  • "Had a great birthday dinner here with the family for my daughter's 13th; right before a concert at the Beacon. Our table was waiting when we arrived, our waitress was friendly and personable, food was great (vegetarians and non-veggies had plenty of choices), dessert was amazing! Prices very good for the neighborhood! New favorite uptown restaurant!"

  • "I live in London and was on my third trip to New York when I visited Josie's for the second time. I went back because of its amazing menu which caters for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. In most cases as a vegetarian you get to choose from 1 or 2 options on the menu, at Josie's there are about 6 or 7 options. As well as the choice the food is really tasty and come with the guilt free knowledge that what you are eating is organic and really healthy. If i lived in NYC I'd be a Josie's regular."

  • "We ate here over 3 years ago and made sure we returned during this trip to New York City. The food is well prepared, wholesome and delicious. It is evident that this is still a favorite restaurant for many given how busy it was between 5 pm and 6 pm. We were not disappointed and we will be back when travels take us here again. /It was great to get a table at the window."

  • "We were very surprised that the food was so mediocre!restaurant was very busy and the food took forever to come"

  • "Good healthy organic and vegetarian options, paired with healthy meat choices. Butternut squash and ginger soup is a good starter, portions are considerable. Healthy juices fresh daily. Upscale diner casual, but lights are dimmed in evenings making this a great place to snack, drink, chat."

  • "After reviewing multiple restaurant menu's online, Josie's seemed to have an amazing selection (and it did). I had the best Salmon I've ever eaten and loved the fact everything was organic and the waiter also mentioned they didn't use butter and minimal oil. However, there wasn't a lot of space between tables or much room to move to have a private conversation and the servers made us feel extremely rushed. I had to tell one man multiple times not to remove my plate because I was not finished eating. Although I usually love efficiency, this was a special occasion and didn't want the water boy in my face every 2 minutes or my plates constantly picked up when there was still food."

  • "I love Josie's...it's my regular place to eat. Food is always excellent, but this time the service wasn't great."

  • "Healthy and delicious. Honest goodness without the pretentiousness. I used to live on the UWS, haven't had the chance to dine here in years. I was so thrilled that it was just as lovely and delicious as I remembered!"

  • "We arrived late because of terrible subway delays and our waitress took care of us beautifully, getting us three courses in a little over an hour. Food was delicious and arrived promptly. We will definitely come back the next time we are in this neighborhood."

  • "This place is pretty unexceptional. Not terrible, but not great."

  • "We were seated immediately and lucky enough to have a location on the window long the 54th street side. Server and busing staff are top notch. We split a Asian dumpling starter, shrimp and veggie.which was an original concept in preparation. I'm partial to Chinese style dumplings and while different, these were quite good. My partner had the tuna with salad. Nice thick slices of blue tuna with greens and a wasabi based sauce. I had turkey meatloaf, greens (bok choy) and mashed potatoes. Both mains were very good, flavor and proportion were all just right. The turkey meatloaf spicing was perfect, not easy to achieve. Cookie dough ice cream cake for dessert was also good. Good value for the location. Recommended."

  • "I usually hate going out for brunch, because I am Vegan - there are often so few choices outside of a fruit plate and oatmeal. But Josie's had many great options. I had the Vegan Denver Scramble, and LOVED it! I will definitely be back for brunch again!!!"

  • "had a tasty meal here. Not the quickest brunch, but perfect for catching up and chowing down!"

  • "I brought friends from out of town here.. and I was embaressed. Service was horrible.. it took for ever for us to order, and the place was empty. The food was gross - i dont even know how you can screw up scrambled eggs and bacon like that. Overall, it was a shame to have taken my friends there.. and I had to apologize to them."

  • "This is a great, healthy place to eat before going to a concert at the Beacon Theatre. Moderately priced, large, filling, healthy plates. I had brown rice with peas and shrimp which was delicious and my friend had the tuna which was equally good."

  • "Great spot if you want to know your food is healthy, organic, and want veggie/vegan options. Well prepared and nice variety to meet any pallet. Our table ordered pancakes, omelets. All were happy with their choices and coffee was great. Service was pleasant, prompt and attentive without being pushy. Will definitely come back."

  • "Restaurant worked hard to keep our group of 25 sitting together."

  • "Over prices mediocre food. I've never had a tuna over salad that I didn't like until I went there. Not only was it tasteless and unimaginative but it was 20 bucks! My friend had the teriyaki chicken- was okay but it tastes like somethjng that you could get in the frozen food section. And again $20. I can deal with mediocre food but at that price- I'm not happy."

