  • "Wow....we had great food and service. The menu is fantastic."

  • "Elegant without being stuffy, gracious but not intrusive service. Delicious food."

  • "A fine brunch. I'm especially fond of the pecan rolls. There is good variety, with great fresh fruit."

  • "I always enjoy going to Juniper. The food is fresh and the service is outstanding. The chairs are very comfortable and there is a lovely courtyard if you enjoy sitting outside. Order the honey bread - it is delicious!"

  • "Hostess ignored our request that she verify that we had a reservation."

  • "The waiter was the consumate proffessional and epitome of quality service and the menu is extensive and the food of the highest quality taste and presentation. My date enjoyed the desert."

  • "To be fair, the food is good but the place lacks ambience and character...like the Fairmont hotel itself. Service adequate for a hotel of this standard. At least try to get a table facing the beautiful courtyard. Our table faced scaffolding due to building's exterior renovations. Ho hum upscale hotel dining room with better than average fare and mediocre service. Overall a fair dining experience with no big surprises here.."

  • "I love this place it's bright, elegant and relaxing. The food and service are good and the Hostess "Maria" is wonderful!"

  • "Excellent meal and presentation . My only complaint is that my transaction was processed for $30 more than the amount authorized. The error was corrected after I called. The food, more sensation and service were excellent. Large entree portions so i recommend appetizer portions to save room for desert!"

  • "We were drawn by the attractive-looking outdoor seating, but scattered showers in the forecast meant we weren't given the option of dining outside. The interior is quiet and comfortable but somewhat lacking in personality. We started off with their signature bread--possibly the best part of the meal. Both appetizers (scallops, smoked duck breast) were also enjoyable. Husband had the paleo cobb salad, which was huge and which he enjoyed, but my ribeye was seriously overcharred (worst ribeye I think I've ever had) and the roasted beets/goat cheese side was good but not particularly exciting. Possibly a good choice if you have a lot of diners with special dietary needs, but the food was overall "OK" but not that innovative or memorable."

  • "Juniper's ambiance both indoor and out is gracious and calming, with courteous, attentive service by well-trained wait staff. The menu focuses on locally-grown fresh organic fare, expertly prepared and attractively served. The courtyard is my favorite space to eat in Washington--it's beautiful gardens and fountain offer a quiet respite from the hubbub of the city. Very refreshing!"

  • "What a beautiful setting in a luxurious hotel. A great find that flies under the radar. From the fresh local sourced food, to the ultra-romantic outdoor setting. This was a perfect selection for a special occasion."

  • "What a lovely experience! I made the reservation for lunch when I saw the brunch menu. Even though we went on a weekday, the menu was still delightful. The wait staff are attentive & knowledgeable. The food was pleasant to the eye and palette. I had the most scrumptious crab cake. When the waiter found out it was my birthday he had the chef add a little something to my dessert. I love their attention to detail and will come again. "

  • "Fine dining meets sustainable and healthy. The service is impeccable too."

  • "The service was poor and the food was mediocre at best. We will not be returning to Juniper for brunch again. "

  • "My friend and I tried a little bit of everything on the breakfast menu. The standout items were the open faced omelet and the applewood smoked salmon eggs benedict. Both items were made from fresh ingredients and were a perfect representation of balanced flavors and gorgeous presentation. Cannot wait to return for the full brunch experience. Food made up for lacking service."

  • "This has got to be one of the mosr overlooked restaurants/chiefs in DC. This kitchen consistently produces very good, very fresh, very innovative food. No, it is not "cool" and it is a hotel restaurant, although a very attractive one, but if you are more interested in terrific food cooked consistently well than a "scene," go here. The courtyard is a hidden gem."

  • "We wanted a good restaurant in west end that had abo e average food but quiet enough for old friends to catch up. juniper met both of these expectations. The food really was outstanding with good sized portion. The Berbere spiced lamb on the DIY menu was wonderful. A very clever menu, identifying dishes in numerous health categories (e.g. Vegan, diabetic); these health offerings were so tempting we selected from those menus as well as the regular one. Only compliant was the inattentive service; it took forever to put in a wine order and to get the wine, then the white we got was the wrong one. "

  • "I thought that I was going to the Juniper for Brunch, but it was still breakfast time. Buffet was varied and plentiful. No surprises. Server was very attentive. I think that the other meals show off their culinary skills moreso than breakfast."

  • "Ambience was too delicately decorated for a business meal but too open for romance. Seemed to have a personality issue. Food was fine but nothing really stood out. Server was disinterested. There were only five tables occupied when we arrived."

  • "I visited Juniper with a my family and a visiting dignitary. The food was wonderful and and ambiance remarkable. We had a wonderful time."

  • "This restaurant is absolutely beautiful! The indoor and outdoor seating are perfect for any meal!"

  • "I hesitate to report on how nice this restaurant was, since it's most remarkable quality was how quiet it was, and I'd hate to see noisy crowds in it. It was a pleasure to be able to speak at a normal level. The food was fine, the service was fine. But, say, why does my nickname have to include a number? It's not a password. That doesn't make any sense at all."

