  • "Food was good, not great. While the restaurant has a kids menu, it's not really a kid friendly menu - there are 3 choices. If you think the cheese pizza is something your kids will eat - only if they are used to fresh mozzarella on flat bread, no sauce - not exactly what we were expecting. Needless to say, our kids are not used to that as pizza and refused to eat it. The tapas were delicious, but run on the small side. The service was good, but wouldn't rush back here. The prices were on par with restaurants that have a view in Kauai (this is upstairs in a shopping mall). Maybe a great date night spot for locals or couples coming to Kauai, but definitely not for families."

  • "As a huge fan of Chef Josselin's A Pacific Cafe from long ago, I was very excited to try his new tapas-style restaurant on my recent honeymoon. The restaurant was beautiful, service was very relaxed and fun, and the plates were all beautiful. That being said, I didn't think the food tasted quite as good as it looked (i.e. ceviche lacked acidity, other dishes lacked that wow factor) and hope it was just a fluke. I'd definitely return on my next visit and try it again."

  • "Just as he always has, Josselin makes wonderful, tasty and well-presented food! I took my family (including 11 year old twins) for dinner and the entire family loved it. You really have to try the slow-cooked butterfish and also the Kalua pork tacos! Our server, Tommie, was fantastic and extremely attentive. We were sorry that we were unable to eat there more often! Oh, and don't miss the sangria cart - I am not a big sangria fan, but this was AWESOME!"

The plates succeeded each other too quilckly and we felt really rushed. Not ideal for romantic dinners. The slow cooked butterfish was excellent, but the rest was less impressive."

  • "Have wanted to come here for a few years and glad we finally made it. Our waiter was great. He explained the various dishes, provided good recommendations and attentive. He knew I wanted the special blistered tomatoe and burrata cheese dish and made sure I got my order in before it was gone. It was excellent. Great flavors and presentation. Have had a similar dish at Mozza in LA, but this one was better. Tuna tempura was very fresh and some of the best. Butterfish also highly recommended. Will definitely come back."

  • "Food was good and nicely presented, but I'm used to tapas the Spanish way where you order a drink, snack a little, order a plate, drink a little more, talk and spend an evening enjoying the food and drink. Our waiter insisted that we needed to order 5 items so we ordered cold an hot entries. We had a sangria, and before the 2nd sip, all 5 items were slammed on the table. By the time we got to some items they had sat for awhile. If you want to dine in the tapas style, order one item at a time only!"

They have a serving cart of Sangria's, I ordered a Lychee Nut Pinot Grigio and it was very tasty and refreshing. I look forward to dining there again on our next visit."

Manuel's guitar strings magically tied the lineup of delicacies with a melodic repertoire of popular to classical pieces. My guests from Honolulu were totally impressed with the entire experience and equalled this to many of the finest restaurants they have dined at. I will continue to use Tapas as my choice to host and entertain my guests and visitors to our island and will surely use the Open Table reservation system..., again..., my first experience! "

  • "Many friends recommended this restaurant. Everyone said you must have reservations. We dined May 27 and this is during graduation and Memorial Day so all the resorts have low occupancy as well as restaurants. We enjoyed a very relaxing delicious meal in a beautiful and casual restaurant with flattering lighting. The waiter/sommelier knew the food and his wine. We loved his recommendations and will actually seek to find this wine again. We shared a pupu platter and got 4 great tastes. We also had the Ono and Mahi Mahi for mains. They change the menu daily and list the boats and farms where they purchase their food. Great spot, highly recommended."

  • "Since the point is to order and share several small plates, and we asked that they be brought out only two at a time, we ended up with several plates on the table all at once. Then they make several passes to remove plates even before you are done. They were not that busy and we came late so they couldn't have been trying to turn the table. Noise level is always very high here, but the food is the reason to come. Bottle of white wine was not chilled at all, too warm when brought to table. I'd happily give more stars if service improved."

Our vacation stay is almost over, sorry to say it will be a year at least before we can return. Make sue you ask your server for recommendations, the menu is extensive an direction from an expert really helps. Although I can't imagine a bad thing on the menu."

  • "This is a "tapas" restaurant, but a different type of tapas. Instead of being Spanish, the tapas were more of an Indonesian / Pan Asian style. The ahi poke we had was served in a mound on a "smoking" plate. Actually, it was a bowl containing lemon grass-infused water, some dry ice, and a perforated plate on which the poke was served. The effect was striking, to say the least, and the lemon grass imparted an interesting flavor. I'm not a big fan of cauliflower, but the cauliflower tapas we had was roasted (kinda like "blasted broccoli"), and made a convert out of me! An excellent restaurant, and suited for the more adventurous diner. Give it a try; I think you'll like it!"

  • "The first night we went without reservations,but we're able to order from and eat at the bar. Though there were more than six empty tables when we arrived and those tables remained the entire time of our visit, we were not able to be seated. One of us had to stand the entire meal. The bar service was excellent as were feta salad and cauliflower. The ravioli was nothing to write home about. The second time we went with four others. Butterfish and beef dishes were very good. Sangria was very good. We would go back for sure."

Told them to slow it down but didn't matter. Main entree brought together with other small plates . Pumpkin ravioli tasted like gnocchi. Dough was horrible. Duck tacos tasty. Pot roast too salty. Loud atmosphere and crying babies. Not a repeat"

  • "We found Josselin's a year ago while on Kauai. We spent three weeks there this March and had the opportunity to eat at Josselin's twice. Once with our grown family and grandchildren and then just the two of us our last night there. The food and presentation is so special. With the larger group of course we had many more items to sample! The noise level can be a problem but dining in one of their comfortable booths does not seem to be as loud as when at a table. We love to watch the chef and his assistants preparing the food. Such intensity and it shows! We highly recommend Josslin's to any who like a new eclectic dining experience."

  • "The cauliflower was too charred, the mushrooms too wet, the kale, not massaged enough; tough to chew through. Cabocha bisque was bland, steak was not med-well, more like well and dry. Best of all, the sangria. Delicious fresh fruity sangrias, strong!"
