  • "I had heard a lot of great things, so maybe I came in with high expectations. The ambiance was ok. Service was good overall even if our waiter was a bit brash. I expected a lot more from the food especially. The tuna appetizer was fantastic, but the main courses left a lot to be desired. I had scallops with mango chutney. The mango pieces were cut way too big to be eaten with the scallops, and tasted as if they had fish sauce squirted on them. Scallops were greasy. My husband had the halibut and it was just ok as well. We won't rush back."

  • "Overall, the experience was as expected, very good. The only downside this time was getting seated. We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated over ten minutes late. Not sure why, as there were quite a few open tables where we were seated."

  • "Great restaurant. Fresh fish, excellent chowder, prompt service. Only complaint is that the children's portions are too big."

  • "I typically go there for the oysters, the oysters are on the half shell and the ambiance is very nice. Friday 3/28/2014. Oysters, the East Coast Blues were good, the Apolachicola's lacked flavor, but overall the oysters were shucked and cleaned well. The main course was flavorless and overdone, The fresh vegetables were very good except the broccoli need to be cleaned better. Service, the service was lacking the attention to details. No Bread service until we asked, waitress was non-existent and got things wrong the first time. But I still gave the service as Good because of the previous times I've dinned there the service was spot on."

  • "We have gone to Jonah's every year for our anniversary for many years now, and it is wonderful! On the menu, our name is printed right at the top with "Happy Anniversary". I keep one and put it in my scrapbook each year. The food is amazing. The chocolate cake that we got from the restaurant for free for our anniversary was so big that we took it back to our room and ate it together later. Wonderful! A great place to enjoy a special occasion year after year."

  • "Had spur of the moment Friday night date night with the wife. Reservations were easy to make. Arrived 10 minutes before scheduled reservation after having difficulty finding parking, the hostess sat us at a table immediately. Food, drink, and service were good. The atmosphere definitely reflects the menu price. Highly recommend"

  • "Got a confirmed reservation that was requested for Oyster Bar then told when arrived first come first serve for Oyster Bar. Ordered appetizers. Crab dishes had no crab detected. All breading. Calamari was good. Shrimp cocktail was great. Felt was very overpriced. Main disappointment was no room in Oyster bar river view room."

  • "I've eaten at Jonah's many times over the years. I have thought that the last two times I've been there that the quality was not as good. Maybe new ownership or new chief. Cesar Salad was served in ice cold bowl and lacked dressing. Fish was very dry. Cream cheese served with bread, had to ask for butter. Not sure if I will return again."

  • "Service was good. Waiter made good suggestions. Throughout the evening he was attentive without being annoying. Salmon and Tuna were both very good. It was probably one of the better meals I've had in the Peoria area for some time. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars rather than 4 is because Jonah's is a very nice casual restaurant, not an over the top luxury experience, and I appreciate that. It is a relaxing atmosphere. Jonah's had been hit and miss over the last couple decades. This meal puts them back on top."

  • "Surprised my wife for Valentine's day at Johans. Good atmospher, good food, great service. We started with an appetizer, fried oysters. 3 med. oysters $10.00. I had a very small stake and small bowl of augratin potatoes. My wife had some shrimp stir fry that had 6 good size shrimp in it. A couple of beers and a couple of glasses of house wine we were over $100.00. Very over priced. We have been there before but don't remember paying this much."

  • "The meal we expierienced on Friday was by far the best we have had all year and we eat out every weekend. The waiter Jay was actually on of the best I have ever seen and added to the overall dining expierience. this wasn't our first time at Jonah's but it was a great reminder why we keep coming back. Great Food, Great Service and affordable."

  • "The food was terrible. I've been to islands, I know how fish is supposed to be, but that was no where close. My favorite item was taken off the menu and I know they jacked up the prices for that night. The waitstaff only wanted to get people in an out. They didn't care how you were treated. My glass was not refilled and the waiter didn't care at all about us, they seemed more inclined to serve alcohol to everyone rather than answer questions."

  • "We went to Jonahs for Valentines Day which was also our anniversary. We got right in (made reservations on open table). Were not used to paying a lot of money for dining out but this was our anniversary . My wife ordered the filet and king crab legs and I ordered the filet and scallops. Salad was good but had to remind the waitress to bring us our complimentary bread. Filets ok size not much flavor. Crab legs not so king. I had 1 1/2 scallops on my plate for an extra 11.00. Didn't feel to good about that. Overall for price and what we had and taste , hate to say not going to recomaend or go back. We did get a free piece of cake for our anniversary. That was nice."

  • "We were expecting a more romantic atmosphere for the prices, but it had a more off the docks bar feel with fancy food for service. It was nice for getting together with family or friend groups, but not an anniversary dinner."

  • "Jonah's has been my favorite restaurant for 18 years! My husband and I go for the fabulous atmosphere, incredible quality of seafood, and the remarkable service. We have never had a single complaint. On our last visit, we decided to venture out of our comfort zone and try the monkfish dishes on the specials. Not only was this more affordable than our usual dishes of lobster and king crab legs, but it was delectable. We drive almost forty minutes to dine at Jonah's, and it's worth it each and every time."

