Came here for my girlfriend's birthday, my request for a patio table was accommodated and we had a phenomenal sunset view. The steak was phenomenal and cooked perfectly (to my request of "super rare") and the sauces with the fish my girlfriend ordered were amazing. All in all a great experience

I was a little bit surprised at how casual it was, but that is not to say that the food wasn't outstanding and inventive. The appetizer plate of mixed seafood was superb! Watching the sunset was outstanding and the patio on the boardwalk seemed surprisingly private.

Not enough shade on patio, but we don't care - many do. Blue ocean, blue skies, and funky CA lifestyle going by. Drinks overpriced...Beer local on tap $10 for a 20 oz. though, but still too much. Food: the Lobster BLT is not as good as I remembered and served on limpier bread, prefer crunchy baguette, but still quite tasty. The California Club delicious, less cream cheese, more avocado would suit my taste buds better, but that is subjective. Overall, the service was fine, but not very efficient...and the criticism here is more directed at the scheduler and manager not the staff who were assigned in an odd way with the tables. Finally, it is a restaurant with a bill of 60$ for two sandwiches and a drink and a view.

Food, service, location, setting, all excellent. Free valet is a plus too! The only hard to find negative is that the bar is obnoxiously loud, and that noise can be somewhat heard on the outdoor patio. If you're looking for an impressive night out, here it is.

My daughter and I had reservations on our first night in Pacific Beach. It was crowded and loud at the bar because it was happy hour we asked to be seated away from the bar and we had a perfect table on the boardwalk with a view of the ocean. It was not loud at all. We ordered fish and salads and everything was very fresh and excellent we will return

Beautiful view for a restaurant. Out of 4 top SC restaurants it did come in 4th for us. Food is very California style. Service was very good. Our waiter explained the menu well. They offer a create your own salad which was an excellent option. We also tried to other apps, Crab cake very good, green tomato dumpling unusual and pita bread and spreads which my wife and I loved. We had an excellent rib eye and chicken breast with pick your own sauce and seasoning. Halibut done perfectly. The sides were the downfall sauce on potatoes awful, Halibut came with a whole onion which I left. Desserts were a big bright spot. However, candle at table and heaters used an oil with an odor, that detracted from the meal. Overall falls short in a few spots

We go to JRDN regularly as we are local to the area. We love the food, view and have often commented on the great service. We went on a holiday weekend (Labor Day) and had a simply awful dining experience. We waited on EVERYTHING from the drinks to the appetizers to the main entree. When the manager came by HE was even rude! This is one of our favorite restaurants. Not sure we'll go back. I'm hoping this experience was an anomaly. They claim they had "new staff" that they were training. I guess they better go back to "training!"

We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, solstice, you name it at JRDN and have always been pleased with the quality of the food and the friendliness and professionalism of its servers. That and the incredible view out over the Pacific Ocean and Crystal Pier from our outdoor table. The salads, seafood and steaks are fresh, can be served plain or embellished, and the wine list offers selections we've never had before and would love to enjoy again. Its certainly our favorite spot in San Diego for a memorable dinner. If we were 30 years younger we'd plow into the bar scene with its million decibel level of happiness, not to mention stylish men and women. Luckily, we are a happy couple and our ocean front table is very quiet.

What a great restaurant attached to the ultra chic Tower23 Hotel in Pacific Beach. We stayed at the hotel for three nights, and we absolutely loved the whole experience. We started with the avocado toast and the grilled pita with three dips - awesome! For dinner, I had the the ribeye, which was fantastic, and my wife enjoyed the skirt sweat, which was outstanding. No room for dessert, but they sounded tasty. Fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. Great experience.

This is a first-class, special occasion place all the way. While I would like the menu and wine list to be a little more varied (just my personal taste), the service is great (although both times I have been there for dinner the kitchen forgot something but it was quickly remedied); the staff are very nice, friendly, and attentive; the cocktails are fantastic; and the food itself is delicious. Don't skip dessert either, you'll be glad you didn't. It's too noisy inside for me so we have eaten dinner outside both times and you can't go wrong with that because you're staring at the ocean and the sunset. For lunch and brunch though they do not have any umbrellas and half the tables are in the sun, just a note for all those sensitive to burning.

My husband and I love coming to JRDN for lunch. However, each and every time we come in we are greeted by a minimum of two young ladies who don't appear to have been trained or simply don't understand their jobs. It is the most dreaded part of the experience for us. The last time we were in the restaurant the hostess walked customers in circles around the restaurant looking for their table. Please train your hostesses and I will give you five stars. Also, no surprise, while I was dining I received an email that my reservation was cancelled. I got up from the table and spoke with the hostess who said she cancelled it by mistake and would reinstate it. That didn't happen until I submitted a complaint to Open Table. Get it together, please.

Went there for brunch with my family. Our bloody Mary's (let's say you never would have known they had alcohol) Asked for toast, it came dry, no butter. We never had the same waiter. We counted up to 5 different people that worked out table. No one new what the other one was doing. The food was nicely seasoned and tasty, but the drinks were awful and service was less than desirable.

We loved the food here, my steak is perfectly cooked and my wife loved the swordfish. The only problem we had was parking which understandable since it is a Saturday night and there is a lot of people. One thing that I would suggest that the restaurant needs to work on is the service. Our server did not know the menu and too relaxed for a high end restaurant. I understand that it is by the beach and maybe that is why they are as professional. I asked our server about what is in one of the items and he tried to answer, but he was not sure. My wife also as for a recommendations for wine desert fairing and the server has no idea at all. I highly suggest educating the servers more about the menu and how to interact better with the customers. ty

The bar here was loud, but going into the neighboring dining patio and adjacent room was quiet. The service was great during our dining experience and so was the food. Excellent dishes - we had the flank steak, diver scallops, truffled avocado and mussels. Every single dish was amazing. Also a great place do dine outside and watch the sun set. While there is plenty of pedestrian traffic along the "boardwalk" right alongside the patio, it doesn't impose at all to the experience or view. We'll definitely be back.

What beautiful food. We go here for every important occasion. This time the service was slightly off. Waiter poured water, then left glasses across table instead of placing them near us. Next waiter walked off with wine list before we'd chosen. But they're a good group of people. I do love that plates are served to you using napkins so someone's grimy thumbs aren't all over your plate ; ) A lovely place.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner on Friday evening. Love the fact that two waiters cover the same area and share tables. This provided high quality attention. Had the skirt steak with Chimicuri sauce. I didn't realize until I got it they it was a mustard Chimicoiri. Was a much bigger fan of the original one you used to serve. Mojitos were good too. Not too sweet and not too much acidic.