  • "Lots of respect for organic and gluten-free choices on the menu. Seared Natural Filet Mignon Medallions was an excellent choice – tasty and fork-tender."

  • "I ordered the Burrito Wrap for Brunch. I let the server know that I was a vegetarian and would appreciate no meat of any kind in my meal or on the sides. I always let the server know in a nice way my "food issues". Well the burrito came with the the chicken sausage and I did not notice it until I had eaten quite a bit. The server brought over a new plate and this plate did not have the guacamole but I figured I would quit while I was ahead. No one apologized or seemed to be concerned. (Thanks for serving me meat for the first time in over 20yrs). I would not recommend this place at all! Food was moderate at best (when correct) and service was sped up. I would have thought maybe a bit off the bill may have been appropriate. Nope!"

  • "Josie's was recommended and lived up to its expectation. There were four of us: one vegan, one vegetarian, and two who like everything. We all enjoyed our choices. Service was excellent, and the ambiance was conducive for a most pleasant dining experience."

  • "Always good healthy american food. My favorite - pork chop with the mashed sweet potato for dinner - warm macadamia nut chicken salad for lunch - and Josie's scramble for brunch. Service is good - But my pet peeve (in ANY restaurant) is when the waiter does NOT write down your food and beverage order. Mistakes are made even when an order is written down (in any restaurant), but those chances increase when a waiter takes to memorization. So, of course, the waiter forgot to put in for our drink, and also forgot to put in for a side dish. Come on - WRITE IT DOWN. The food is good enough that this won't deter us from returning again - and again."

  • "We have eaten here before, and we have always enjoyed our experience. The food is very good, the service is good, and the whole experience is enjoyable. We have recommended this restaurant to our relatives because the food and service is consistently excellent."

  • "Great service. Thai shrimp appetizer was delicious and salmon entree was perfectly cooked and also delicious. Tofu stir fry was good, but not anything special (fairly typical teriyaki sauce). Portions were generous."

  • "I was looking forward to brunch here having not been to the restaurant in a while....but sadly, the service was extremely slow, the food was mediocre and the atmosphere was far too noisy. I won't be back."

  • "Restaurant has been there for years. Nice place. Well prepared food but everything was just bland. The soup was warm, the turkey meatloaf was just short of tasteless. This place was cool years ago when healthy food was hard to find. Now with all of the fabulous farm to table restaurants this place needs to update to be competitive. Now i understand while at 8pm there where plenty of open tables."

  • "Met here pre-show for Beacon on word of mouth recommendation and was very pleased. Loved the blood orange martini special, the squash soup and chicken salad entree. Menu has so many good choices will have to go back. Especially accommodating to food allergies, with multiple and delicious vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and vegetarian offerings, with everything else to choose from, too. Tuna and swordfish cooked exactly as requested. Only negative was the soy ice cream that was a la mode to a very good dairy free pumpkin pie. There are better choices out there. Service friendly and efficient especially for a busy, full house. Reservations necessary on show night."

  • "I just love Josie's. I've never had a bad meal there, and I've been coming for years. The food is so delicious, but also healthy. The staff is super nice. The only problem is deciding what to order: so many amazing choices! I wish I lived closer, I'd be there every weekend."

  • "Josie's West has wonderful food and, usually, a more quiet atmosphere than most restaurants in Manhattan. Delicious butternut squash soup, spicy black bean dumplings, and veggie meatloaf for vegetarians, as well as high-quality meat dishes. Great juice bar, wines, and desserts."

  • "My friends and I were going to see a show at the Beacon so we were looking for a place nearby to grab dinner beforehand. I did a neighborhood search and found Josie's West, which had some good reviews. I was looking for something for everyone and that is what we found. One friend had the veggie meatloaf and said it was delicious, reminded her of Thanksgiving stuffing. Another friend had the pork chop, which basically was the size of her plate and also delicious. My third friend had the roasted chicken, which she loved. And, I had the turkey meatballs with angel hair pasta, which I really enjoyed. The portions were tremendous. And, the drinks were amazing. We all agreed we loved the experience and would love to go back again."

  • "Our waiter was one of the most helpful, accommodating people I have ever encountered in a restaurant. The food was fresh, clean, and tasty, and the atmosphere was perfectly fine, but it was really the service that made the night memorable."

  • "I haven't been to Josie's in a while and I really don't know why! The fresh food and amazing service make this a neighborhood gem. We enjoyed 20%off wine night and had the Albariño. I loved the unfried rice and the sweet potatoe spread you get on the table!"