  • "The chef certainly has some different ideas. Thus is one of the best menus also has vegan, raw, diabetic choices. I had the lamb, my husband the rockfish. Both fantastic. The soup was outstanding and dessert yummy. Good wine list. Love the fact that the chef came to each table. Nice view to the courtyard but too cool to eat out there. Worth trying this very comfortable restaurant in the Fairmont .the bread is to die for!"

  • "While the food is good, the view from the sun room was amazing. The other notable thing was the bread. You MUST order the bread! I would go back for a quiet early dinner with my honey."

  • "Awesome! Wonderful food and wonderful service. A great evening."

  • "This is a hotel restaurant (which we didn't realize when I made the reservation). The only way that was obvious was the decor - the finishes just weren't very high end. It was kind of what you would expect a hotel restaurant to look like. That being said, the food and service were both top notch. The cocktails were very well crafted, the wine list is small but had some good choices (most skewed high on the price range). Presentation on the plate was beautiful, and the flavors were excellent. Would definitely recommend to a friend"

  • "Reliable, dignified, fine for a business lunch. It won't thrill you but it will not disappoint. Fat crab cakes!"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Good place to get locally sourced food for a business brunch. Quiet seating meant you were comfortable talking and didn't have to shout. Service was what you'd expect in any hotel buffet lobby restaurant but the food was not. Far more refined. The egg-white omelet with goat cheese, roasted peppers and quinoa was a healthy indulgence. Only wish I had tried some of the loose leaf teas."

  • "Varied menu incl traditional American and a selection that caters to vegans, macros and those w food allergies."

  • "Overpriced for what you get. And not at all noteworthy."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "This is not your usual hotel fare. The food is exceptional. Very fresh and local sources used. Many different food needs are accommodated(even Paleo!) but the regular food is well prepared and we ordered salads from the unique side of the menu that caters to gluten free, heart healthy, vegan etc. We heaved been there twice and both times were excellent."

  • "The food was wonderful; the view of the street was disappointing. The food was wonderful; the price of parking was shocking. The food was wonderful; the place was empty. The food was wonderful and everyone was very polite. If you need a quiet place where you and your spouse can catch up, you love food, and your budget is $150 for 2 (including parking) then this is your place. An A-list celebrity would be very happy here. No one would bother you. We did have to wait a while for menus and then again for the check, but with the buffet we didn't have to wait for food which is the most important aspect of brunch. 4 stars because the food was so good."

  • "Great open buffet, plus opportunity to order an entree. The hazelnut muffins... I die! Also, bottomless mimosas with orange juice or mango - delish!"

  • "Local vegetables were all excellent and the bread loaf was terrific. Both steaks were requested medium/medium rare and one was done just right and the other was well done for some reason so it needed to be replaced. Once that was done, and fortunately it only took it few minutes since I was waiting before eatting, all was back on track. Recommend it for special occassions. We ate a little early because of a 9 pm show afterwards at the Kennedy Center."

  • "We use to come at Juniper, especially during spring and summer enjoying the outdoor dining area. Last visit, Valentines night, was a disappointment. Honey bread, signature appetizer, never came. Food was not the usual standard, crab cakes heavily salted. Dessert, creme bruleé, dressed with slices of grape fruit, was a complete mistake on this sweet dessert. We live in the neighborhood and hope the night was a one of in our fairly long row of good experinces."

  • "Awful experience! Food quality was very poor! Many items bordered on spoiled! We ordered breakfast from menu – because a review of the buffet showed that all food was old, dry and stale – very distinctly NOT FRESH! One member of my party ordered scrambled eggs with a side of Virginia ham and it smelled as if it were going bad. Service was slow and non-responsive. Although it was practically empty, the service was poor, and the server made a significant error on my bill. Will not go back here again!"

  • "I only even found Juniper because of Open Table, and I'm glad I did. Traveling to DC a lot for work, I'm always looking for a new great option to try, and this was it. Not only was the food terrific, but the restaurant struck an unusual balance between formal and relaxed. Terrific, if a little short, wine list, walnut honey bread and lots of focus on local ingredients. Being able to craft your own "DIY" entree, and choose small plates and sides, makes the menu surprisingly versatile, too. My party of three liked it so much that we've decided to bring our larger group back in a few weeks!"

  • "Creative local-sourced gourmet food. Service was amazing and attentive without being intrusive. Quiet atmosphere. Brilliant food. We had a four-month old baby, and every person was really sweet and helpful and understanding, from the maitre'd to the servers to the valet at the end. My parents were with us, and they were blown away. They want to go back every visit! And the wine list was also amazing. The best all-around dining experience we've had in DC, and we live here and go to some fantastic places (Nora, Lincoln, Rasika, etc.)."

  • "This is my new preference for a business lunch. The service is excellent. The food id good, fresh with multiple choices for those with special requirements (vegan, diabetes, etc). I find the atmosphere light and uplifting. You are able to hold a business discussion without interruption. I give the restaurant high marks."
