, interesting and comfortable. The wait staff were friendly and helpful, the food presentation was beautiful. Our drinks were well made and the food was delicious. The owner gave much thought to everything, so many nice touches. We enjoyed a ver lovely evening at Just. We will most certainly return."

  • "I love to see restaurants succeed! Just is a GREAT restaurant, but I would NEVER have known about it (since I live a distance away), were it not for a Groupon coupon. Having that AND our Garmin GPS in hand, we set out to find it. What a frustrating trip THAT was! Our GPS does NOT like their address, for one thing. Even if you just follow the numbers on the neighboring buildings, you would NEVER guess that it's HIDDEN behind a Delta gas station! Forgive me, Just, because I love eating there (we've gone twice now) but I think you're doing yourself a disservice by being in such a BIZARRE location! I wish you'd move to a better location, because i KNOW you would attract more customers! I DON'T want you to fail because of being hidden!"

  • "Food is very good albeit a little on the expensive side for central NJ. Desserts are fun and usually very good. Except for their version of the cronut which was dry and unsatisfying."

  • "A building behind a gas station off Route 9...in Old Bridge. Despite the good reviews, I was concerned. I needn't have been. This New American with an asian flare exceeded expectations in nearly all respects. Salads were hearty, the lengthy appetizer menu said "one of each please," and the entrees were substantial and perfectly prepared. We went on a Sunday night and there were only three other tables along with ours. We drank a bit, so the bill was hearty as well, but I have paid a lot more for a lot less. We'll go back."

  • "Outstanding food with creative, innovative dishes, especially the appetizers and the martini cocktails. I wish this place succeeds for the location is awkward. Hope Jersey diners find this hot spot and embrace it. I am in the restaurant business and appreciate the effort and thought that has gone in to Just. Next time you think of dining in Manhattan think of Just."

  • "The food and service are consistently excellent ! The bar staff is very friendly and mixed up a nice drink . It is a little pricey and some of our friends find the portions on the small side...for us it's just enough ! Don't miss desert!!"

  • "Generally my experience at this restaurant was good. A brioche sliders appetizer made a delightful start to the meal and lobster risotto dish ended it with a bang. My only problem with the place was the price. Our check for three people topped $144 without alcohol, dessert, or coffee which puts this restaurant into Ruth's Chris, KC Prime, and Morton's territory which it is not -- the restaurant is located in a gas station parking lot and shares a facade with a liquor store. Also, any place that charges for a soda refill is a good place to avoid."

  • "Pros: - Nice decor and ambiance. - Good food. On the surface, some of it might seem strange, but it works. For instance, the bacon quinoa tacos. Odd, but tasty. Perhaps they were a bit too heavy. The Mediterranean Calamari didn't work for us as it was way too acidic. - Good service. Although there were some problems (see Cons). - Decent wine list. - Interesting mixed drinks. Cons: - Our server didn't know wine list well, nor was she able to recommend a wine. She was able to ask and get answers to our questions, but she should really know the wine list better. - The music is a bit loud and once the restaurant filled up, it was difficult to converse with my companion. - Strangely located behind a gas station on Rt. 9 in Old Bridge."

  • "We dined here for NYE & really loved it. We were seated promptly & service was perfect. We were pleasantly surprised by the portions of the 5 course meal. The gnocchi was the only average item; everything else was above average such as the burrata, beet/goat cheese, crab cake, short rib, tagliatelle, lamb, halibut & amazing churro, salted caramel pot de creme w/ whipped cream. We weren't rushed. I hope if they do this again, they don't change things because most places for NYE overbook so you're table isn't ready, make you put a deposit & give you regular menu at higher prices. The only suggestions I could give maybe is have a second dessert choice, do an intermezzo sorbet spoon like they used to, have the popovers they used to."

  • "We have gone to Just several times in the two years it has been open. At the beginning the food was SUPERB - yes, expensive, but worth every penny. This trip the food was GOOD, but no longer superb. From the pretzel bread to the homemade donut dessert, things just weren't as good as previously. We don't know if this is a quality control issue, or a matter of economics, but if you're going to charge these prices the food has to stay at the top."

  • "I have had 2 very good experiences at JUST, where I have raved about the food and ambience, even though you are in a gas station. This time, it was JUST ok. Appetizer was great, but my steak was dry and not very good. I would give it another chance, but not as excited about it as I used to be."

  • "Living a few miles away and passing this restaurant daily, we decided to try it to celebrate some upcoming birthdays. We made a reservation for 7. I was a little apprehensive, as this restaurant shares an entrance with a gas station. I am so glad we got past that!! the decor is modern and clean, nice bar area and large open dining area. We were seated in a semi private circular alcove, which was perfect for our group. The wait and support staff were very attentive, bar drinks were well done, food was fantastic and diverse menu, presentation was perfect. We did go on a Sat. night and I would recommend reservations if you don't like to wait. This is a hidden gem for Old Bridge, NJ!"

  • "Very odd location for a restaurant as others have said. Appetizers (potato perigees and salad) were very tasty and the portions were large, For the entrees…..steaks were our choice . They came out cooked perfectly. Should not have ordered desert as we were both full!. Service was very good. I think I would recommend the restaurant for special occasions as it is a bit pricey but none the less very good."

  • "Just was a nice surprise. Tucked away behind a gas station on US Rte 9 is not the place where you normally go looking for fine dining, but this was unique and worth it. The cocktails were perfectly mixed and generous. The manager stopped by our table to ask how we had learned about the restaurant, how we were enjoying our experience and to make some recommendations for dinner. The tuna cones appetizer was wonderful, something we'd never had before; crispy and spicy and soft and sweet, all at the same time. The lobster fried rice was incredible and the wine-infused pasta was delicious and beautiful to look at; I added the shrimp and they were perfectly cooked. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Keep up the good work."

  • "Whoever wrote the menu was very creative and awesome at his/her job. However, the food did not come close to what the descriptions were on the menu. It was a poor attempt at trying to recreate NYC food scene into the suburbs. Presentation of the food was good but the taste was just bad."

  • "Just is a little hard to find. It sits directly behind a gas station which you have to drive through to get to the parking lot. I ordered the beef tenderloins. They were just slightly pink and I had asked for medium. They were served with smashed potatoes which were ok, nothing special. The food was presented nicely but overall, the prices were too high. I wouldn't recommend Just."
