  • "So disappointed following an evening intended to celebrate with good friends. Strange service more appropriate for a country casual diner. No wonder the restaurant was oddly vacant on a Thursday night. Waited 15 minutes for delivery of a glass of cava. Server plopped down the drink and without looking up hurriedly pulled out her pad "OK, y'all ready?" No. We'd been waiting for 15 minutes to make a toast to kick off our celebratory dinner, so kindly respect our space. Salads were drenched--and I mean drenched--with a creamy dressing making the glorious greens and fruit inedible. The menu reads wonderfully and my salmon had superb flavor and a creative mixture of ingredients. All food arrived cold. Won't return anytime soon."

  • "Made a reservation here for dinner before a show at the Coliseum. We are new to the Greensboro area, so while I had driven by this restaurant in the past, I knew little about it other than what you can find on-line. The atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. It isn't a huge place, but you didn't feel like you were right on top of the other diners. Both my mom and I had the salad with goat cheese encrusted grapes and wow was that good. Who ever thought to wrap grapes with goat cheese was inspired! I had the fish special and my mom had the pork. My fish was done perfectly and extremely yummy. The ultimate was the desert - a beautiful peach shortcake. A must try if you are looking for a special place in Greensboro."

  • "Small tables very loud unless you like listening to conversations from the tables next to you ! Service horrible-waited 20 minutes for check. Brussels sprouts under cooked-could not eat them and charred burnt on outside. Shiitake mushrooms were absolutely horrible they were so chewy you could not pierce them with your fork. The ribeye was ordered medium and we got a rare steak ! It's not that difficult to grill a steak to the proper temperature ,The manager was told about my complaints and did nothing to comp or offer to fix the problem. &110.00 dollars not well spent! He did however admit problems with a newer chef. So we suffer for bad staffing! soup, salad, two entrees, water and that is very expensive for the quality!"

  • "We were excited to try Josephines again as the first time two of us had a good quick meal but when we returned with friends and family it was dissapointing. Not sure why but four dinners were prepared incorrectly and an appetizers was simply aweful and when we mentioned the appetizer to the waitress she simply said, "that's how it is!" At this point we were concerned and it did go down hill quickly. It may be they can do well with one or two orders but they could not handle a larger table and our waitress was clearly mismanaging the service."

  • "We started with the new flat bread- heirloom tomatoes , crisp new green beans some kind of delicious cheese (they procure as much of their food as they can find locally) and crispy pork skins on top which did not overwhelm the great fresh vegetable flavors.We both had mussels with snow peas ,sweet potatoes and freshly gathered ramps. We did not leave a speak of anything on our plates. It was all delicious. They have an impeccably trained staff who are friendly and attentive but not intrusive. This is our favorite restaurant in the triad time after time."

  • "We choose Josephine's for special occasions. We know we'll love everything or they will make it right. The drinks are creative and delicious. The appetizers ... we always share and its gracious plenty. I never feel rushed, yet I feel well attended. I love that the foods are locally sourced, I see many of vendors at my local farmers market. Josephine's is my favorite place to eat in Greensboro. When I have out of town work associates, I always recommend Josephine's to them. "

  • "I chose Josephine's for a special occasion (a birthday celebration) and it was wonderful. We started off the evening at the bar for martini's and the bartender is very friendly and the atmosphere is great at the bar. Then, we went to our table for dinner and the food at Josephine's is wonderful and many times, they have items you don't normally see on a menu. We had the catfish and it was great!! I would definitely go back to Josephine's for dinner and would recommend it to anyone!"

  • "Josephines is one of the friendliest restaurants we have visited. Right from the greeting by the host at the beginning and the service provided by our waiter who became more a friend than a waiter. When asked he made suggestions,such as ordering the flatbread appetizer which was delicious. We also opted for the cheese platter. Pork loin dish was outstanding and beautifully topped with carrots. The hangar steak was cooked to perfection and very tender.For dessert we opted for the carrot cake which was delicious and moist. The wine list provides many choices . This restaurant is very accommodating and we will definitely return. The only problem was the parking which is minimal. So get there early or park in the street as we did."

