Located in Roanoke, a charming, historic rural community in northeast Indiana (15 minutes from Ft. Wayne, 1.5 hours north of Indianapolis and 3 hours east of Chicago), Joseph Decuis is the showcase for local farm raised food, and is a gourmet experience to remember. Our menu features seasonal dishes with ingredients raised on our farm (and other like minded farms), creatively and artfully prepared by our Chefs. The heart of the restaurant is housed in an old bank building (the vaults are now wine cellars) where you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time to a simpler way of life where time around the table meant something.   • "we're always grateful to the staff for making our dining experience memorable. Good food, fine service that doesn't over linger, in a setting we always enjoy. Our only frustration is not with the food, staff or space but with other parties that seem unaware of just how loud they can be that disrupts, much more often than just a few times, the rest of the room. It seems no matter where we go, groups of even just 4 or 5 can over fill the room with their noise. I find this to be a pervasive trait across the region and the country. Otherwise Joseph Decuis delivers on every level."

  • "Greeted in a cold/reluctant manner by the hostesses. We felt, despite us being doctors, the "you can't afford this place" vibe from the staff. Offered 2 of their less desirable tables- one was by the kitchen, which we enjoyed. Experienced an energetic level of noise, but given that the kitchen was run with impeccable professionalism/efficiency it was good noise, like a choreographed event. After ordering the charcuterie board and drinks, the staff became more amicable and realized that it wasn't our first rodeo. Drinks were artfully made and the food was fantastic. A nice blend/marriage of ingredients with adequate contrast in flavors, colors, textures. I found the duck to be oversalted, and I like salt, but delicious. Will return."

  • "My wife and I went to Joseph Decuis to celebrate a special occasion. We had heard of this restaurant years ago, but never went due to its distance from home. We were delighted by the elegance and excellent food, and decided that 1/2 hour was NOT too far to drive for a memorable night -- so we'll be back, the wine list was lengthy, and full of so many good wines, I had a hard time selecting one. The cheese selection was very good too. I never had such tasty cheese. Our ribeye was cooked to perfection and the creme brûlée was unique (in a good way) and tasty. They have an adjoining space that looked like it would be a good venue for a wedding rehearsal dinner, or even a modest reception."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary from our first date. We are moving out of state soon, and I've wanted to try this place for a long time now, so we decided to have dinner here. Reservation system was easy to use, and they had us down when we arrived. We were seated immediately. Nice atmosphere, slightly dark, with colorful artwork on the walls highlighted with track lighting. The servers were great and knew the menu very well. The courses were well times and they allowed enough time to enjoy each one, never feeling rushed. My wife got the chicken and I got the Wagu Ribeye. I was a little disappointed in the portion size of the ribeye, expecting a full steak, only getting about 4 oz sliced up. Dessert was the best"

  • "New York and Los Angeles wishes they had Joseph Decuis Farms nearby to supply them. Lucky us, we can leave Ft Wayne and be in Roanoke Indiana in a few minutes to enjoy some of the finest Waygu Beef in the country which is raised a few miles from the restaurant. The food is prepared by their top chef, Aaron Butts, and served by an excellent staff as we dine. The food is so well considered and prepared you will not believe you are dining in NE Indiana. Every bite is a delight. The staff is immersed in the experience with you but are not overwhelming you. Its 5 stars all the way. Very Special."

I was not aware about this when I made a reservation and was only made aware of it a few days before. But not really a big deal. We got to order some things we might not have if it wasn't fixed.   • "I've had so many friends dine and tell me about Joseph Decuis that when the opportunity presented itself to go I was on cloud nine! I could Not wait! Everything was great...our reservation was prompt, your hostess was courtious, our server was professional and friendly. The TIMING of drinks and subsequent food arrival was perfect! Everyone excelled! Food...everyone who eats well has had sweetbreads prepared six ways to Sunday...yours was in my top three! Delicious! Ribeye was fantastic as was the grouper. Dessert..cheesecake was the way it is supposed to be prepared and the creme brûlée and it's surprise chocolate bottom was superb! You went above and beyond our expectation and our expectation was great! We cannot wait to return!"

Service was good but several times the servers came up behind my wife and set the plate down in front of her without announcement. We both had the pound cake for desert and the ice cream was melted and the cake was somewhat overcooked. Past dinnig experiences have been very enjoyabe but was a little disapointed this time."

From the wait staff to the menu selection to the fabulous fusion of flavors we were wowed! Don't miss the oysters, the Holland Sole & the Diver Scallops - even though they are known for beef their seafood is also exceptional! If you love rice pudding - their jasmine rice pudding is at another level! We drove over an hour on snow covered roads - and, we would do it all over again!"

  • "We go out to eat regularly with friends. We choose different restaurants to go to. Several of us had never been to Joseph Decius before. It absolutely lived up to its reputation. Food was excellent. Service was excellent and you didn't feel like anyone was "hovering". The restaurant got busy but the noise level never was noticed. We aren't big drinkers so I can't speak to the wine list other than it looked extensive. The restaurant is more expensive than most in this region, but it is not outrageous -and the evening was well worth the cost. I'd highly recommend the restaurant to anyone."

  • "There were 4 persons in our group and they sat us at a great table near one of the wine "vaults". Our wait staff introduced themselves within a few minutes of being seated and advised us of the evenings special. They were more than willing to answer questions and make suggestions. Our meals were perfectly timed and arrived after we finished the appetizers. The fois gras, meat platter and crab cakes were wonderful! Of course, I love the warm marcona almonds. Each of our entrees were superb. Joseph Decuis knows how treat their customers to a fantastic dining experience. You will leave with the knowledge that dining doesn't get any better and want to return very soon! Try the Bees Knees cocktail, very good."

  • "We requested a quiet table and were happy to note it was the table in the back away from others. The server knew what she was doing, the restaurant allowed us the Chef Choice Tasting though it was not the proper night, the bar fixed perfect drinks and all in all the evening was perfect. With cocktails, the special menu, the pairings of wine, and a generous tip the bill for two totaled $300...but hey, you get what you pay for...this was a bargain."

  • "This is a water hole in the middle of the desert. It's not for anyone looking just for good food, it is special. You get what you pay for in terms of treatment and quality. I'd say for most people it's for a very special occasion as it is a bit on the pricey side to say the least. I had a nice experience there and would definitely go again."

  • "We had a wonderful time and the overall experience was great. That being said, $254.00 for two people is a tad excessive. I would strongly urge you to consider bringing down the prices. This will limit the number of people willing to join you. As I looked around the place was far from full on a New Years eve. Just my opinion, but with the economy like it is I think this would make the experience more of a value."

For that special occassion they had a wonderful fixed price menu but we have been there on other occassions and their menu always has excellent variety.
