Certainly worth a visit. It is now a place where we feel comfortable taking out of towners. Ease of conversation with four close friends over fine cuisine is refreshing. The service is friendly, competent and not the slightest overreaching. My steak was done to perfection, Other choices were
prepared and presented beautifully and all were happy about choices. I do like to hear the conversation of my dinner partners. And I also appreciate the historic Julia Morgan architecture of Berkeley. Add that to quite decent food, some of it interestingly modern; friendly staff (their serving timing needs to
be improved;) and the lush gardens and interesting patios and art deco decor in every corner, and you find yourself in a delightful spot for lunch. I have not tried the dinner menu or scene, but I suspect it is still an oasis of calm compared to a "vibrant" (read: you can't hear yourself think) scene. We were all blown away with the quality of the food. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared. Service was professional and attentive. The dining room is beautiful. Berkeley campus, this is a lovely restaurant and ideally located for anyone attending events on campus or downtown. Kept in its old fashion character, the restaurant serves excellent food, with a great affordable wine list. From the braised rib with house made gnocchi (for those who like meat) to the succulent perfectly cooked risotto (for vegetarians) everything was perfect. And the salads are especially good, perfectly seasoned. We were served by courteous, amicable and knowledgeable people. It was a very enjoyable dinner.
Don't be fooled by the bar happy hour tapas which need some improvement. The restaurant is top notch.

Julia's reflects the luxury and ambiance of 1930's. The food and service is impeccable. The desserts are out of this world in presentation and taste.
I have brought girlfriends to lunch who are grieving a loss parent , one who is leaving her marital nest and another who entered into retirement. Great sorrow or great joy should bring intense hunger - not abstinence from food, as our novelists would have it.

We got there early and they were very accomadating and allowed us to sit early. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. The food was fabulous! We started with the grilled sardines and scallops for appetizers. The main dishes of beef tenderloin and lemon ricotta cheese raviolis were outstanding. We finished we Lavender ice cream which was a perfect end to the eveningWe went back to meet the chef, Chef Aloun, who was very friendly and gracious. I have already recommended Julia's to my family and friends and can"t wait to get back to see what other creative and delicious items will be on the menu.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI finally found a great restaurantI finally found a great restaurant at Julia's where I don't have to compromise between good food, wine, and atmosphere. The food is worthy of Berkeley, the wines are a quality mix of Californian and European (from Kermit Lynch, you can't go wrong), and the location is not like anything else in the Bay Area. If you are an architecture fan then you must go to the restaurant named after Julia Morgan, located in one of her charming buildings.
