  • Worst 30th Birthday Party Ever
    BirthdayFail
    Dined on 11/15/2014
I arranged a 30th birthday dinner with my group of 12, all of which were staying at the hotel. I think automatically because we were such a large group, the service was lacking because the gratuity would already be included. First, I witnessed my server grab the menu out of my friend's hand as she was still pointing at the menu reading out her order. Then, when our food came out, they didn't know who ordered what! They would call out the dish and then put it down where it went. They also kept trying to give us the chicken skewer, which none of us ordered and then still charged us for it! Then, my boyfriend's dish was called out, and the server attempted to place his dish in front of him from across the table in between 2 other people. After waiting about an hour, my other friend never got his paella, which we were aware took "40 minutes" for it to cook. By the time he got it, the whole party had already been finished eating, since it had been over an hour already before it finally got to the table. Then, we had to ask where the birthday dessert was, and our server assumed because we had asked for the check, we didn't want it anymore. We got the check and noticed they charged us for the chicken skewer, so they had to readjust it. Then, the totally was $655, so we gave $460 in cash and the rest on a card, which they charged $205. Sorry, but $655-460=$195. We sent it back and had them fix it, and then their excuse was that they charged us the $10 for the birthday dessert, which they said should have been complimentary, but then that would have meant that they charged us a mystery $10 that wasn't even on the receipt because no matter what, $655 (whether or not the dessert was on the receipt) will always equal $195. All in all, I would never eat there again and never recommend this place to anyone. It was the most awful dining experience I've ever had, and with a party I flew out from New York no less, so it was also embarrassing on my part.

Food was good-some little innovation on typical tapas restaurants. The portions were smaller than a typical Spanish tapas restaurant-each plate we ordered had two to four pieces of the item ordered. Nothing memorable that would compel me to return to this restaurant. Sangria (at $50 per pitcher) was nothing out of the ordinary....save your money and try another place.

As I've been to Spain before to study abroad, specifically in Madrid, I was happy to find a restaurant that brought the culinary experience from Madrid to the US. It was fun introducing croquetas and paella to people who have never tried them before.

Had dinner at Julian Serrano 3 times over the last 5 years (last time being this weekend) and usually the food is pretty good, but this time around I was disapointed. Of the 6 tappas we ordered, I can only recommend the mushroom risotto...The steak was extremely fatty (more fat than actual meat) and the calimary a la plancha was not eadible. Perhaps changing it to grilled calimari would be better.

The food was wonderful. Authentic Spanish. Our server was great. He was very rushed at first but really engaged with us later in the evening. Two of our party of six were very late arriving. We decided to have a bit of food while we waiting and I think there was a misunderstanding as suddenly we were brought 6 dishes one after the other without warning. We didn't order any of them except the first one. The waiter had offered to just bring us what he thought we would like and we said it sounded interesting but had no intention of eating before the other two arrived. Also I told him I was gluten intolerant and all the food that showed up involved bread of some kind. Once the other two arrived, things settled down and the evening was getting late and we enjoyed ourselves and even had some absinthe - no idea what happened after that!

Good food but HORRIBLE service!! I was able to deal with the haughty hostess, but not the waiter. He treated us like leppers once he saw we weren't going to be spending $100+ (our bill was still over $75). He blew us off once he saw we were *only* ordering 2 entrees each ($17 each) and a salad, instead of his recommended 4, and no wine. He then stood in the back of the room talking to other servers, and refused to make eye contact with us. We ended up paying cash and just leaving since he wouldn't come to our table to collect our payment. He managed to ruin what would have otherwise been a very nice meal.

My girlfriend and I were greeted with the server asking if we have ever had tapas. We both replied yes. After asking for recommendations and receiving no help we placed our order. Our first dish was a roasted stuffed pepper. The food was decent, but the dish left our plates totaled. We were given one plate at the beginning of the meal. I put my plate to the side of the table to politely request another. The server slid it back over to me. Um, ok? At this point in time I finished my drink and was tying to get another. The waiter could be found wondering everywhete except the tables. 4 courses in and still no plates. The night ended with myself receiving the bill with no pen to sign. I couldn't find the waiter for 10 minutes...