  • "My wife and I ate at Jonah's for our anniversary. Night started off uncomfortable with hostesses whispering to each other in front of us as we waited at the podium to be seated. We were seated near the fireplace which was a plus on a cold night. The service was not up to par. We waited a great deal of time between each course of the meal. The waiter forget to order my second drink until I reminded him. The biggest surprise of the evening was when the waiter brought the check and apologized for the subpar service. He pleaded with us to not leave him a tip. I told him that I could not do that because it was apparent that he was very busy with a few large tables. His apology was very refreshing and ended the dinner on a positive note."

  • "Once again I thoroughly enjoyed eating at Jonah's. Food is amazing, just wish portions were a little larger. But it did leave room for the gigantic piece of birthday cake they brought after the meal. Will visit again, and again!"

  • "My fiancée and I went to Jonah's on New Year's Eve at 6:30 and the place was packed. We were approached by our server quickly and got our meals and drinks more quickly than I expected given the occasion. The food was cooked well and the noise was at a level where I could have a normal conversation without speaking loudly. Overall the experience was enjoyable and I would go back for more special occasions."

  • "This was the third time we have gone to Jonas to eat. The first two times we went for lunch. The food was pricey but it seemed acceptable. This time we went for New Years eve. My Son ordered a scallop dinner with fries a cup of soup and a Cherry coke. The cost for his Dinner was aprox. $32.00 dollars. For 4 scallops. Really. My Fish was really dry and very fishy smelling. With little flavor. My wifes dinner was average at best. We may try lunch again sometime , but then again maybe not."

  • "Made reservations for 8 pm. Arrived at the restaurant around 745 pm. Told would be seated around 8 pm. At 8:10 pm went back to the hostess stand and asked how much longer because no one else was waiting for a table. When we checked in they deleted our reservation instead of checking us in. If I had not gone up to the hostess stand to find out how much longer - we would probably still be sitting there and the only thing we got was "Sorry for the mix up". We have been to Johah's Oyster Bar several times and never any problems there. Hope the hostess learns how to operate the computer so that they don't start losing customers."

  • "Visited for early (5:15 pm) dinner on New Year's Eve. Restaurant was already fairly busy but we where seated promptly. Waitress was friendly and helpful with my wife's questions regarding gluten free selections. We started with an order of calamari which was rather bland and texture was soft rather than firm. For main course my spouse ordered swordfish, which was cooked correctly, firm and had a very clean, fresh taste. As a side she ordered rice after a very appealing description by the waitress. My King Crab was a big disappointment. Soft texture with strong smell. Only finished about 1/2 the one pound order. Daughter ordered fried shrimp which was Ok (not great). Food just didn't match the service or the view."

  • "This is our 3rd year here -- we come once a year to make the 2 hour drive from Naperville. WELL worth the drive! Food is wonderful, service was great. Both soup/salad and a side come with each meal and the Sweet Potatoes Au Gratin are to DIE FOR!"

  • "friendly greeting upon arrival at the host/hostess desk, we were running late for our reservarion and had recieved a call from Jonah's to confirm a new arrival time. We were seated almost immediately and our drink order was taken. We had 4 in our party so we ordered 4 differrent appetizers and shared amongst each other. Every appetizer was just that appetizing. I had the shrimp jumbalaya with a side of bay scallops. Both were fantastic. I even managed to get my wife to try the scallops (she says she doesnt like scallops). She loved these. Every member of my party was more than satisfied with our meals. No matter why you are visiting Jonah's you MUST try the clam chowder it is simply the best."

  • "We are located closer to Springfield, but with nothing in Springfield worth our time, we decided to try Jonah's at my sister's recommendation. My wife loves oysters, so we went early and she had a plate of oysters at the oyster bar. Excellent décor and ambience. Bar was very nicely designed with a very helpful staff that even satisfied my wife's taste in wine. We then proceeded to the dining area and were waited on immediately. The only complaint I had was that we came after sunset and really didn't have much of a scenic view. The Peoria nighttime lighting was nice, but I think would have been better during daylight hours. Appetizers were delicious, entrée was even better. Price was fair for the meal and the atmosphere. Music a bit loud."

  • "My wife and I dined at Jonah's to celebrate our anniversary. From the small details of having our name on the menu...to the excellent dinner....it was a great evening. The king Crab Leg dinner and Tasmanian Salmon were both delicious, well prepared and there was plenty of it. Service was very good."

  • "We drove from Bloomington, IL and it is well worth the drive for excellent fresh seafood. Even though it wasn't a special occasion, Jonah's is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Our Server provided excellent recommendations and service. The homemade Crab Rangoon was the best we have ever had and the Clam Chowder had clams in every single bite! A very relaxing dinner that spanned over 1 1/2 hours. Great atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I have dined at Jonah's for special occasions for 8 or more years and always enjoyed it. Something's changed. In past have been greeted warmly, but not even a smile this time. When making the reservation, I'd asked for a window seat. Three were available but not seated there. Two were still available when we left. Food was very blah. Caesar salad had very little flavor, even of garlic or Parmesan. I've had better at Red Lobster or Outback. I had Sea Bass which was $35 and not worth it. Baked potato was all of 3 inches long and vegetables could almost fit into a tablespoon. Bread and dessert were good. Not sure why, but worst visit to this restaurant ever."
