Josselin's Tapas Bar and GrillMothers Day DinnerThis was only my second time to this restaurant and it was very exciting for me, I brought my Wife and daughter and told them to order whatever their hearts desire and the next thing I knew food was coming in a great pace and great taste, we are a local family here on Kauai and this restaurant made us feel right at home. the evening went off without a hitch as we also ordered dessert and coffee. We have eaten a good portion of the menu in the last two weeks. Jean Marie Joselein's has been a master chef in Hawaii for a long time. (He was the owner and master chef at A Pacific Cafe in Kapaa.) The menu now is so full of exciting choices that it can be difficult to to choose. We had our usual favorites, including the Deconstructed Ahi, the Roased Feta Salad, and the Braised Short Ribs, all of which continue to be delicious and outstanding. In addition, we tried the Stuffed Calzone and the Roasted Asparagus, both of which were unique and delectable in their flavor combinations. Go early and beat the crowds. Start out with one of the 3 choices from the Sangria Cart. Then dive into the small plates choices. Don’t miss the “Corn Brulee”. The manager, Andrew, was around all night checking on each table and making suggestions. Sara was our server and her knowledge of the menu was in-depth. She must be a foodie to be able to describe the preparation so completely. Living in Chicago, we have many restaurant choices and count Josselin's among our favorites anywhere. Stunning flavors. The sangria cart is fun - three different choices and you can also order the Love Potion - made with sparkling wine. The menu changes often. The corn brule is one of the most inventive dishes I've had. Poached pork dumplings - just outstanding. We've never been disappointed with anything on the menu. If it sounds good, rest assured, it will be. The manager, Andrew, is delightful - he always remembers us and thanks us for the business and often provides a dessert gratis. Seared perfectly. Tempura description made me think it would be heavier... the batter is barely visable... which was great. WOW. Like eating butter.

I can highly recommend the Rock Shrimp and the Butterfish. Service was very helpful and recommendations of the waiter were spot-on. Our only complaint was the noise level. It was fine after a boisterous party of 12 left. Why do people think that no one else is in the restaurant and shout to someone all the way down the long table? Please, people, the other patrons of the restaurant are trying to have a good time too, and don't want to hear your conversations. One year we went there twice in one week! Favorite dishes: deconstructed ahi roll, portabello and spinach "pucks," roasted feta cheese. They also make great varieties of fish.
