John Howie SteakMother's Day DinnerOur service was excellent and the food was the same. I had a filet mignon and my husband had prime rib. Both were cooked perfectly. It was a very nice dinner, very enjoyable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service. Great steaks.Excellent service. Great steaks. Wonderful food. The view was amazing. We both had the American Wagyu fillet, easily the best steak I've ever had.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice evening in BellevueWe were a little delayed in getting to our table at the time of our reservation but the manager was nice to come out and talk to us and let us know. One member in our party was a vegetarian and there was a separate printed menu for her. The table side preparation of the ahi tuna tartare was great and the taste was even better. Same with the table side spinach salad. The filet was cooked perfectly for everyone at the table and was delicious. Only 1 error in the evening. One of the vegetarian side dishes, sauté spinach, was incorrectly made with bacon in it which was the way it was prepared on the main menu. They comped the entire vegetarian meal because of that. All turned out at the end. Wine selection very good and reasonably priced.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Went recentlyExcellent food. Went recently for a birthday celebration with a little trepidation, as finances were tight after tax season! We were quite pleasantly surprised to find that on Sundays, John Howie offers a 'family style dinner for four' option. It was perfect for us. I appreciate that John Howie is fine dining without the snootiness in service that sometimes accompanies it. Our server and the sommelier were down to earth, friendly, and obviously experienced without being haughty: thank you!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was outstanding. The service was outstanding. With all the staff in the restaurant, there was no reason for this.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the bread basket to theFrom the bread basket to the service, from the Tuna Tartare to the American Waygu, John Howie Steak gets 2 thumbs up.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMCherries Jubilee was veryCherries Jubilee was very good. We had an awesome time! The service was impeccable (thanks much Reggie!) and our meals were to die for.
The foodies in our group were impressed and can't wait to dine again. Have been to John Howie many times and have always had a great experience.
Let's hear it for working in downtown Bellevue!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNot badAppetizers and bread were great. My $52 filet steak was suprisingly overcooked. The waiter was gracious and got me another one, with was cooked better, but overseasoned. Lava cake was rich, but didnt have much 'lava' in it. I would probably try dinner instead of lunch next time4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThere’s a reason why JohnThere’s a reason why John Howie’s Steak was recently voted Readers' Choice "Best Steak" in Seattle Magazine. The quality and variety of steak cuts is unequalled, and the grill master nailed the temperature for all my party’s steaks. The level of detail in table set-up between courses by both the server and back waiter was extremely good. We also enjoyed many of the old school table side preparations for salads, sauces, and dessert. The bacon tempura appetizer is a must try.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy experience was excellentMy experience was excellent at John Howie. I was looking for a nice upscale Steak House and succeeded in my efforts. They exceeded every expectation that I had.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMTook the family for an anniversaryTook the family for an anniversary celebration (children 6 & 8 years old). Staff were friendly and accommodating with the children. Food was excellent, the Waygu beef melted on the tongue.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellentWas my 21st birthday, I didn't get the table I had asked for in my reservation, but at the end of the night it didnt matter as the service, food and people were excellent. I had gotten a free glass of wine and my dessert was free as well. The people there know how to take care of their customers. The food is so filling I got steak and a side of mashed potatoes I couldn't finish it. I suggest going here its sets a high standard now that i've been there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fabulous night atWe had a fabulous night at the restaurant. we had an issue with the heat of our steaks which was handled wonderfully.

Everything was AMAZING! Loved the crab cakes and the steak tartare, the foie gras dish was too sweet for my liking. The steaks were the highlight of the evening: tender, cooked to perfection. Table side desserts were such a treat!
