JUNGSIKModern Fine Dinng in TriBeCaWe recently had a wonderful evening at Jungsik. The fusion menu that has its inspiration (and it's chef) in Korea was wonderful. We chose to order off the a la carte menu. The uni and crispy quinoa dish was outstanding as were all the dishes. The dining room is very modern and sophisticated. The service and attention to detail enhanced our evening.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular food and service! This is easily one of the best New York City restaurants that I have ever been to. The food was beyond wonderful and the service was "spot on" without being pretentious! I would go back there in a heartbeat!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique with brilliant preparationLive in Tribeca and took my wife for her birthday. What a great surprise. Staff was kind and warm and service was superb. Great presentation and all foods fresh, nicely presented with fantastic tastes. Strongly recommend.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! What a delight. The food was wonderful and subtle, with layers of flavor. Very romantic, quiet, clean, friendly and attentive staff.
We will definitely return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic unexpected dinnerWe were a bit skeptical about dining here as this restaurant was quite a bit out of our way, but were well rewarded with wonderful experience and superb service. The octopus was delicious and superior to most lobster I have had and I enjoyed the pork jowl as well. I ordered off the menu and my husband had the prix fare which he enjoyed as well.hedid not care for his cod - thought it was too strong and they rapidly offered to change this item for another. I look forward to returning .5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolute outstanding
TotallyAbsolute outstanding
Totally new Korean food. Not traditional but amazing and very fancy5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FrenchLives upto Chanterlle space. Excellent food and service.
Highly recommend for innovative foodies.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMInnovative dishesMy guest and I went here for our anniversary. Other than just printing out a special menu for us, they put together a wonderful 5 course vegetarian menu for my wife. The dishes were amazingly well crafted, with nice bold flavors to accentuate the Korean parts of the menu. From the amuse bouche onwards every dish was brilliant. And the wine pairings or should I say liquor pairings were even more inventive. We even had pairings of Sake and Beer for certain dishes. I could go through dish by dish, but just go. Its one of the best places in the city.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! We have been to a LOT of really wonderful and fine restaurants. We chose Jungsik as part of our amazingl marathon of graduation celebrations for ourson and the participating large family. They made us feel like GOLD. They went OUT OF THE WAY to do things right and make the group feel special. The food was incredible and even though it is eclectic, it was truly delicious and beautifully served. The service was out of this world. They do things right!
This is a wonderful find!
Bravo, Jungsik!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEager to go back to JungsikCan't believe it took us two years to get to Jungsik. The food was unique, delicious and beautifully presented. Service as good as it gets and the dining room comfortable and serene.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite New York restaurantThe food is fantastic, the service perfect. Every time I eat here I am amazed by the skills and intelligence of Jungsik, the chef. The staff is very professional and friendly.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutandingThis restaurant was recommended to me by a friend for my anniversary dinner. I made a reservation through open table and in the comments section let the restaurant know it was an anniversary dinner. Opun our arrival, they printed a special Happy Anniversary menu for us to keep and complimentary champagne.
The food was exquisite, outstanding, phenomenal, etc. I frequently eat korean food and Jungsik's take on modern Korean Cuisine was excellent. There were authentic Korean flavors and foods used with a modern and new twist. I highly recommend Jungsik.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiencesJungsik is a hidden gem, housed in the old Chanterelle space in Tribeca; it bears no resemblance to Chanterelle physically, but the quality of food, service and ambience is just as world-class as its predecessor. I would describe Jungsik as Korean-meets-Per Se...inventive dishes, gorgeous presentation, quietly attentive staff, and a large number of amuse bouches that were unexpected and delicious, each and every one.
Definitely a great place for an expense account occasion...Jungsik is expensive but worth every dollar!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA culinary journey! What an incredible dinner! We had the tasting menu, and were pleasantly surprised with the flavours of each dish. Service was outstanding, and the ambiance was great. The wine list is extensive, with many wines sourced directly from vineyards from all over the world.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant will be great. This restaurant will be great. The food is beautiful, as is the ambiance. You'd be hard pressed to find a team that works harder. I was served many extras, as were many others. I loved a few - the parade of amuses, the crispy oysters and the octopus. All adapted seamlessly bold Korean flavors to a fine dining environment that makes the concept of this restaurant so gripping. The less satisfying aspects of my meal stemmed un-seasonal ingredients (tomatoes, plums, etc during late winter) and occasional poor judgment (excessive truffle oil in one dish, repeating those tomatoes!). Seasonality's import cannot be only a cultural thing: it matters in taste. Jungsik will marry its food to the seasons soon. When it does, it will be truly great.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Tasting MenuOne of the best tasting menu experiences of the year!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect in every aspect---uniquePerfect in every aspect---unique and delicious. Every course of the tasting menu was an adventure ( portions were appropriately small and well spaced) and the wine match was exciting and inventive. Service was impeccable and ambience a dream. My best all-around dinner in NY City in years. Only slight negative--VERY pricy; including tax and tip $675 for 2.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Food.Absolutely amazing food -beautifully prepared.
