Junoon RestaurantOutstanding .my second timeOutstanding .my second time eating here .this is an experience.
Chef vikas khanna has done an extra ordinary job
He deserves all the applause6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good. Our waiterThe food was good. Our waiter apologized profusely as a simple item like plain Lassi is not on the menu.I am a diabetic and a non-carbonated soft drink without real sugar is not on the menu suggesting that all the cold beverages are made in bulk and stored for ????length of time.
Price for the food quality and breadth of variety available is amazingly low.I live in a medium sized Midwestern city and have not seen such value.
Will visit the place everytime I am in Chicago and find some excuse to take my friends there!!
Keep up the good work.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food but a little expensiveNice restaurant with upscale ambience, great service, food is very good but is a little on the expensive side.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentThe food, level of service and ambiance were excellent! We love very spicy food, and the level of spice was very high. It was so good that we couldn't stop eating, but my husband was sweating for a full hour after. We would still want the same level of spice, but I would suggest waiters ask their patron's their level of spice tolerance, as I personal know people who could not have taken it! Or just make sure to let them know what you can take. We had a gilt city coupon for 5 course tasting with wine pairings. The food: The lotus salad, bass, lamb and sprimp, duck, and dessert were amazing amazing, the wine pairs were top notch! Can't wait to go back!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA must visitGreat food - variety as well as quality, coupled with good service. A must visit.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & great serviceHad a great time catching up with friends. Tables are well spaced out and noise level was quiet so were able talk to one another without yelling. Service was excellent, chef was accomodating (he made us something we requested that wasn't on the menu). Place also has a nice lounge5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFinest Indian restaurant thatFinest Indian restaurant that I have ever dined at. We have been there several times and look forward to returning.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentThis is my third time here. It just keeps getting better.
Wonderful food; excellent service; great wine choices; very nice ambience.
Congratulations Junoon5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding ExperienceThe restaurant is possibly one of the best in the world and Mr Deepak Shah, the GM for Operations in partnership with Chef and the host of service staff make it truly a memorable experience. The quality of food is outstanding with rich flavors and taste.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Indian cuisineIf your preference is for authentic Indian food, served by knowledgeable staff, in an elegant environment, then this is the place!
Every dish has its own distinct flavor, each cooked in the way that best suits the ingredients. An outstanding wine list to complement what you've ordered is genius, ESP for Indian cuisine, which can be a challenge to pair the right wine with.
I don't usually like Indian desserts, but here,I love the rice pudding!
Well done , I haven't had a bad meal at Junoon.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian in ManhattanThis is not our first time here but tonight's meal was exceptional. The bartender went out of his way to make custom cocktails not offered on the menu, great start. We really appreciate the variety, both in regions and cooking methods. Every dish is flavorful without being super spicy (unless that is what you want). Especially enjoyed the lamb chops and the lobster curry. Not to be missed if you are in the area! Great for lunch as well.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent FoodExcellent and delicious food. Junoon has Vikas Khanna who is a very famous Indian Chef who hosts food shows in India. Food was simply superb. The menu has great options for veg and meat eaters. Just try it out! you will love it.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThe food was amazing, the dishes were traditional yet innovative.. The service was pretty slow but the good food made up for it. Would appreciate it if they would serve complimentary pickles and salad to go with the bread and curry..5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food-Non "indian" decorExcellent food & menu. More new indian than traditional dishes. Loved it!
Decor and overall vibe is very non-traditional for an indian restaurant. Wouldn't hesitate to go for business lunch/dinner or just a night out.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food.....my wifeFantastic food.....my wife is a ig fan of Chef Vikas Khanna and the restaurant lived up to its hype5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian food I've hadAn Indian friend recommended this place for our trip to NYC. My wife and I are vegetarians. We had the vegetarian tasting menu. Everything was creative, delicious, with a pleasing variety of flavors. The price was not unreasonable considering the quality of food and service. We were pleasantly surprised that our waitress immediately knew of our vegetarian preference and my wife's food intolerance and allergies, which I had included with our Open Table reservation. I've provided similar information with reservations to other high end restaurants and found the information was lost or ignored. My glass of Pinot Noir was excellent. All in all, I recommend this restaurant highly for anyone interested in a vegetarian food adventure.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful flavorsFabulous dinner ..the vegetarian tasting menu was wonderful ... The sommelier was great and gave us some great info about the food a and regions... Will definately go again5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing Indian foodbest Indian food that I have had in the city - and wonderful service4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMCurry LoveWhat a wonderful experience at a truly wonderful restaurant. Welcome was warm and friendly and staff very attentive. Had the taster menu and matching wine tasting and is was just adorable. A lovely mouche bouche was followed by very tasty cold pea soup and various cooking techniques of lotus root which was very pleasant indeed. The main course of curried Lobster (although a little hot for my partner) was without doubt the finest curry I have ever eaten, it was just delightful. The spiced lamb chops followed that were to die for followed by 2 excellent desserts (my partner having a special dessert as it was her 50th birthday week). Any curry fiends from the UK heading to New York wanting a special treat then this is an absolute must!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestJunoon is one of the very few restaurants that blend inventive and fresh menu with impeccable and unobtrusive service and tasteful decor into an unforgettable experience. The salmon and the duck were outstanding. So were the two rieslings. It was in unexpected discovery and we can't wait to dine there again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNeed more variety of food.Need more variety of food. More creativity needed in food prep. Shrimp piri piri was excellent. Paneer salan was only fair.