My dinner was good, not exceptional. The plate itself could have used more color, whipped Potato, Baked Haddock, and Summer Squash. I would have appreciated a choice of vegetables, such as green beans, broccoli etc. The mushroom appetizer was excellent, and so was the crème brulee. My server , Jen, was friendly, helpful, ( we had a gluten free diner), and pleasant. Vicky Monroe was very good, as usual, but the room was over crowded.

The atmosphere was very nice. The outdoor lights were also very nice to look at, as was the entire restaurant. The noise level was a bit much for us (Piano and horn) was hard to talk o each other. For the cost of the plate , I would have liked a salad and choice of sides (mashed potato and zucchini only choice). Wait staff was very attentive and professional.

Went to Johnathans for dinner and a show. Our waiter Marvin was excellent, the wait time was reasonable. The food was good, not great but not bad either. Would recommend this for a dinner and show package as they give you discounts on the food.

We had called TWO months PRIOR for a dinner reservation. When we arrived, they told us to wait. In fact, another couple who just walked in and were a bit insistent on a table and not wanting to wait at the bar, were seated about the same time. Then there seemed to be confusion about who would be our server. We sat for awhile at the table with just water and then our server slowly got into the swing of his job. This is frustrating because dining should be a graceful act and not cause angst among the guests. And, a bit overpriced on the entrees for the portion.

This is a family run restaurant using a business model from long ago that has fallen way behind the times. Service levels are extremely poor here, with no dining room management presence the entire evening. Forgetful, sloppy and rough around the edges. Once their current customer base (65+) moves on, they are going to need a complete makeover to stay in business as this is the only segment they appeal to. A very bright and sterile dining room offers a plastic covered menu from the 70's that try's to be upscale but would be boarded up if it had to compete in the real restaurant world. On the plus side, the bar area is retro chic with great entertainment both downstairs and up. The location is perfect prior to a show at the Playhouse.

We were vacationing in Ogunquit and looking for a quiet place to have a nice dinner and Jonathan's fulfilled our request. The food was tasty, nicely presented and well portioned. I highly recommend the salmon; delicious. Steak tips were very tender as well. Service was attentive and the dining room was quiet enough to be able to have a conversation while enjoying dinner.

This was a dinner to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. I was under the impression that when I made the reservation and I was asked if this was a special occasion, I assumed I was asked for a reason. Why was I asked when I made the reservation? I'm glad my family and decided to order dessert and have a candle on it so that we could sing "happy birthday". My mom didn't notice us scrambling to get this accomplished, so it all worked out beautifully.

Have been here three or four times before. Open table took and confirmed our reservation. Checked in when we arrived....then confusion ....names called but no one responded (think most were in bar but no one checked)....noticed while we waited to be called for our table that others came in without reservation and were seated before us (overheard two couples who came in after us and were seated before us indicate the did not have a reservation) Otherwise highly recommend. Food and service was excellent. Will return again.

Well putting into words our poor experience will over consume the 750 characters allowed so I will simply say this was completely disappointing dining at Jonathan's . The food was only warm, the service was quite poor and the waiter was pushy in telling us we didn't need to look at the menus, he would tell us what we wanted...then the waiter was scarce all evening and we had to flag done someone else to receive our check. If I could give zero stars I would.

The food was excellent and the restaurant was very comfortable. Service was very good. Our only complaint was that the music was too loud so we couldn't have normal conversation. The live entertainment was in another room but it was still very hard to communicate. It really was overwhelming enough to want to leave earlier and not linger for dessert or coffee.

this was my third dining experience at Jonathan's. I had the same thing each time because it was so good....the eggplant neapolitan. The little soup cup was excellent and just enough for an appetizer. The wine selection is good especially the Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. Wish the pinot noir selection was better i.e. Carmel Road or Frei Brothers. All in all a very pleasurable meal.

This is the second time I went to Jonathan's. the first time was last year while visiting ogunquit. it was so nice, i decided my husband and I should try it again for dinner. WHAT A MISTAKE!! the food was awful! not sure how a restaurant can go downhill so fast. my husband ordered the spicy lamb with pasta. the pasta was not spicy at all. the pasta was dry and not flavorful. I in turn had the "special" that night -- 7 ounces of poached lobster which was served with mashed potatoes and some type of veggie medley. Very bland to say the least. To top things off, we had a gift card which we were using for the meal. The unprofessionalism of the staff in trying to figure out how to use the card was so bad we will never return.

What a lovely way to spend an evening - dinner and then live music for the venue upstairs. My husband and I were seated by the glass-windowed wall that looks out onto a pretty wooded area. Dinner began with the Lobster Bisque, and while it was very good, it was the samples of a new vegetable soup (compliments of the chef) that was far more outstanding. Hope they get it on their menu asap! I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel, which was fantastic. I also loved the dreamy comfort food mashed potatoes! My husband ordered the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle, and it was OUTSTANDING! (I will also be ordering it next time.) We look forward to returning. I highly recommend dinner and a show for a memorable evening at Jonathan's in Ogunquit, Maine!

The food was very good. The Volcanic shrimp appetizer was a nice twist on standard coconut fried shrimp. Both entrees were served hot and they were described in the menu. The quality of the ingredients and taste were very good. We sat near a large group so they were a bit noisy but it didn't ruin the meal. Our server was efficient, but not very friendly. They had entertainment in the bar when we stopped in for an after dinner drink. The bar a very relaxing vibe, but the bar tender was not very attentive, but again for our purpose it was just fine.

First trip to Jonathan's was a mixed bag. We liked the ambience, live music, and the food was expertly prepared. On the other hand, noise level was high and our service was terrible! We were a bit disappointed. In the past we had some fabulous meals there. It wasn't terrible, but we did feel that it wasn't really worth the price of the check, and we ordered moderate priced items. It was immediately after a performance at The Ogunquit Playhouse and maybe the rush of guests all at once was more than they could handle. The wait staff was very congenial , but not as effecient as they could have been. We will try it again , but probably not in the near future.

Jonathan's is really meant for the 50+ crowd looking for fairly boring run of the mill type seafood dishes or steak. Extremely overpriced for portions (4 medium-sized shrimp for $10.50) and nothing on the menu sounds particularly interesting. The service is good and what they do offer is prepared well, but this is not a place for foodies, especially when there are much better restaurants in Ogunquit.
