Since we were celebrating an occasion, the waiter surprised us with a free cheese cake. Very friendly staff, very informative on the specials and the special were excellent. Wine list was adequate, but with some great values, but you had to step between some outrageous overpriced wines. I had the NY strip, excellent, would want to try the rib eye next time, just to see if it s as good or better that the NY strip. They have a vibrant bar area where you can eat there also, but we picked the dining room so it was easier to converse. Over all with all the great steakhouse sin the DFW metroplex, this is really one you really need to try, I think you would be impressed. He loved it as did everyone else at the table. Food and service were outstanding. He queried as necessary to insure we were having an excellent dining experience. He was cordial and seemed genuinely interested in making it a special evening for me and my lovely wife.
The steaks were cooked to perfection and the flavor was delicious and most flavorful. The jumbo shrimp cocktail could almost be a meal in itself. Don't have the steak pizza appetizer if you plan on another entree. It was more than enough for a meal in and of itself and, like the steaks, tasted great. .
Thanks for the complimentary cheesecake dessert. However, the dinner this week was not nearly as good for the money that we spent. The food preparation was not as expected . Steaks were smaller than anticipated and the side dishes were less than desirable. Crab and Avacado salad was phenomenal. We got the date special which came with a filet and ribeye and both cuts were cooked perfectly and were amazing. We will most definitely be back. The food was EXCELLENT!! My wife had the cut-with-a-spoon filet tenderloin with a bushel size serving of asparagus and I had the melt-in-your-mouth Sea Bass with creamed spinach and artichoke hearts. Obsolutely delicious. Our service was great. We had a waiter-in-training supported by a trainer but any minor errors made were completely overlooked by the friendliness and attentiveness. Both waiters carried our to-go box and wine and ESCORTED us to the bar to finish our wine and enjoy the live music. Very nice touch. When replaying our entire staycation weekend we both agreed that JR's was the highlight. It was our first visit to this restaurant, and our whole experience was outstanding. The food was superb.
