A word from Junoon Restaurant
Derived from the Hindi word meaning passion, Junoon delivers on the promise of its moniker with an authentic, yet elegantly modern take on Indian cuisine. Restaurateur Rajesh Bhardwaj, inspired by his deep affinity and commitment to the food and culture of his native India, has assembled a talented team, who share his same vision including celebrated chef and cookbook author, Vikas Khanna, helming Junoon's kitchen as Executive Chef.

Don't forget to peak into Junnon's one-of-a-kind Spice Room where an array of fresh spices are ground daily and made into a unique blend to be used in the marinades and sauces for the day.

It's possible to enjoy Indian food without it being so spicy you are uncomfortable. But it's not easy here. We ordered the eggplant appetizer, which the waiter said was a favorite item. It consisted of little round fried disks (tasty) covered in dark and light sauces in squiggles. They didn't taste good and also made the dish too spicy for me. My waiter asked how spicy I wanted my entree on a scale of 1-10. I said 1 yet my mouth was on fire with the first bite. I did appreciate that the chef made me a different entree that was tasty without being aflame. Although I wasn't pleased with the food, it was a beautiful room with tables spread comfortably apart.

I've dined at Junoon several times. It is truly outstanding. The ambiance and service made the outstanding menu shine. A great lunch , Thali, at $25 is a true bargain, several small plates served in a most attractive fashion. For dinner I had Piri-Piri Shrimp, seasoned to perfection and cooked just right. My entre was lamb shank that had the most wonderful spices. Others in my party dined on wonderfully tasting vegetarian dishes. Everything is served in beautifully designed platters by a most attentive staff. Desserts are typical, but the wine list anything but. Wines from all over the world are available and some outstanding values can be found. Dining at Junoon is a remarkable experience.

some dishes were more traditional, and all used typical Indian spices. on the other hand, it is not everywhere that has lobster in a curry sauce with hearts of palm, which was outstanding. as good as it was, the lamb shank was even better. the wait staff was extremely helpful with recommendations. the sommelier was engaging and extremely knowledgeable. we cannot wait to go back. as much as my wife loved it, i would probably want to go with a larger group next time so that we can share an even bigger variety of dishes.

What a lovely restaurant in terms of food quality, atmosphere, and service. This is not your usual Indian cuisine. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients seasoned to perfection. They grind their own spices daily to be used in the dishes prepared that day. Junoon is a real find.

The food that my partner and I ate at Junoon was exceptional, the portions were huge and we were very full by the time we finished dinner but it was all too good to stop eating! The service was brilliant too, a very knowledgeable waiter and any questions we had were answered comprehensively. The only problem we had was the table was a little small to fit all the wonderful food on - a very minor flaw and really not a big problem at all. Other than that, all positive, well done Junoon.

We were looking forward to celebrating my husband's surprise 40th Bday. Very disappointing that we were notified after arriving at Junoon that they no longer seated children in the dining hall and relegated families to the bar. Families and especially kids should not be treated as 2nd class citizens. Truly disappointing since this is an Indian restaurant where I would think family values mattered. We decided to take our celebration elsewhere where families can enjoy.

This is truly upscale Indian dining, nothing like the restaurants on Curry Hill. The service was outstanding and there were menu items I've never seen anywhere else. The desserts were off the hook. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine you must try it.

We went for a special family dinner and were looking forward to it. After booking, we were disappointed to find that our table wasn't ready and we were left waiting half an hour for it. Thankfully the bar was a lovely venue. Our meal was nice, but the presentation, creativity and flavours were no different to Indian food we've had elsewhere, and we're Indian so we've had a lot of Indian food. We were disappointed given the standing (and pricing) of the restaurant. When our bill arrived, it was about 30% higher as they had accidentally included someone else's drink bill. While the wait staff was apologetic, it left a disappointing taste in our mouth. I did tweet to them following the event, and am still waiting for a response.

This meal really was an experience and perfect for my wife and I who were celebrating an anniversary. The cocktails are done with a unique Indian flair. An extensive wine list is provided for any taste or budget. Service was very good and coordinated in a way that visits by several different waitstaff did not seem overbearing. The food was phenomenal and on the spicy side, which is a hallmark of Indian cuisine anyhow. I loved it, but for those not enjoying the heat, you might discuss with the waiter first. Overall it was a fun experience that I recommend to others.

My family loves Indian food so whenever they are in NYC, we try a different gourmet Indian restaurant. Although this restaurant didn't have the best food I've ever had (but still very good!), the fine dining experience more than made up for it! Attentive sommelier and waiters, an amuse bouche, an extra dessert, extra petit fours and chocolates at the end - everything was well done and made for a lovely indulgent evening. And I must say - the desserts were fantastic!

The restaurant has a new policy that children under 10 can no longer dine in the main dining room as they have another area where this is allowed. This was a surprise as we have eaten here numerous times when this policy was not in place. Beyond this surprise, the food was good as usual but we will have to find a new that can accommodate a child that is 8 years old.

Our 3rd visit to Junoon was to celebrate a special occasion for our family. The service was impeccable and almost all the dishes were delicious. Their choice of veg combinations are quite unique and we love it. The only one small hiccup was the raita was too salty and we mentioned it to the waiter. He nodded his head and walked away, thought that was a little off given if that were to happen in most other restaurant, there would be some action taken on it. We were surprised by that. In any case, I would not hold that one single instance against the overall service and food quality we experienced. We had cocktails and mocktails since we visited with our family (husband and 2 10+ kids). We will certainly come back, still love the place.

From the time you enter the restaurant, to the time you come out, you get lost into a complete different world. The ambience is incomparable, the best I have seen so far. The service is the best. Its one of the classiest restaurants in NYC. The food was delicious, though the quantity could have been a bit more. Owing to the classiness, its veryy expensive, but its worth the money. Should visit once for sure.

A beautiful white linen Indian restaurant fit for a romantic dinner or business destination. Wine service is among the best in the city and wait staff are highly trained, sophisticated. Some dishes attempt to be creative while others are more traditional. Most of the dishes were well executed, tho the more creative attempts were less consistently so (e.g. the chicken kebabs stuffed w/ground lamb were bland, needed some type of sauce, and were fairly meager as a $20 starter). Overall, a definite recommend.

Junoon means Passion in Urdu/Hindi, and having heard a great deal about the young Michelin star chef, Vikas Khanna, I expected nothing less. While we were not exactly disappointed with the Kolhapuri Lamb or the Kerala Shrimp Curry, the passion was lacking. Both dishes were adequate but did not exactly set our taste buds in a joyous dance. Same goes for the accompanying Naan and Rice. The hits were - Masala Chaai and the two desserts, a cardamom flavored rice pudding and spiced chocolate cheesecake. The service was well paced and attentive.

The food was ok but for the price certainly no better than many of the Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. The wait staff was friendly and attentive but tried to push the $95 tasting menu on us which one of our party (who had been there before) said was good but contained bite -sized portion. The waitress said it was the best way to experience the flavorings and their culinary ambitions. After having had the 3 appetizers and main dishes, I would have been annoyed having spent that much on the tasting menu. The bar area where we ate is very nice and comfortable; the dining room is a bit depressing. Not sure I'd go back.
