I originally thought Jo's was American cuisine but it turned out to be Asian, what a surprise! The whole fish was cooked to perfection and the shrimp fried rice was a meal in itself. The most outstanding dish was the mussels, it was a huge portion so it took a while to dig down and get to the curry sauce which was one of the best I've tasted. This is a real winner in a funky Nolita space.

All around a superlative eating establishment. I took a date here and wanted to impress him. it turned out to be one of the best dates. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and patient. the food is flavorful and terrific. the ambience is romantic for dinner, even though lunch and brunch must also be quite an experience.

Always fun to dine in the company of celebs! My favorite spot to hang out in NYC - Johnny & Co. do a fantastic job at fusing east Asian cuisine with classics. The Chicken & Waffles ice cream dessert is amazing! Who knew?!!! Can't wait to stop by on my next trip to the big apple

I went with my boyfriend for dinner around 7:30p. PERFECT timing. Parking on the block opens up at 6 so finding a spot was not an issue at all. If not for the road block, I would have parked directly in front of the restaurant. There was only one other couple dining when we got there. Lighting was nice and low, music was at a nice level. The waiter was attentive without being annoying. Food was delicious. I may go back to try the dessert. Chicken and waffle ice cream sandwich? Sounds like a must.

We enjoyed an intimate Thanksgiving for two at Jo's. The food was OUTSTANDING - four amazing courses, each better than the last. The atmosphere was great - really chilled and calm, not too noisy, staff were attentive but not in the way. Will definitely be back to enjoy a drink at the bar.

Jo's used to be one of my fav neighborhood spots for very well-executed classic American fare-- a stunningly good caesar salad and perfectly grilled steak or chicken under a brick-- simple comfort food. Now the chef has put southeast Asian touches on everything, and not to the benefit of the diner. Mushroom dumplings in a thick dough envelope were disappointing, a hamburger "bahn mi" had too little of the Asian slaws and the brioche bun-- rather than a baguette that adds the needed texture to the soft meat-- turned what should be an interesting dish into mush.

Most of the food is very well prepared, but the menu has lost some of its diversity, unfortunately. Bring back the spectacular caesar salad. Also, someone needs to tell the pastry chef that 5 chocolate desserts (and nothing without chocolate) is a bit of a bore.

The food was excellent. We had chicken was perfectly cooked and very tender and a burger which was very good also (although a bit hard to eat because it was so big/tall). There's a good drink menu with interesting and delicious drinks (they're on the smaller side though). The atmosphere is really nice with low lighting and brick. The server was very attentive, but not overly so and was very pleasant and helpful. Everything was great and I'm definitely going back!

We used a $65 4-course tasting menu with wine pairings for two Rue La La deal, and it was well worth it. With its purposely worn dark wood floors and booths, flattering lighting and energetic noise level, the place has a warm, casual vibe. Nevertheless, the food and service were of a quality I would associate with a more formal and expensive venue. I was particularly impressed by the intense flavors of the scallop dish and the sliders and with the four marvelous wines. As each course was brought out, our waiter described its ingredients to us in detail. Overall, the food and service were so good that I soon forgot that my seat was somewhat uncomfortable, the timing of the courses seemed a little rushed, and the place was a bit too noisy.

Did a wine pairing/tasting menu. The wines were wonderful and ranged from a Reisling to a Prosecco. The cheese plate was fabulous, the beet and kale salad refreshing and the portobello sliders amazing. The only dish I didn't love was the scallops, but I don't generally like them. Overall a fantastic experience and I'll be back.

The food is excellent and reasonably priced, particularly for the neighborhood. This was our second time at the restaurant in two weeks, because of the food. The atmosphere is also really fun; the front room is an often noisy but vibrant bar; the surprisingly large back room, which feels very open and has nice high ceilings, is the dining room. The service was casual, attentive and friendly -- a nice combination. As we (a group of five) were leaving after midnight on Saturday, the manager mentioned that the kitchen is open till 1 a.m.

We had a wonderful dinner on New Year's Eve at Jo's. The scallop appetizer was truly amazing. I had the mushroom risotto and my husband had the shell steak. We were both very happy w/ our meals. The fries that came with the steak were especially delicious. We also shared the brussel sprouts and they were great too. My only complaint is that no one told us what the specials were. We saw them on a chalkboard on the way out. Oh, and they were out of the churros dessert we had wanted to try. We will definitely go back, though!

I had first read about this restaurant and suggested a friend that we go. However, the reviews about the staff with attitudes put her off. I waited and went with someone else and am glad I did. The food was great, the staff were LOVELY and the space really interesting. Go. I don't know why other reviewers were hard on the staff. We did not go on a weekend but we were there the week before Xmas and it was packed. Still, we had a fab waiter and really enjoyed the space and the food. The layout is interesting in that the restaurant is sandwiched between two bar type areas. The general bar area in the front is big and nice for a drink when waiting for a table, the back bar might be for parties. It is def worth a go!

We had brunch here. There isn't much selections, it was a simple menu with your basic brunch items: eggs, pancakes, french toast. No frills. The food was ok, nothing spectacular, and nothing memorable. It's something one can make at home. If you want someone to cook for you and you live nearby, then it's your place to go. I wouldn't make any special trip to come here for brunch.