I've had stunningly good meals at Julian Serrano, but this visit to the restaurant in the fall of 2014 was a great disappointment. Although the service was great (thanks, Tony!), the food fell from such a dizzy height that it was notable. Chalk it up to an "off-night", maybe? But I'm not sure I'd go back.

I was in Vegas for a trade show with my biggest and most important customer and needed to book dinner with them. I went to JS last year on a whim as people were buzzing about it in the hotel lobby and was so impressed that I was confident it was the perfect place to bring my customer back to for the most important dinner of the work year. We handed the keys so to speak to the waiter and let him drive us through the menu with his choices for the evening. Ox tail, Lobster Gazpatcho soup, Padron peppers, Stuffed Piquillo Peppers, Tuna Cones, and the mixed Paella were just some of the dishes we went through in our group. Everything was perfect and JS played a big part in securing my $5 million dollar customers business for years to come.

This was our worst meal in Vegas. The service was rushed and not very friendly. All of our dishes came out at the same time. Starter, salad and two hot dishes. Unacceptable. It was so loud, we could not have a conversation. I felt like I was eating at a mall food court. It is ashame it was such a lousy dining experience, because the food itself was good. I will not return.

We had an awful experience - they brought the wrong food, then it took forever to bring the corrected food. From the time we were seated, we did not get our correct food for over 75 minutes - at lunchtime. Although they apologized half-heartedly, they did nothing to make things right with us. I will never go back.

This is a great tapas restaurant with tons of meant, seafood and veggie options. We had a hard time deciding! The stuffed dates are great and we enjoyed the cheese plate and olives as starters. We had a wonderful, spices whitefish ceviche, the beef tenderloin, shrimp and short ribs - all excellent! It is pricey, but that's Vegas!

We returned to Julian Serrano's and too some friends who had never been there. One was worried after seeing mixed reviews online. The first round of tapas put the fears to rest. Some people worry that they won't get enough food with only tapas. Fear not. We each ordered one plate and shared ( the staff asked to have the portion size set for four instead of the usual three). Each dish was delicious. In total we had two plates each and everyone was full. The service was grand. This restaurant is not cheap, but is good value for the food and experience. It is a wonderful place to try something new and the variety of the menu is amazing. I always ask to be seated in a quiet area as it can be a bit noisy. Can't wait to go back.

I have been to Julian Serrano's at Aria about 3 times now. I try to go every time I am in Vegas. My one beef this last visit was the rush that the wait and bus staff made to get plates, glasses, etc. off the table. The "waiter" took my sangria glass before I was done and when I told him so, he started to claim it was empty. It was not. However, he brought it back which satisfied me. Then another person brought me a half full glass and that was really a terrific demonstration of top notch service.

Had lunch here when we were in Las Vegas. We enjoy this place a lot so we try to make it a point to go there when we are in town. The food is usually very good but this time the kale salad was a little under seasoned, it only tasted like you were eating raw kale. Tried the Lobster pasta, wow fantastic along with the mussels. We had a really friendly and informative server, John Eric, who made dining here a real pleasure. The other staff members were attentive and friendly also.

This restaurant is in the lobby of the Aria hotel, so it is quite loud. The location and ambiance may not be great, but the food is delicious. We started with pan tomate with manchengo cheese and the serrano ham platter. They were both wonderful and we finished every bite. I had the lobster tail fideua. The lobster was cooking perfectly, the pasta tasted fresh, and the sauce was light and not too rich. The wine list is not very long, but they have some good Spanish choices. This is a great choice if you're hungry, but maybe not for a large entree portion. I will definitely come here again!

I entertained a senior group of executives who were all seasoned world travelers and serious foodies who cannot be baffled or bothered with poor restaurant choices. Once I scanned the menu, I felt safe enough to make a reservation. The young, hip service staff took it over the top! Our server, Eddie, made sure drinks never ran dry, and had definitive but not pushy suggestions for dishes we might have missed. The albondigas were crowd-pleasers, and for the two vegetarians, the Spanish Tortilla was amazing in both simple, elegant presentation as well as taste. I have tried tapas bars all over the globe, and short of ordering in Madrid, Julian Serrano ranks with other great global hotspots.