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome in its awesomeness.Walking in felt like a posh London Indian restaurant. Quickly off to our table, and seated. Very nice, large room with tables of actual Indian people enjoying themselves - so this must be good... and it was even better than that - it was great. Somehow they made Cauliflower taste like General Tsang's chicken. Just amazing. Also had the Fried eggplant which were like potato chips - also great. They have many adventurous main courses but we aren't into goat, lamb, etc... so we went with Lobster Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala. Again - off the charts good. Delicious naans also. Chutney sampler too. Overall, the best we've had in NY other than Tamarind in Tribeca. Hey, you get what you pay for.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe prix-fixe menu was a goodThe prix-fixe menu was a good choice to experience the tastes this restaurant had to offer. The food itself was fine and boasting with flavours - the lobster curry being a bit too hot for our taste, the waiting staff offered us some raita to smooth out the burn. The service was nice and friendly, but still at times a bit clumsy and a gave out a feeling of inexperience. Overall, this was a nice restaurant, which I could recommend further.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent! I wouldFood was excellent! I would say, they can dial down the amount of cream in veg entrée. Otherwise very good food, seating and ambience4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMJunoon is quite expensive,Junoon is quite expensive, but the food is universally excellent. We did the wine pairing menu, and everything they brought out was exquisite. Definitely a treat!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI selected this place forI selected this place for a small group of colleagues to enjoy a birthday lunch with a senior associate we all work closely with. The location was ideal – just a few minutes walking distance from our office in the Flatiron and the food… oh, the food… incredible! The $20 Pre-Fix menu was perfect and the presentation was amazing! Service if very deliberate here; I felt the luxury of India. I can’t wait to go back!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery time I dine at JunoonEvery time I dine at Junoon I'm taken to a new level of excellence. This time it was the 5 course tasting menu and each dish was better than the last. I can't recommend highly enough.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMfood overall very good(notfood overall very good(not great )and somewhat overpriced . may need to change menu font as place is very dark and several people throughout took out smartphone app flashlights to read.
Beautiful atmosphere but in no rush to go back. Ordeded 2 apps, bread, 2 main dishes, (along with rice which is extra), a side of dal (12$), 2 expensive drinks (approx 15 each) and waiter still tried to upsell us on extras albeit in a nice way.
Havent been upscale Indian since Tabla closed...still loooking4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good.Even thoughFood was good.Even though we asked for reservations,it almost took an hour to be seated.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIndian nouveau for AmericanIndian nouveau for American palates. Not spicy, somewhat bland.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is delicious, andThe food is delicious, and some choices were spicy, we were advised about them4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 19.95 prix fixeWe had the 19.95 prix fixe lunch which allows you to choose one appetizer and one main dish. You then get your choice of nan or rice. I opted for an optional aloo paratha, and my companion and I shared the breads and rice.
You do not get any papadum, chutney or onion kulcha with this meal. We both plumped for the noorani (like a reshmi) kebab which was four small slices with a bit of green sauce. I had the vegetarian nafti kofta and my colleague had the hydrabadi chicken dish. Both were excellent but the portions were too small. I would much rather have paid $24.95 for an adequate portion. The choice of bread or rice is also a bit parsimonious. Charge me $24.95, give me bread and rice, and a bit of papadum. Good glass of Gewurztraminer.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Junoon. The quality of the food, accompanying wine, and the service is perhaps unmatched in the City. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for the best Indian food.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restuarant with someGreat restuarant with some outstanding dishes. Enjoyed my time!!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMalways good. consistent sincealways good. consistent since its opening. no complaints.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExpensive but good. Not sureExpensive but good. Not sure it is that much better than other Indian restaurants, but the ambiance is so much better it is worth the price.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food but arrivedExcellent food but arrived fairly slowly and it could have been hotter; despite that the food and the variety were great.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed all of the entreesI enjoyed all of the entrees we ordered, including the Mahi Mahi, Chicken Tikka and the Chick Pea curry. The eggplant appetizer was really great!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, Ambience, Service wasFood, Ambience, Service was very good.
I have just one suggestion please expand the menu with vegetarian and non vegetarian items.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choice for brunch/lunch!This was my second time too Junoon, but my first time for brunch/lunch. The pris fix and thali options make this a great place for a nice meal at an affordable price. The brunch specials are atypical for Indian restaurants, and the thali lets your try small amounts of many dishes. And, unlike dinner, it is not crowded and noisy. The food was great, but I am writing this review about the service. Corey, our waiter, was absolutely fantastic. He was well informed about everything on the menu and went above and beyond to make sure our group had everything we needed to enjoy a special meal. We didn't have any wine, as it was early in the day, but Corey gave us a free lesson on wine pairings, as Junoon has a rapidly growing wine cellar.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first trip toThis was my first trip to Junoon and it was very good. I had the goat and my husband had the monkfish and both were outstanding! For dessert we had the Date Fig Gateau. We both agreed that it was THE BEST dessert we have ever had.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA eautiful restaurant withA eautiful restaurant with exquisite Indian food. A gem.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe top gourmet Indian in ManhattanUndoubtedly the finest gourmet Indian restaurant in Manhattan.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSplurge for the prix fixe menuEnjoyed the prix fixe vegetarian dinner ... overall tasty and fairly large quantities but not too filling.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely lunchI usually go to Junoon for dinner. This time, I met two girlfriends for lunch. Not only was the food delicious - fresh and tasty - but also the presentation was beautiful. We had a lovely lunch in a zen like atmosphere. The pre-fix was quite nice too. Try Junoon for dinner or lunch.1/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
