JosieAmazingI have been coming for years and have to say that our group had the best food yet. Every morsel was wonderful.and the service was spot on as well.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful FoodSimply put we love everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated and hip but with a casual vibe. The wait staff helpful and knowledgable and the service great. We frequent this restaurant and the more casual version literally next door and called "Next Door". This sister location is really fun with a bar scene and good casual food. We have enjoyed everything we've tried in both restaurants!
Josie uses fresh, local ingredients and on Wed. adds is a three course "special" in honor of the Santa Monica Farmers Market that is a real value. Other specials are great as well. The food is innovative and delicious.
As you can see we love the restaurant. We think you will too.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMUpper echelonA classic, subdued French vibe and low lighting combined with outstanding cooking make this a go-to restaurant for special occasions. Fabulous bar in the back room, too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed the relativelyWe really enjoyed the relatively healthy fare here. All of us had the fish dishes and found that they were hearty, yet healthy options. The cod tagine was magnificent with really vibrant middle eastern flavors.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen coming here on and offBeen coming here on and off for years. Room is lovely and mellow. Food is still consistently good. Fresh, quality produce and proteins. They still start you off with a complimentary sliver of quiche which is still amazing and yummy. We've been all over the menu and everything is good. Only negative I can say is for someone who has been here several times it can get boring as their menus haven't really changed. It would be nice to have them update their menus with the preparations.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't dissapointHave yet to have a bad experience at Josie. The food is always flavorful and consistent. The Tangines are always enjoyable and the meats are prepared at the correct temperature. The signature to me is always the paring of the side dishes which is always creative and unexpected.
One thing though, the chairs at the tables are a little short for my liking.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Farmers Market menuExcellent Farmers Market menu with original and ceative menus.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything done very well.Everything done very well. Attentive staff, nice setting, comfortable, room was visually appealing. Menu with a nice variety of choices, most prepared in a healthful way. Would go back. Pricing was appropriate for the experience.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really love Josie. It'sWe really love Josie. It's always good. Brought my mother and aunt here to celebrate a birthday--three of four of us had the campfire trout, which was delicious and well presented. No appetizers or dessert for us that night. It's fairly nearby us, and we'll be back.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, even betterLoved the food, even better now that they have returned to the original menu. The bone marrow was excellent, if somewhat small portion size compared to others serving the dish. Main courses could not have been better, especially the pasta with sweetbreads as component to pasta topping. Service was perfect- the kind of service you would find in a top-level restaurant in Paris.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and beautifully presented. But the kitchen had timing issues and there was a very long wait between appetizers being cleared and entrees arriving. More than 15 minutes.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerExcellent food at this well run restaurant. Our dinner was great with a fine salad with blood oranges and a potato fennel soup. Entrees were lamb chops and Scottish Salmon with a Meyer lemon sauce and fresh root vegetables. We shared a very tasty chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Fine service complimented the excellent food. The only drawback is that it is expensive so you can't come here too often.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAn elegant restaurant thatAn elegant restaurant that has great martinis. The food was nicely prepared and the vegetables sides were incredibly fresh. The plates were a bit slow coming out of the kitchen but we enjoyed our cocktails. A small slice of tart was a surprise and tasty appetizer.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery dish was amazing - thoroughlyEvery dish was amazing - thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. Will be back soon!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFound a la carte menu ratherFound a la carte menu rather limited and prix fix items not available a la carte. Food was excellent, however and Josie personalizes the experience by coming out and talking with guesta which is delightful.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our first timeWe enjoyed our first time at Josie, the wait staff were great, attentive and efficient. However, it is too expensive for us to frequent again. The main entrees need to at least place side orders on the plate, the minimum- potatoes. One nignt at Josie equals a month food budget.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Josie's manyI have been to Josie's many times, and I always find the food to be extremely good. The service is absolutely over the top. The problem with the restaurant is the noise level. I wish it were a bit quieter.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time atThis was our second time at Josie's Restaurant and the experience was even better then first time. We had a chance to taste Josie's opening menu, and the food was excellent. Loup De Mer was delicate but flavorful main curse, which the head waiter helped me pair with exceptional wine. The dessert chocolate Pot De Creme was absolutely delicious. The respectful, not rushing atmosphere of the restaurant just make the evening more enjoyable.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatly appreciated the attentionGreatly appreciated the attention to detail both with the food and the service. Best steak that I have had in a long time. Will certainly be here again soon! Worth the price.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe duck was superb as wasThe duck was superb as was the campfire trout. Lots of care in preparation and presentation of the dishes. Starters were delicious also. We had an exceptional dining experience.2/8/2013 12:00:00 AMJosie is one of those restaurantsJosie is one of those restaurants (there are very few) that is worth the expense. It has been on our list of favorites since it opened. Generally, it is Number One. Once or twice a year we will splurge and go there. The food is always perfect. (That complementary slice of quiche at the beginning is far and away the best you will ever taste.) The waitstaff is relaxed and friendly. The atmosphere is warm, inviting you to stay and you can talk without shouting. To sum it up: Perfection.2/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful restaurant withA wonderful restaurant with great food and great vibes!! Everyone who dines at Josie is eating well and having a great time!!!1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at this restaurant. We enjoyed the quiet, relaxed pace of the dining experience. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The food was creative, the entree portions immense. The wine list was fairly priced. The wines we selected were excellent. We appreciate seeing a number of fine wines priced between $30 and $50, in addition to more expensive choices.
We shall return.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMalways delicious!!! a veryalways delicious!!! a very relaxing place to dine.1/6/2013 12:00:00 AM
