My boyfriend and I went there for lunch on Thursday, which they have a great deal of business lunch. The quality matched the price, and the service was very friendly and sweet. Only one thing that take out the point is the time to wait for the food. I think it will be great if they could offer some bread before the food comes. Anyway, it was a good experience.

This was an amazing find. This place is a getaway right within the city limits. The restaurant itself is a beautiful establishment. It was a quiet night a few couples out on the porch but only us in the dining room. We tried the pear salad, lentil soup and the chicken dish. The pear salad was served with a brie fondue on the side to give you a hint of creamy brie. The soup was hearty and had an interesting flavor. The chicken dish was very good. The chicken was juicy. It was served with scalloped sweet potatoes and creamed spinach. The potatoes were delicious, and unique. The creamed spinach had a better flavor than the usual creamed spinach that is served at other restaurants. The pacing of the meal was a bit slow for my taste.

We had a wonderful time on my birthday. The dining area is very elegant and small in an intimate way, but without the sense that you must dress up to the nines; unless you wish to like I did. The food was exquisite. I highly recommend. Not a place for children which thankfully there were none.

The menu was very limited. There was no one there but 2 tables of Ladies. Service good, food pretty good. Took awhile to get our food even though we were one of two tables there. Maybe its a lively place at night. Kind of boring for lunch.

All four of us were completely wowed with our meal when we visited Judges' Hill. We have been there as a group of four on several occasions and have seen this restaurant move through some personality and menu changes. This was probably our best experience yet and we were sorry to hear that they are getting ready for renovations and a big menu change. We each had the field greens with the cinnamon dressing--I though it was probably one of the best salads I've ever had. One diner had the lamb meatball pasta carbonara and enjoyed it very much. I had the squab which was terrific and the accompanying gnocchi were better than some I had in Rome. Two diners had the swordfish and both thought it excellent. Deserts were great too!

The food was excellent! We tried the cheese tray based on a review and they were right - it is wonderful. I had the swordfish and my husband had the lamb, they were both delicious. We had the chocolate cube for dessert and were very pleased. We had a lovely time chatting with our waiter who used to live on the same street we did years ago!

Mixed bag really. Menu looked good but I think we ordered the wrong things. Squab was tough and dry. Curry risotto was a miss. The big room ambiance was what your expect from a big, over lit room with 20 or so 4 tops in it. I would qualify my Yes recommendation.

Excellent food, perfectly prepared. Being in an historic remodel mansion gives the restaurant an interesting character that is fairly unique in Austin. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking in the garage and the walk from parking to the entrance through what felt like a back-of-house, service area was out of place compared to the elegance of the mansion itself.

Consistent quality, excellent service, and a quiet atmosphere. The small dining room only accommodates about 25 customers, so you never have to worry about it being too loud to have a quiet conversation. Be sure to order the cheese plate appetizer that is stocked with local cheeses. One of my favorite spots.

We loved the setting. The old house was just gorgeous. However, when we first arrived, it was so quiet, we didn't talk much as to not disturb the other patrons. We hoped to see a few more choices for appetizers and were disappointed at the selection. Our meals, though good, both had a sweet element on the plate that was just too overpowering. Hubs had the sea bass and told me afterward, he felt like he'd eaten dessert. For dessert, I ordered ice cream and hubs ordered sorbet, both made in house. Both were AMAZING!!! The dessert was the best part of the meal. Overall, we felt that although the service was very good, and the atmosphere nice, the food was just okay and a bit pricey for just "okay".

Great restaurant for people who know food. The menu includes great eclectic items one would expect from a local restaurant. There are not pages upon pages of pre-made, frozen items found in a chain restaurant but what they do offer is outstanding. The crab raviolo was obliviously handmade in-house. Ignore the reviews which complain about how food that takes an hour or more to prepare is not able to be changed. I have eaten in great restaurants across the country from New York to Las Vegas to Savannah back to Washington, DC., and this one stacks up well.

Restaurant was very clean and inviting. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Several of the menu items were not available without garlic. This led me to believe that menu items were premade (such as the risotto). The smoked mash potatoes were delicious but when we asked about them we were informed that the smoky flavor was liquid smoke. That seemed odd. If given a choice I think I would prefer potatoes without any smoky flavor. The dining room could've been dressed up for the holiday season. Overall the experience was good but lacked the passion of similar restaurants.

The restaurant is pretty, and the food is good, but it certainly isn't spectacular. The oil they served with the bread and on the carpaccio seemed to be vegetable oil of some sort, or else a very poor grade of olive oil. The entrees were fine, but the desserts were all terrible.

Mansion at Judge's Hill is elegant but friendly. The wait staff is top notch attending to all our requests. The Caesar salad was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The menu didn't have enough "meat" entrees to choose from as he is unable to eat seafood. His steak was perfectly cooked. My salmon was a delight to behold - elegantly presented - and tasted wonderful. We shared the delicious creme brulee for dessert and it was very rich and tasty. Only downside was the parking lot which is not paved and full of ruts.

Limited but quality and interesting menu items available on the buffet. The hostess was fantastic - very friendly and accommodating. Our server was quite the opposite. She seemed to not want to be there despite trying to engage her in small talk to lighten her mood a bit. We had to ASK for everything we needed...water, refills on each and every mimosa. It was a painful exercise. She was quick to clear plates and then bring the bill without us requesting it however. We asked for additional refills at approximately 130p and she said they were closed even though the advertised brunch supposedly didn't end until 2pm. Probably will not return.

The three course Thanksgiving menu at Judge's Hill was nothing short of superb. Everything from Wild Mushroom En Croute to my sizable Pork Shank with apples, prosciutto wrapped green beans, and stuffing were an epicurean's dream. I topped of my feast with a toasty shot of espresso & chocolate mousse. My belly and tastebuds were singing the Chef's praises! The service was warm and welcoming, while the atmosphere maintained a romantic, and yet still homey feel throughout our meal. We were one of only two tables in the restaurant yet we were seated in the corner by the kitchen, half of us facing the wall all evening. We were presented with three different menus, no one had updated the daily and seasonal choices in two of them. The waiter apologized but never really seemed to recover from the confusion. The music was set very low so most of the evening we listened to the TV playing loudly in the bar. The appetizers were the highlight of the meal. Two of five of us were pleased with our meals, the other three felt them to be mediocre. This is not what I expected when paying close to $60 per person. My money would have been better spent elsewhere.

I only went here because I was staying at the attached hotel (Judges Mansion) and it looked like it could be good. Outstanding food (I was shocked, actually, was expecting something more ordinary because of the location). Interesting Texas twists to an upscale menu. The decor gave an old-world, college president/aristocrat feel which was fun. There are more menu items that I would love to try so I hope I will be back.

2 of the 4 of us had filets: they were ordered medium and medium rare but they were both very rare. Some of the dishes were unnecessarily complicated though nicely presented. Wait staff was very attentive. Drinks served in the front room had a nice ambience but there were really no little munchies available. We were the only diners at first and later was uncrowded so the noise level was quiet!! Guess the ACL revelers found other restaurants. This is our second time there with Groupons which really helped with the expense. We would be infrequent diners there event though we had a lovely evening.
