The food was amazing ... I am a New Yorker and used I great food and always in search of it here in california. Very happy to have found tower 23 as the food was amazing... Had the skirt steak with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes.... Wow. Will definitely be returning for dinner. The desserts did not care for them -- tried two different ones.... Think they should have some basic desserts in menu and not try to be so eclectic on the dessert side -- it was the only part that we did not like but wouldn't stop us from returning -- we would just have dessert elsewhere.

Sat for ten minutes before going up and asking for a menu. Then waited again until I asked for a waiter. The waitress sort of meandered over and took our order. Service did not get ANY faster after that. It wasn't even busy when we arrived.

wonderful food, unusual side dishes, great steaks and seafood, watch the sun set, right in the middle of lots of people, yet not too intrusive.. The first time I was in and out fairly quickly...I was eating alone, and the waiter kept things moving. The second time was later and much more busy, yet the dinner was still paced well enough. This is where I like to go when I want to have a really nice dinner.

4 stars for the food, but 5 stars for the service. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and the staff was excellent. They were helpful but not annoying. The food is not extraordinary, but it is very good. Prices are reasonable. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a spot in PB that is a bit more "high end" then all the other spots.

Thoroughly enjoyed an evening at JRDN while we were staying on Pacific Beach. It has a very upscale current look. There were first plate options such as a delicious cheese place, the most unique, salty, addictive fried peppers. There was an option to design your own salad. That was a first for me and it was a wonderful as well as the kale salad with delicious strawberries. The swordfish was perfect. Others had the salmon and were very pleased and a beef dish which was cooked to perfection. We were to full for desserts but the choices were very tempting. On top of all this, you can dine outdoors, oceanside or indoors in a great atmosphere. I would definitely go back! Very, Very attentive wait staff, perfect service, what a pleasure!

lunch onJRDN's outside patio on a warm sunny day is not to be missed. The restaurant is by the bike path next to the ocean, with a view of Crystal Pier. The onlyhe downside is that you have to pick either sun or shade, because there are no patio umbrellas. The cocktails are tasty, although overpriced for the quantity. Service is friendly and (this time, not other times) prompt. The food is creative and tasty. We had the mussels in a tomato-chorizo sauce; delicious, but the actual mussels ranged from tiny to non-existent. The meat in the hamburger was of very good quality, which is all-important in a burger. Vaet parking is free, tip-only. JRDN is one of the few SD restaurants we actually go back to.

My two sons dined here for a special last night in San Diego. We sat on patio which was comfortable with heaters but tiny tiny light on our table that did not provide any light. We literally could not see what we were eating, but it did taste good. Items asked to be on side were not, and you could not tell until you blindly took your first bite. I'd go back for a very early dinner with daylight.

I keep coming here because I like the vibe here and the food. However the service is getting so poor that I'm about to give up. You have to ask several times for water or wine or bread etc and it takes a long time for the entrees to arrive. To the point you have to ask about them too! So--as fun as the place is the service is bad and takes some of the fun away--and it is a pricey evening. I'm beginning to think its not worth it. Sad.

JRDN is stylish and comfortable. It's a perfect place to take visitors or for special occasions, and it's also relaxed enough for any day of the week. At brunch or lunch you can enjoy the views of water and sky and people watching, and after a pretty sunset, dinner crowds can enjoy the fresh air and clever light-play that brightens the interior almost as much as the beautiful people congregating in the bar. Food is better than average at the beach and sometimes very good. Definitely try JRDN--it's one of the best destinations in San Diego.

Not enough shade on patio, but we don't care - many do. Blue ocean, blue skies, and funky CA lifestyle going by. Drinks overpriced...Beer local on tap $10 for a 20 oz. though, but still too much. Food: the Lobster BLT is not as good as I remembered and served on limpier bread, prefer crunchy baguette, but still quite tasty. The California Club delicious, less cream cheese, more avocado would suit my taste buds better, but that is subjective. Overall, the service was fine, but not very efficient...and the criticism here is more directed at the scheduler and manager not the staff who were assigned in an odd way with the tables. Finally, it is a restaurant with a bill of 60$ for two sandwiches and a drink and a view.

Beautiful view for a restaurant. Out of 4 top SC restaurants it did come in 4th for us. Food is very California style. Service was very good. Our waiter explained the menu well. They offer a create your own salad which was an excellent option. We also tried to other apps, Crab cake very good, green tomato dumpling unusual and pita bread and spreads which my wife and I loved. We had an excellent rib eye and chicken breast with pick your own sauce and seasoning. Halibut done perfectly. The sides were the downfall sauce on potatoes awful, Halibut came with a whole onion which I left. Desserts were a big bright spot. However, candle at table and heaters used an oil with an odor, that detracted from the meal. Overall falls short in a few spots

We go to JRDN regularly as we are local to the area. We love the food, view and have often commented on the great service. We went on a holiday weekend (Labor Day) and had a simply awful dining experience. We waited on EVERYTHING from the drinks to the appetizers to the main entree. When the manager came by HE was even rude! This is one of our favorite restaurants. Not sure we'll go back. I'm hoping this experience was an anomaly. They claim they had "new staff" that they were training. I guess they better go back to "training!"

We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, solstice, you name it at JRDN and have always been pleased with the quality of the food and the friendliness and professionalism of its servers. That and the incredible view out over the Pacific Ocean and Crystal Pier from our outdoor table. The salads, seafood and steaks are fresh, can be served plain or embellished, and the wine list offers selections we've never had before and would love to enjoy again. Its certainly our favorite spot in San Diego for a memorable dinner. If we were 30 years younger we'd plow into the bar scene with its million decibel level of happiness, not to mention stylish men and women. Luckily, we are a happy couple and our ocean front table is very quiet.

What a great restaurant attached to the ultra chic Tower23 Hotel in Pacific Beach. We stayed at the hotel for three nights, and we absolutely loved the whole experience. We started with the avocado toast and the grilled pita with three dips - awesome! For dinner, I had the the ribeye, which was fantastic, and my wife enjoyed the skirt sweat, which was outstanding. No room for dessert, but they sounded tasty. Fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. Great experience.

This is a first-class, special occasion place all the way. While I would like the menu and wine list to be a little more varied (just my personal taste), the service is great (although both times I have been there for dinner the kitchen forgot something but it was quickly remedied); the staff are very nice, friendly, and attentive; the cocktails are fantastic; and the food itself is delicious. Don't skip dessert either, you'll be glad you didn't. It's too noisy inside for me so we have eaten dinner outside both times and you can't go wrong with that because you're staring at the ocean and the sunset. For lunch and brunch though they do not have any umbrellas and half the tables are in the sun, just a note for all those sensitive to burning.

My husband and I love coming to JRDN for lunch. However, each and every time we come in we are greeted by a minimum of two young ladies who don't appear to have been trained or simply don't understand their jobs. It is the most dreaded part of the experience for us. The last time we were in the restaurant the hostess walked customers in circles around the restaurant looking for their table. Please train your hostesses and I will give you five stars. Also, no surprise, while I was dining I received an email that my reservation was cancelled. I got up from the table and spoke with the hostess who said she cancelled it by mistake and would reinstate it. That didn't happen until I submitted a complaint to Open Table. Get it together, please.
