A word from Junoon Restaurant
Derived from the Hindi word meaning passion, Junoon delivers on the promise of its moniker with an authentic, yet elegantly modern take on Indian cuisine. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj, inspired by his deep affinity and commitment to the food and culture of his native India, has assembled a talented team, who share his same vision including celebrated chef and cookbook author, Vikas Khanna, helming Junoon's kitchen as Executive Chef.

Don't forget to peak into Junnon's one-of-a-kind Spice Room where an array of fresh spices are ground daily and made into a unique blend to be used in the marinades and sauces for the day.

  • "Since moving to NYC, I have often walked by Junoon & been taken with the beauty of the decor. A month ago, I was able to plan a dinner there and have been back on an almost weekly basis since. This is hands-down my favorite restaurant at the moment. Every thing about Junoon is impeccsble..from the crisp, attentive, but not overly intrusive, service. To the amazing food (the lamb shank is out of this world). to the wonderful wine list. To the beautiful decor....it does not disappoint. David & Sandeep work together to ensure everything is seamless. Jessica, who is usually the first person who greets me when I begin the night with cocktails in the beautiful bar, will usually come by the table at least once to ensure that all is well ."

  • "We had an outstanding tasting menu. Since my wife isnt to fond of Lamb it was exchanged for a course from the vegetarian option which made my wife very happy. All courses in the meal will be remembered by us for quite a while. Staff is well organised,extremely polite and very willing to please . Only problem was a group in a seperate area of the restaurant which was very loud and used mic's to amplify some speeches."

And they charge for every little thing- rice, sauces etc. Portions are small etc. BUT it was delicious, and the service was good, and the Ginger Punch cocktail was DELICIOUS. Its definitely worth checking out for something different and special."

  • "Took the wife here for her bday dinner. On the reservation, stated as such and the hosts were accomodating from the get go. We are vegetarian diners, and the food was exceptional. Eggplant chaat was very light and flavorful. The Kofta were amazing, spiced perfectly. Daal Makhani was superb, we couldn't get enough of it. And lastly the dessert...there was nothing left on the plate. The restaurant handed my wife a personalized menu with her name and date to commemorate the celebration. We will definitely be coming back again."

  • "My review is based on this being a Michelin Star restaurant. It severely disappoints from that aspect. Vij in Vancouver is by far a much deserving restaurant for that award. Food is average and there is very little innovation. Save the money and go to Tamarind or Devi for better food and less price point."

  • "The hub & I used a Groupon for a 5-course tasting menu, paired with wines, for 2. Already fans of Indian food, we were delighted with the flavors; he was particularly surprised to enjoy the tandoori octopus, as he is not usually a fan of seafood. The sommelier was endearingly enthusiastic about his offerings & it was a pleasure to experience choices we would not have thought to connect on our own. When I made our reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary; the staff wished us well & when dessert came, the plates were decorated with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate & a candle. Their thoughtfulness is very much appreciated! Perhaps we will celebrate more milestones of wedded bliss with this delicious upscale cuisine."

  • "Really good food ruined by horrible service... Not quite sure what the deal is here considering the prices and the 4 star rating but horrible horrible horrible service. The staff was not rude by any means but unattentive. Our dinner for 3 people took over an house to get ready and to come to our table. Constantly had to ask for water refills and drinks .. Felt like I was at a nice resturamt but with the staff from the local pizzeria. And we went at 10 Pm as well on a Friday night. So they were not busy. Will Recommend the food but not the resturant it self Retrain your entire staff members. At the moment they represent a 1 star establishments staff compared to a five stars"

  • "When I think about the top level of NYC dining, Indian food doesn't usually come to mind. I love Indian food; however, the food at Junoon is truly something special. Dishes are elevated to a level I had no idea that they could reach. The service here is aways outstanding. They have created a work culture where everyone at the restaurant seems to sincerely want to do anything they can to make sure you have the best experience possible. The general manager Sandeep is extremely knowledgeable about their wine selection. He can recommends some great pairs for your dishes. Sandeep is probably the nicest person I've ever met."

  • "My husband and I had a marvelous dinner experience, even though it was a Saturday night. From the door staff to the backwaiters, everyone made us feel most welcome. We were expecting a very good meal, and each dish we had surpassed that. Wine list was fairly comprehensive without being over-the-top, and prices were reasonable. For couples looking to sit close to one another: our corner banquette table (37?) offered a great view of the room and kept noise levels quite comfortable for conversation."

  • "I mentioned in my reservation that it was for my husband's birthday. When we arrived, we were seated immediately and served beverages as soon as we decided what to have. The staff made us feel so special the entire evening. The tasting menu was well-balanced and very filling. The cocktails were imaginative and unique. My favorite was the Bourbon Rose, and my husband's was the Tandoori Tequila. The music fits perfectly with the decor and the mood of the evening. My husband felt like a prince all evening."

  • "We were a little disappointed in the quality of the food. The roasted chiken was dry and the chicken breast was served with too much sauce. Service was a bit rushed. Our server spoke so fast that a person that was not familiar with Indian cuisine would have been lost. The the chunks of paneer were huge, too large for an appetizer portion. The sorbets were delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the lighting adds to the ambiance."

  • "I went to Junoon for a special birthday dinner celebration -- the staff were lovely -- providing us with complimentary champagne and a nice sparkler with dessert. We all ordered the 5 course tasting menu -- I would not order it again because, with the exception of the saag paneer/gnocchi course, the other 4 courses were "hoo hum" and not special at all. The tandoori quail was extremely dry. Quail is a hard meat to cook perfectly and Junoon failed to do so. The lamb course could have been traditional lamb vindaloo. And, the dessert was some caradom spiced cake with no pizazz. We were sadly disappointed because Chef Khanna didn't get that Michelin star for the tasting menu courses we sampled."

  • "Went here to celebrate a new job for a friend and it was a great experience. Had a cocktail at the bar-highly recommend the Tandoori Tequila-followed by dinner in the main doing room. The space is quite large and the tables are pretty spaced out so it's very private. Our waiter Pepe was phenomenal and made several excellent wine pairing recommendations. The food was perfectly prepared-nothing too outside the box, but lovely presentation and authentic flavors. Would definitely return."

  • "The restaurant is spacious and modern, with Indian touches and well-spaced tables. I limited myself to the fixed price Thali option, which was a very satisfying assortment of shrimp, lamb, chicken, each with a different, delicious sauce, along with thick dahl, rice, and a beautifully herbed and refreshing yogurt raisa with pomegranate seeds. The meats were perfectly trimmed, lean, and tender. The roti bread that came with it was warm and crisp. The spices used are sourced with care, and ground daily in a room downstairs visible through a picture window. Dessert was a small square of delicate passion fruit mousse on a sponge cake base, surrounded by dollups of passion fruit coulis with their fine seeds. I look forward to my next visit."

The chicken tandoori was tasty. The lamb curry was room temp and dry. Dessert was good. Naan was terrific. Creative food but inconsistent. Service was great. Very accommodating and nice service. I would go back again to try the ala carte menu. Bar area was spacious and nice."
