A word from Junoon Restaurant
Derived from the Hindi word meaning passion, Junoon delivers on the promise of its moniker with an authentic, yet elegantly modern take on Indian cuisine. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj, inspired by his deep affinity and commitment to the food and culture of his native India, has assembled a talented team, who share his same vision including celebrated chef and cookbook author, Vikas Khanna, helming Junoon's kitchen as Executive Chef.

Don't forget to peak into Junnon's one-of-a-kind Spice Room where an array of fresh spices are ground daily and made into a unique blend to be used in the marinades and sauces for the day.

Diner Reviews
  • "Used to be my favorite spot - but now the focus seems to have shifted to money. They have imposed 35 usd, for us who do not drink alcohol is steep which meant we ad to order a lot more food than we wanted."

  • "For a celebrity chef and Michelin star this place serves just about ok Indian food. There are lower end places which serve better food. Service is very slow. Maybe they do better at dinner time but RW lunch was just about ok"

  • "Always great to have lunch or dinner here. Food is amazing. Service was somehow a bit off this time. It all felt 'removed' and dry. We initially got a wrong menu (we found out as my lunch partner and I referred to dishes we wanted to choose that the other didn't have). It was hard to find the right waiter although the restaurant was not busy at all."

  • "My wife and I traveled in from New Jersey for New York City restaurant week which we've done many times at many places...although the food was good, the serving sizes were laughable. I understand its restaurant week but three shrimp is not dinner. Two spoonfuls of bread pudding is not dessert. We even ordered an extra appetizer which was the biggest thing that we had. No one is forcing them to participate in restaurant week, I was just left with the impression that they were being cheap.."

  • "Portions are just right for lunch - appetizers were great."

  • "Restaurant week 2014 summer. Tried lunch menu. Chicken tikka, lamb shank curry and spiced chocolate cheesecake with wine pairing. Well selected wines. Hint of spice in the chocolate was awesome. Server offerred extra nan in addition to rice. So, could enjoy both tastes."

  • "I have been there before too but this time the food was bad, bland and really not worth the name of it............the service was good but the other servers just keep on laughing looking at other customers"
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "Had the Restaurant Week menu. Cauliflower appetizer and shrimp main course. Delicious flavors in both courses. Service not rushed and very pleasant. Would like to go back and try the $85 six course tastings menu."

  • "We were looking for a good upscale Indian restaurant in this area as Tamarind has moved. We had the tasting menu, the food was good, but it was the most non Indian food I have had in an Indian restaurant. The service was extremely slow, dinner took 4 hours!.. Overall , a modest experience. Not horrible, but not worth going back again."

  • "The best Indian food I've ever had. The variety of the menu meant something for everyone. We opted for the wine pairing which really enhanced the meal. The decor is gorgeous, the service impeccible. A great deal during Restaurant week."

  • "We decided to try Junoon's Restaurant Week menu, and were really impressed. The food was artfully prepared, interesting and delicious. As much as we enjoyed the top notch interpretation of Indian cuisine, the wine pairings nearly stole the show. The sommelier's brief explanations for his choices were genuinely helpful, and the pairings themselves were superb. This was our first visit to Junoon, and their dining room is calm, spacious and inviting. The staff are attentive and friendly. In short, we had a great meal."

  • "When a restaurant has a pretentious sommelier and expensive prices and insists on business casual dress in the dining room and no kids allowed, you should not be RUSHED by the wait staff, who brought a check before we asked for it, and prior to that tried to take away dishes before we done, and started off by hovering over us while we tried to decide what to order instead of offering to give us a few minutes to decide."
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "One of the best Indian restuarant in NYC. I see why it has a Michelin Star. The rice pudding for dessert was very delicious. I wish i had more."

  • "We made reservations for an early evening romantic birthday dinner. We were especially impressed by the care taken to make the night a phenomenal experience. The tasting menu was well-worth it."

  • "I have now taken friends, family and clients here over the course of a year. Each time, the food and service has been exceptional. The wine list is particularly good and the Michael, the sommelier, always recommends the right wine and not the most expensive wine. Everyone I have taken to Junoon has left very impressed."

  • "super friendly and accomodating staff. was fasting for ramadan and came for dinner , my table was to be ready in 10-15mins but the host was super sweet for getting me seated faster so i wouldnt have to wait to eat. The server was also very helpful by going through the menu. good experience. classy place for a date too or family dinner."

