My Birthday LunchMy group of 5 had a very special lunch at JoLane's. It was a milestone birthday occasion for me! The sunroom is the very best place to sit for lunch, although the air conditioning was blowing right at our table, and when an adjustment was made by one of the servers, unfortunately it didn't help. Bring a sweater or find a table not in the direct line of the vents! Otherwise, our server was SO accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly and seemed to enjoy her job. She even stood on a chair to take our group photo! The crepes were so tasty and the presentation quite fancy. Not to mention the desserts! We ordered 3 desserts for the 5 of us, and then split them up so we could taste-test more that way! Highly recommend the bread pudding:)6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Fresh FoodMy wife and I enjoyed our dinner. The soups are fresh and home made. I am not a soup person, but I would recommend their soups. The menu items are fresh, and flavorful.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGoodieService and food was great for our group of eight. There was something to please everyone on the menu.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistantly very good. ExcellentConsistantly very good. Excellent coffee and desserts.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRelaxing AtmosphereWe decided to dine inside since we liked the ambience better inside. It was very calm, quiet and relaxing and we could carry on a converstion easily. Our server was very attentive, professional and efficient. The food was amazing. The soup was served piping hot. The taste and presentation of the main dishes was excellent. There were four of us and we each got something different. We were all vey pleased with our selections. The dessert selections were equally delicious and unique. This was our first time here and we will definitely come back to try some of the other selections on the menu.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, reasonable priceWe had a group of 13 and the service was good and the orders came out hot and at the same time. Loved the orange glazed salmon.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood foodWe were a group of 6 for a pre-Mother's Day dinner. There were several other groups that night as well. Even with all the groups, the service was very good. Everyone in out party enjoyed their meal. I enyoed sitting in the atrium as it provides a more open feel.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNorthShore downtown type restaurantGood Austrian German themed foods with fresh fish thrown in. Bakery goods like in Vienna. Quiet, private tables. Portion sizes are just right.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantConsistently excellent food and service

Lots of parking, easy to get in and out. A beautiful and clean resteraunt.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can enjoy great sandwichesYou can enjoy great sandwiches at Jolane's with a nice selection of a side and soup or salad for a very reasonable price.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is really very good. The food is really very good. Nothing that will blow you away, but it is not meant to be. One of us had a bone in rib eye that was nice. Could you do better at Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill? Probably for about 50% more money. Another of us had the planked salmon which she said was "perfect." Soneone else had the schnitzel which was really nicely done and there was more than she could eat. And I had the veggie burger with a side of asparagus. They make their own veggie burgers (as opposed to frozen) and it was very good. THe asparagus was cooked perfectly. Soups were good and the pastries are outstanding. The service was excellent!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGlenview neighborhood Gem!This place is a great find even though it's not in an area with scenic view. Our server is really funny, accommodating and made us feel welcomed. We were seated in the covered veranda where the bar is located. It's hard to hear each other when the place is a bit crowded.
Everyone was going for the two Wagyu beef burger choices that they found very tasty. My Norwegian salmon burger is delectable. Most had Garlic Parmesan fries but the Sweet potato fries were phenomenal! Two words for dessert: Opera torte. I will come back to try more of their entrees.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlway ConsistentI enjoy the old world Austrian flavor of a number of their dishes. It used to be a tad on the expensive side when they were a la carte for entrees and soup or salad, but now that these are included they are competitive with the neighborhood. Nice wine list, and special half price wine and Martini days. I enjoy their brisket and cedar planked salmon, as well as a great selection of hot teas. I do miss the press/infuser pots though--now just a regular tea pot, with less tea. Yes, you can always get more hot water, but the press-down pots were fun differentiators and you could see when the tea was steeped properly.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was out first SaturdayThis was out first Saturday evening at Jolane's and we were shocked by how crowded it was. Took a little time (4 or 5 minutes) to get a waiter but we were actually approached by two within a few minutes as they were covering for each other while they had big parties in the restaurant.
We had fried calamari - which were good but not a big enough portion. The Bacon Blue Cheese Burger and the Petite Filet crusted with blue cheese were excellent. The garlic parmesan fries were really crispy and hot and could have used a touch more garlic but were still delicious. The burger had good beef flavor and moistness with a tasty pretzel roll. Our waiter served us an extra large pour of wine as our second glasses took a while to be served.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMService was not up to parService was not up to par for them this night. It was very empty so the servers were distracted talking to one another etc. Our water was not filled, our server never asked us about our meal until we were through and the place seemed "unsupervised". Despite that the food was terrific - the 6 oz filet mignon was very tender and flavorful, the roasted potato wedges were creamy inside and well seasoned with a lightly crisp costing. We requested the turkey burger on a pretzel roll - both were moist and the regular fries were crispy and hot. Wine pours are a generous 6+ ounces.1/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIn my own words, which i wouldIn my own words, which i would not choose from above: We have been to Jolane's a couple of times lately and a while ago, and we have never been disappointed.
The ambience is dignified without being snobbish; warm, as in rich wood walls that recall tradition, encouraging delight in comfortable classic foods with a twist of modern presentation. The polite, friendly and easily-approachable staff enjoys their roles as servers, respectful of diners' particular wishes. The fact that diners can wear nice casual attire makes the experience at Jolane's a very unusual experience, combining comfort and elegance.
The fact that I was able to procure a reservation for the first time online was an added plus.2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMUrban Spot in the SuburbsThis place is a great find! Think high-end coffee shop meets wood paneled Pub. Leather banquet seating, dark wood floors, dark granite tables, and if you want a lighter vibe, there is seating in a glass conservancy - something for whatever mood you are in. Interesting menu, but also some safe choices for those who are less adventurous. That said it is a great place to meet parents for lunch, soccer mom friends for wine and desserts, and a nice option for an easy dinner if you find yourself shopping at Abt just one parking lot over.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good restaurant, althoughVery good restaurant, although it's off the beaten path. Food is consistently good at both lunch and dinner. Service is very helpful. They have a decent wine list and you have the opportunity to sample wines before you choose. Wine prices are very acceptable. However, on the last two visits they were out of some regular items -- one was the rib eye which is an excellent choice, and the second was the dressing that accompanies a standard salad on the menu. You would think they would always have plenty of the standard menu items.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
