Josef's TableA lovely experienceThis was our first visit & all 4 of us were really impressed. The menu was so varied & we all wanted to try different things. The escargot & onion soup rated 5 stars. The entrees, presentation, ambiance & service were comparable to the restaurants where we dine in Manhattan . Andrew and the wait staff were professional & friendly. We are looking forward to our next visit so that we can try some other dishes. We have now brought 5 other couples to Josef's over the past year and each couple has also returned at least twice. The food preparation and variety is very good. Service is also good. The cost is reasonable....actually less than one would expect from food and service quality restaurant provides..

It's not creative or extraordinary, just classical cuisine nicely prepared & presented, in a lovely venue commensurate with the food. It's a safe place to bring out-of-town guests or plan a dinner out with a mixed group because nobody will be unhappy with what they order, & some will be downright delighted. I personally happen to prefer more adventurous cuisine, which is why this review is in a muted tone, but there are times when Josef's is absolutely the right place to go.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Food and Environment!I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this restaurant. Though I booked two weeks in advance, the dining room was full so we were seated in the lounge. However, all this is is a small separate area at the front of the dining room with about 6 tables. I would actually request this next time as it was just as good seating wise, yet less noisy. I went for the three course meal for $42, as this is the price of just the appetizer and entree-this way dessert was free. I had a great and fresh caesar salad, a delicious duck served with lovely sweet potato puffs, and a decadent desert of flourless chocolate cake. The server was pleasant and the food came in a timely manner, especially considering how busy it was. With a group of eight, it was terrific, secluded, attractive, and quite. The presentation of our meals was beautifully displayed. There were various dishes selected and each one well presented, and so delicious. We were 4 diners,and our only complaint was the noise level - it was dificult to hold a conversation among us without having to repeat - an accoustics problem perhaps? WE were celebratig a friend's Birthday.I called to be sure they knew it was a birthday. The host informed me if we came in before 6:00 we could take advantage of their Sunset Dinner. WHAT A DEAL! 33.95 for a full three course dinner and a FREE bottle of wine per couple.The food was perfection.
BUT... one criticism. Two of our group asked for tea instead of coffee and they were told it would be an additional charge of $3.0. That is ridiculous!!!!! Also, we asked for a small scoop of ice cream with our fabulous apple strudel and there was a $2.50 upcharge per scoop.