  • "I am reticent to leave anything but a remarkable review as Josephine's is my favorite place to dine. I live in Central VA, so it's also a bit of a drive for me.We enjoy the fine dining experience & we appreciate both the careful pairing of flavors/textures Chef Chris normally puts into each dish & the farm to table prep. However, for a $17 appetizer, the foie gras was a grand disappointment. We have had the dish before & I was so looking forward to it. This visit, however, the proportion of foie gras to biscuit was off. The biscuit appeared to be the star of the dish this time around. The roasted oyster appetizer made up for some of that disappointment, as it was spot on & the rest of the food was fine-but the usual wow factor was missing."

  • "This was our first time. We arrived a bit early and sat at the bar prior to our reservation. The bar tender was awesome. He made us feel like he was an old friend serving us drinks. Once we were seated the server was as friendly and courteous. She was attentive and thoughtful. The food was, I cant think of a better word, tastee. The only issue was that a large party was seated next to us about half way trough our meal and they were a bit loud. Personal space is at a premium there. My wife and I both decided that we would wait until warmer weather before going back to sit on their deck....."

  • "Three of us visited Josephine's on Thursday night and enjoyed the wine tasting at the bar which featured several French selections. We ordered a freshly made hummus tapas with phyllo chips which was delicious. I also recommend the beet salad and stuffed flounder entree which comes with roasted Brussels sprouts and mushrooms. One of Josephine's strengths is waitstaff that is knowledgable and friendly. The atmosphere in the dining room that evening was relaxed, informal, and welcoming. Josephine's remains one of my top restaurant choices."

  • "We were going to see a play at 7:30 PM, so we made dinner reservations quite early (5:00 PM) in order to be finished in time. We were actually there in time for the Early Bird Special, so we took advantage of that. The food is always good here. The only complaint I have would be insufficient parking, although at 5:00, we didn't have that problem."

  • "Even when part of our group arrived early, there was no problem. Table was ready and we were invited to relax and enjoy until others arrived. GM was extremely helpful and knowledgable in selecting wines from the outstanding list. Variety of food selections in small and larger portions was excellent; everyone found something to their liking. Even better, there was no push to turn the table, as we met after the ACC semi-finals and shared stories. Absolutely will return during next year's tournament."

  • "One of our favorite Greensboro dining spots. Knowledgable friendly staff. Food is amazing but 2 of the 3 specials were unavailable which was a disappointment because my husband and I wanted those 2 entrees. But plenty of other delectable dishes to choose from. We arrived at 7:30 for our 8:15 reservation but didn't get seated until 8:35. Initally the host had said there would be no problem being seated ASAP but clearly this wasn't the case. Fortunately we managed to stay comfortable at the bar until then as it seemed many patrons decides to linger longer than expected. Looking forward to our next dining experience here soon!"

  • "It was our first visit, on a Thursday night. The crowd was small, which made for a cozier evening (a plus for us). The food was outstanding & the service impeccable. They serve local/regional food that originates in (near?) North Carolina -- fresh & delicious! It is pricier than our standard night out, but this was a special occasion, so totally worth it. It's a must visit. We cannot wait to go back!"

  • "This was my first time at Josephine's. I had heard about the Wed. night mussel special since I moved to the area a month ago. I took my cousin and her husband and we each ordered one of the 3 mussel offerings along with two sides. There was nothing that did not at least meet our expectations. Dessert was a different story. We ordered 2 deserts. Both were delicious, but a little different from expectations. Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable evening."

  • "Josephije's offers an eclectic menu, and they do a good job preparing most dishes. My wife and I both had the french onion soup, and it was excellent. We selected the fried chicken and pork chop for entrees, and both were delicious. Although the dishes sound simple, Josephine's uses unique spices and sauces to make them interesting. My only complaint was that our server disappeared at times particularly at the end."

  • "We usually consider Josephine's to be one of our "go to" options for dining. The food is always excellent! On this occasion, however, they really missed it. The food was only average, but I think that was due to the service. On this visit the service was terrible! Our server had trouble keeping our water glasses full and took way too long to retrieve our beers from the bar. Our appetizers were late to the table and had obviously been sitting in the window long enough to cool down. And, honestly, this is consistent with our last few visits.....the service seems to be going down hill. What a shame, but the reality is that the excellent food is starting to be over-shadowed by the REALLY BAD SERVICE!"
