We were in Madison for Ironman Wisconsin and chose Johnny Delmonico's for dinner on Saturday night before the race. Everything from the beginning was fantastic! The wait staff, the food, the ambiance were all amazing. The waitress even knew what Ironman was and that it was happening the next day (which has not been the case in other local establishments we have been to).

Our waitress from the initial greeting to the final thank you and good-bye was five stars all the way. Our son is allergic to milk and it's by products so he cannot come in contact with any food of this nature. Deborah P. made sure all items were screened through the chef for our needs! The service was prompt, timely, and professional. Our wait staff was personable, friendly, and courteous. The food was delicious with a capital "D".

Another nice Anniversary visit to Delmonico's for us...as always. Service is impeccable and food was prepared to perfection. My wife's cocktail came up a bit "short" in her glass as our server poured it from the shaker. We were stunned when our waiter went back to the bar - and returned with the additional amount for her glass. What a super nice touch. The wait staff is always so attentive ! Thank you.

Service, food and ambiance were all excellent. Great steakhouse fare, plus seafood and vegetarian options as well. Only complaint - one wine we ordered from the featured wines mentioned by our server turned out to be $18 per glass. It was very good wine, just wish the server had mentioned the price - much higher that what we usually pay per glass, even at comparable restaurants. Otherwise, a very good dining experience. We brought a well-behaved 3-year-old, and while it is not a typical family-friendly establishment, all of the staff were quite gracious and offered kid-friendly options.

It was a very nice place...however the waiter was all over the place and very busy. Food was good...drinks were good but I can have this experience at a more reasonably priced restaurant. Nothing special to offer. Also...watch your open booth table proximity. ..I felt I was having dinner with the two top next to us.

I had multiple people tell me that the food was great at Johnny DelMonico's but they felt that the service was lacking. So we weren't sure what to expect. However, we had a wonderful waiter that took very good care of us AND the food was unbelievably good! Definitely look forward to visiting again! FIVE STARS!!!

Impressive Spirit selection and Wine lineup. Everything seems to be hand selected and the staff makes you feel at home and not rushed to make a decision. We started with the Oysters (both East and West Cost available) and a Caesar Salad. The Caesar had that classic Steak House style to it. It’s hard to get great Oysters in Madison but they had them. For the main course I had the Aged NY and my partner at the Petite Cut. Both Steaks were superb. There are several great Steak places in Madison but Johnny Delmonico’s Menu, Service, and Ambiance puts it above them all. From the Wine Menu, Oysters, Salads, Calamari, and of course the Stakes this place offers more amazing dishes than other places in Madison can come close to offering.

We had the crusted Ribeye steak. It was a little cold once we got it. The mashed potatoes were excellent but a little cool. The tomatoes basque was incredible and the creme Brule was great but you can tell it was not made fresh. For the 35 dollar price. It was alright. The waitress was unbelievably friendly along with the bus boys and hostesses.

It's a lovely restaurant with good ambience. The portions for Restaurant Week were too small, and the food was not as good as we thought it would be. My partner was excited for a good steak and was pretty disappointed. It ended up being very expensive for not a great product.

Quality of the food did not match the very high price. Despite prices like L'Etoile, Harvest, and other top-flight Madison restaurants and a menu promising extraordinary food, Delmonico's delivered staid, conventional dishes: heavy on the butter, cream, salt, potatoes, and -of course- meat. Alas the petite filet was tough. A menu outlier, Japanese-inflected ahi tuna, didn't deliver on the promised salad (a few shreds of radish and carrot) and was served on decidedly undercooked soba noodles. An intrusive server didn't help. Not going back.

I wanted to take my wife out for our 28th Anniversary It just took way to long for everything....from the waitress getting to our table, to getting our appetizers, Then my wife and the other couple we were with wanted the 14 to 21 day dry aged 10 oz.New York Strip...the waitress had great knowledge of the steak so that's what they wanted...15 minutes after ordering she came back and said they were out of that steak ...we couldn't believe a steakhouse was out of any type of steak...so they ended up getting the regular 10 oz. Strip and it took 45 minutes or more to get our steaks...we did get a apology and got a free round of drinks. and we had made plans to go to another party but never made it because we were just to tired.

Food was excellent - my steak was cooked exactly the way I like it. All four of us were totally satisfied. The waitperson took a long time explaining the options and differences, but did a very good job of it. A couple more fish/poultry/vegearian options (yes, I know it's a steak house) would complete an otherwise excellent menu.

Service was fantastic, waitress was informative and knowledgeable about the menu and came by often to make sure we were doing alright. We sat at a table in the front corner with a wrap around window view that was gorgeous! I would definitely recommend coming here for a nice date night or special occasion!

This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend. And, it's a Food Fight restaurant. So, it must be great. Wrong! On a Sunday, the large amount of business must not have been anticipated. Long delays between ordering and receiving food. When it arrived, my steak was luke warm. My wife's fish dinner was bland. While the chef was more than willing to accommodate our vegetarian's requests, the menu needs more than one (pasta) option. The spirits drink ordered neat could have fit in a thimble. Overall, the prices were steep for what was received.

I ordered the planked salmon. The salmon was flavorless and overcooked...almost as dry as the plank it was served on. The "yukon gold potatoes" consisted of one, tiny, potato which was sliced into many thin, bland pieces. The acceptable sized portion of asparagus was cooked appropriately but, was exceedingly salty. I was hoping to cleanse my pallet with the chocolate lava cake yet, this too turned out to be very diappointing. It was obviously plucked from the freezer and plopped in the microwave. It had a faint taste of freezer burn to it, while the "lava" filling was slightly above room temperature. It was served with a thimble full of mostly-melted ice cream.

and was disapointed again...the Salmon I ordered was so salty it was not edible. Same with the asparagus. Sent it back and the salt was better but the asparagus was BLACK on the bottom (like they turned it over in the hope that no one would notice). Ruined evening- I had to sit and watch my boyfirend eat, then he got to sit and watch me eat, and to top it all off, we were late to our show.

For the price of the restaurant, I expected a lot more. I ordered the walleye, and it was served with the skin on. Walleye skin does not just fall off, so it was a lot of work to actually eat my fish. Not a huge deal but a little annoying. My friend ordered the scallops and was served 3 small scallops as her meal. It was a good thing she ordered an appetizer, or she would have been hungry. My other friend ordered a steak medium rare, and it was served medium. Again, not a huge deal, but still. Finally our server was very slow. We told him, well in advance, that we were going to a show and needed to be out of there at a specific time. We were just being served our entrees at that time. Needless to say we missed the opening act of our show.

Though Johnny Delmonico's has excellent food and a great atmosphere, I think it is the customer service that makes this place great. From the maître d' to the bartenders to the wait staff, you notice a distinct difference in the level of customer service here compared to other restaurants of the same type. The only two warnings I would give is that dinner for two with drinks will probably run you around $150 including the tip. I know that's is more than some people wish to spend. The other warning is that the menu is very meat-centric. Again, I love their menu but if you are a vegetarian, you will have limited options. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will certainly return.

Was serenaded by the sound of a screaming baby for 40 minutes. We have a baby, too, and I am 100% sympathetic to a crying child. Sometimes it just can't be avoided. Two opinions on this particular situation however: (1) It was a poor decision to seat a family with two young children in the center of the dining area with most other tables populated with two-somes. Clearly there were other tables available that would suit all patrons better. (2) The parents could have done SOMETHING to soothe their child, but instead left her in the car seat crying the entire time without even acknowledging her, soothing her, or taking her out of the seat. We left after some OK appetizers, which were not compelling enough to keep us for dinner.
