Old-fashioned steakhouse including showing presentation of the various cuts wrapped in plastic wrap. Also dessert tray. All looked fine but I wsa set on their slow-roasted prime rib. Prime rib ordered rare to medium rare arrived medium. Spouse's sand dabs were basically tasteless. Wine list seemed expensive. Good service.

Chose this restaurant based on the other reviews I read. The staff was exceptional. They were there when they needed to be and the food was great. Would definitely go back again.

Quite literally the prime rib is magnificent. Slow cooked to nedium rare over 8 hours, the beef is tender, blood free and is a sensory delight.

  • We went here to celebrate
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday and unfortunately the service was so awful that it put a damper on the entire evening. The first time the waiter visited the table he shoved a platter of raw meat in my face and then disappeared for 10-minutes. No water, no bread, no cocktail order was taken. We brought a special bottle of wine for the occasion and when he opened it, he didn't offer a taste, he just filled the four glasses all around. The food is very overpriced. It would have to be 'great' to charge these prices but unfortunately it was just 'ok'.

  • We have been to the Whaling

We have been to the Whaling Station many times and had high expectations. Boy were we disappointed. The waiter was not focused and got our orders wrong. The rib eye steaks were okay but not the quality we are used to and particularly not for that price. We asked for two desserts to be packed up to take back to the hotel and when we opened them the next morning, one of them was wrong. Just a very disappointing experience for the price we paid (over $300) for a once great restaurant. I think the errors made by the server really caused the whole meal to be prepared incorrectly and for the night to go sour.

The food and service were very good. Only complaint was the portion are big - we wished the server would have told us the main dishes came with garlic potatoes and vegetables so we did not order a salad and appetizer.