  • "We loved the delicacy of the meal, the perfect pairing with the wines and the witty little surprises like chaat which is street food. But transformed by their extraordinary hand for spice."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "The pomegranate kulfi in particular, isn't available anywhere else."

  • "Had an absolutely wonderful experience at Junoon. I'm from India but what Junoon has done is redefined Indian dining and food experience. The colleagues I went with basically said: "Wow, I did not think Indian food could be served like this. This has totally changed my perception of Indian food". Taken the Indian dining experience to a fine dining experience, coupled with great service and great wine."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Service was outstanding, décor and setting are clearly a step above most Indian restaurants. An app called Lamb "kebob" ($20) was really a plated, beautifully presented dish of several pieces of perfectly cooked, tender meat, with no kabob skewer in sight. That was the highlight dish. Other dishes were all fine, but in light of the prices ($14 for dal, $26 for mediocre chicken biryani) we expected mind-blowing food. Go here if you want to impress a date or a client. Go elsewhere if you just want good Indian food at reasonable prices."

  • "This was a great delicious dining experience both times I went here recently. The Salmon Kebabs are delicious, the Lamb Chops were perfect, and the Lobster Curry , well just writing about it is making me want to go back."

  • "this was my second time here. As an Indian American, who cooks traditional Indian food, I love going here. Every dish is a real left turn from the standard Indian fare- in a good way. The dishes are inspired and unusual to anyone, familiar or unfamiliar with the cuisine. the portions are small so order accordingly. the naan peshawari stuffed with dried fruit was really delicious. And the onion Kulcha is mandatory! I had lobster curry. It was a little strange but I liked it. the cauliflower and eggplant appetizers were among the best. Good choice for vegetarians, OK for vegans. A great place to bring friends and clients. only drawback, a little too dimly lit, had trouble seeing my food clearly."

  • "My wife and I had Lunch at Junoon. The restaurant had only a few table full. The food was the best Indian food I had tasted outside India. I ambience was very pleasant and the service excellent. I would recommend the restaurant highly."

  • "The food is not good anymore. It was great when Vikas Khanna was the chef. Now the food is cooked by some random people. And it is still expensive. There are better high end Indian restaurants in NYC."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Food wasn't prepared to order; I think it was heated up when served to me. The waiter was sort of rude until I complained about it. Mosquitoes flying about."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "I cannot wait to go back again. Best Indian food in the city with a great wine list that was unexpected. Service was tag team like with someone at our table on a non stop basis. A real gem."

  • "Was very excited to go and have lunch at Junoon but was disappointed with taste of the food.. It was not great.. I had great expectations but i would rate it avg.. Service and ambiance was great but taste was just avg."

  • "The restaurant is an amazing one for Indian food. I was visiting for the 1st time and so had done my reservation but they had a dress code for the dining area which i dint knew about but the staff was too helpful and the manager gave us the permission to sit in the dining lounge. It was a great gesture from the staff which we loved. But we preferred sitting in the Patiala Lounge as the Ambiance was great. Food is amazing specially the "Lasooni Gobi". We loved the food. Even the staff and service was amazing. A wonderful Experience overall"

  • "I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times now. The food is always very good--everything we had was equally well prepared--but the service in the most recent visit was a little too much in our face and a little off in the timing. Nevertheless, I will go back again because I am willing to overlook this one flaw unless it happens again."
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "Food was nothing short of delicious here. A bit on the pricey end, but the portions you get are much worth it. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city."

  • "had weekday lunch thali for $25. excellent value, very tasty though would have enjoyed even spicier food than provided. perhaps should have chosen alacarte or non-thali lunch. distinguished restaurant. remarkable service."
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "I dont mind spending money on a really good meal but when a small sea bass fillet costs $32 shouldn't a tiny drop come with it? Make sure to ask about spice levels--our $19 brussel sprouts (basically a side dish) was so hot we could not eat it whereas other dishes were bland..."

  • "The service was awesome. Multiple times during the night there wanna server or busboy nearby to assist us promptly. The menu offers an array of diverse dishes all rooted in Indian cuisine. Wonderful options. The executive chef has done an amazing job designing a menu which gets the taste buds stimulated while reading the menu. "
