A word from Johnnys Kitchen and Tap
When you walk through the front door of Johnny’s Kitchen and Tap, you inhale the delicious aroma of chicken cooking in a wood-roasting rotisserie oven. Cozy, casual, and nicely outfitted, Johnny’s in business since 1995, has a large bar that separates two dining rooms and offers something for everyone. We have a party room that accommodates up to 70 people.

Johnny’s is well known for their wood-roasted chicken, rotisserie-roasted pork, baby back ribs and real mashed potatoes. The menu also features steak and chops, fresh fish, pastas, salads and sandwiches. Specials are offered daily and include such favorites as charbroiled fresh fish, Chicken al Forno and Shrimp Fontinella. Johnny’s spacious bar offers a full wine list, a wide selection of beers on tap and an extensive martini list. Don’t forget to save room for dessert-the fresh baked Apple Pie with French vanilla ice cream and caramel is a favorite!

Other dinners included pork tenderloin, barbeque chicken, steak & lobster combos. We all agreed that our entrees were as expected and we took home leftovers. The atmosphere is comfortable and the service, excellent."

  • "Six old friends (w/a variety of tastes and dietary preferences) were all happy. Something for everyone! Hearty and delicious food. I had Mary's Woodroasted chicken (w/peppers and balsamic reduction) and was truly some of the tastiest chix ever. Homemade salad dressings are fabulous, fish, fresh veggies, all prepared perfectly. My friend enjoyed the baked French Onion soup and noted that it was really rich and tasty (not overly-salty as FOS can often be). It's obviously a neighborhood gem -- filled to the brim on a Saturday night. We can see why. Prices very reasonable too. The live duet performing in the bar were very talented. Great musical repertoire. We will definitely go back."

  • "Good food/service - but the manager did not honor the Open Table Reservation. We searched OT for the area and saw Johnnys was listed as having open reservation times. Wanted to try the restaurant so we booked on-line and "got" a 7PM reservation. Busy Saturday. Arrived on time for the reservation - received the pager - waited at the bar just like the walk-ins … finally seated 30 minutes later - after at least five couples without reservations were seated first (we know they were walk-ins because we talked with some as we waited to be seated). Nice place but would not go back ..."

Kid had chicken tenders and the wife went for chicken and ribs way too large for her but you can always take it home ;) Overall the place is great."

  • "We vare long time customers of Johnnys but despite being told New Years Eve the service would be good, we found the opposite and did not appreviate the " mass early" produced food. Our chicken rib/ combo plates were dry,,overcooked .The chicken 1/2 looked like a half of a cornish hen for the cost on the speciall menu. My wine was old and Iweasked 4 times for a water refill. No one came to our table to ask if everything was ok, depsite our waiter walking around just looking at tables It was not busy in our section. With credit card out to pay our bill, we held it until we could get one reflil on water!"

  • "Weve eaten at Johnny's on numerous occasions over the years, including last New Year's Eve, and decided to bring friends there this New Year's Eve since we have always been happy with the our dining experience. The service has always been excellent. Unfortunately, this year our group was disappointed with the food.Two of our party ordered the filet mignon. It had little, if any taste. They ordered the smaller portion, but it was so small you couldn't really taste anything in what turned out to be two to three small bites. Half of the plate was mashed potatoes. A portion of the broccoli was cold-- like it just came out of the refrigerator. We will give it another try, but will more than likely rethink going there again next New Year's Eve."

The beverages were very effective at the end of a long week. The quality of the food was in line with the price and the booth was comfortable. Although the restaurant was busy, it was not too noisy and we had no problem having a conversation. This is probably not a place for those expecting haute cuisine, but a good straightforward Chicago/Midwestern restaurant for an easygoing dinner. We will go back."