A must.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMMost Sophisticated & Elegant!Thank you for making us feel comfortable & welcomed to your exquisite restaurant. The food was so precisely prepared & so beautifully presented. Having grown up in an Italian family, I was not sure whether I would care for Korean cuisine. It was delicious! It was the best Octopus & Oysters that I have ever had. Even my son, who does not eat any kind of fish, loved the Octopus. We had the tasting menu which was comprised of a variety of dishes, one was better than the other. I would highly recommend the tasting menu as the way to dine at Jungsik for your first experience. I can't wait to go back with the rest of our family & friends & try more dishes. Compliments to all the Chefs who worked so hard to make the evening a memorable experience!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely spectacular food,Absolutely spectacular food, hands down a square mile better than Le Bernardin. The dishes were inventive, beautifully presented, the service impeccable - attentive but unobtrusive and professional but friendly. I really couldn't fault a single thing about the whole meal except that I didn't like their blend of coffee!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, ambiance.Excellent food, ambiance. Our group truly enjoyed the dining experience.
If you go, hopefully you'll be so lucky as to have Hak Soo as your server. He really went above and beyond to make the dining experience even more memorable.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThey have a very nice tastingThey have a very nice tasting menus with some exquisitely decorated dishes.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJust as good as his restaurantJust as good as his restaurant in Seoul. Great food, service and great wine choices!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDivine experience, beyond expectatiI rarely write reviews unless compelled to do so - good or bad. Jungshik was an absolutely divine experience. A day before, I got a courtesy call to confirm reservation & was asked if it was for any special occasion. I booked it for my husband's birthday & they asked for his name. I thought they may give him a special call out. But the way they delicately serviced us (incl. a special menu with his name on, a special seaweed dish for a traditional Korean birthday & happy birthday-written dessert) was an absolute A+. The staff was extremely professional & friendly, the food was beyond description - extremely creative but deliciously so. We had 10-course tasting menu but I have to say it was definitely more than 10 - more likely 20!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, dessert wasExcellent food, dessert was good but for us not on the same level as earlier courses.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place with wonderfulGreat place with wonderful food. Others have complained that you can probably get larger portions of more authentic Korean food for less - but we thought the food was just divine - a nice upscale interpretation of Korean food with sensible portions. The rice dish with crispy pork belly was wonderful, so was the arugula and tomato sorbet - kind of a cold salad dish. Wow.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDue to horrendous traffic,Due to horrendous traffic, we were over an hour late for our reservation. The Maitre'd could not have been nicer and we were made feel welcome and therefore relaxed in minutes.
This is wonderful fine dining and the food should be enjoyed at leisure. The tasting menu looked appealing but we were too jet lagged to attempt 10 courses!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting take on traditionalInteresting take on traditional Korean ingredients and flavors, I was especially delighted by how the Chef changed the Green Tea Cremeux. We asked if we could get two different tasting menus (they usually have only one) prior to our reservation- they were extremely accommodating and the Chef whipped up another menu so that we could try as many of his dishes as possible during our dinner.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and very accomodatinExcellent food and very accomodating professional service.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was so unique andThe food was so unique and beautifully presented. The presentation and service were wonderful and the evening was one to remember.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove at First BiteWe absolutely loved the tasting menu. It was innovative, delicious, and gorgeous. It exceeded our high expectations.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic as wellFood was fantastic as well presentation. Benjamin was a faboulous server. Restaurant is expensive and not for children, but well worth it.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat 30th birthday dinner for herFantastic birthday dinner. Love that all the dishes come in half or full portions for tasting. Had the best octopus ever as a starter, as well as fresh sea urchin on seaweed and fried quinoa on top. For the main, I had lobster in butter with raspberry coulis, and as a person who never orders lobster, it was worth it! My wife had veal cheek, and I wish I could've tried it but she loved it. It lives up to the reviews. The service is attentive nice and knowledgeable. A great meal.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a late dinner at JUNGSIK.We had a late dinner at JUNGSIK. As always, food quality, presentation, preparation and creativity were top notch. Very fresh, an intelligent combination of Korean and Western traditions. This is not fusion, it is something new and innovative. Portions are small, which allows to taste a greater variety of dishes.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and intelligent. However due to late hour, staff was not very focussed and we had to wait long for seeing the menu and giving orders.
We would recommend Junsik warmly to foodies who are interested in crative delicious food with a Korean twist.1/10/2013 12:00:00 AMJung Sik is offering a uniqueJung Sik is offering a unique kind of food, Korean inspired but prepared according to what I would call highest international standards of best culinary practice. Dishes are creative, nicely arranged, very tasty and always based on fresh produce. The clean taste in combination with the freshness of the produce is hard to beat. Service is very knowledgeable, atmosphere maybe a bit formal, but the overall impression of this experience is outstanding! I can only advise: try it, you will certainly come back.12/11/2012 12:00:00 AM