Brian and the captains offered the absolute best in service! Will come back when in Bellevue again.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall I thought our dinnerOverall I thought our dinner was really good but I'm extremely picky about having my food prepared properly. I ordered the lamb and although it was very tasty it was cooked to a med-med well. Everyone good lamb eater knows it should be prepared rare-med rare. I was sharing the plate with a friend so I didn't ask them to remake it. My salad was over dressed as well. For the prices at this restaurant I expected the food preparation to be spot on! The tuna tartar was excellent as well as the banana foster.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJohn Howie is always a greatJohn Howie is always a great experience. nuff said.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMService was impeccable andService was impeccable and food was outstanding. We had eaten at John Howie's in the past, but this by far was a much better visit. We would have preferred a seat with a view versus one in the walkway, but other than that, it was great.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this placeFood and service is always good. Love this place. The steak just melt into your mouth. We go back every time we are in Bellevue.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Outstanding service.Great food (yes, try the tempura bacon starter), as was expected. Everything from a simple icebergs wedge salad to my prime rib was perfect. The service far exceeded our expectations, which were high to begin with. Prompt, attentive but not overbearing. Accommodating (my wife was given a completely vegetarian menu-what idiot takes a vegetarian to a steakhouse? Me!) Now I need to go back and work through the amazing selection og steaks (Nebraska, Australian & Japanese),3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter have a fat wallet forBetter have a fat wallet for this treat - their steaks are over-the-top expensive and ala-carte. the service was impeccable though!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery expensive, but very good.Very expensive, but very good. My only beef is with the $58 lobster tail that was kind of dry and stringy. This place is a special occasion destination, but they sure make you feel special!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived we received impeccable service. The hospitality, knowledge, and attentiveness were excellent. We had a party of 5 and each member was able to converse as the noise level was moderate. Each person in our party remarked at how well the food and the service were. I highly recommend John Howie for any occasion where quality of food, experience, and great night are on order.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne word: Unbelieveable! One word: Unbelieveable! No one can cook a steak like John Howie. The service is impeccable - attentive, courteous and friendly. After years of going to Daniel's Broiler, this has definitely become our favorite steak restaurant.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, attentive, friendlyExcellent, attentive, friendly service matching the usual high quality of food!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNot the best steak I've hadNot the best steak I've had in my life but pretty good. Get the bananas foster for sure!!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMidweek dinner service wasMidweek dinner service was outstanding and our meal was very good. Nice little touches like amuse bouche at the start and a boxed truffle to take home. Great appetizers and sides; steaks were great. Really enjoyed our dinner.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Prime RibThis was my first time at John Howie Steak, and everything was delicious - the finest and most flavorful prime rib I have had in many years, with excellent side dishes and a wonderful meyer lemon tart for dessert. The service was excellent as well. The prices are really high but once in a while it is worth it.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough this is a steak house,Although this is a steak house, they do a fabulous job with seafood (John Howie also owns acclaimed Seastar Restaurant), so both of us had the King salmon (wild, grilled over applewood) and shared the iceberg wedge salad (blue cheese, Kurobota bacon,). An outstanding lunch! I love their "bread" selection and three types of salt, too. (Murray River, fleur de sel and Hawaiian black salt). It's great having free parking, too.....I'll go here any day than have to deal with the parking and traffic in Seattle!3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a great restaurant! This is a great restaurant! A little on the pricey side, but the food is really good. Try the Tempura Bacon - it is truly an amazing delight! Service is top notch, atmosphere is classy but there is quite a din when it starts to fill up. A romantic atmosphere, but too noisy to be truly romantic.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMClearly the premier steakClearly the premier steak house in the Pacific Northwest. We have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times. we have yet to taste anything that is not exquisite. The service is just right. No hovering by the wait staff yet they are always right there to check on the dining experience. Yes, it is expensive so this is only a special occasion for us. We don't mind paying for the perfect dining experience.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThey are great with kids andThey are great with kids and my son has severe food allergies.
The food is good and the wine menu is nice. The Sommelier directed us to a Washington wine which we loved.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food w/ Phenomenal ServiceHad an amazing steak with a reasonably priced bottle of wine - everything was perfect including the outstanding service. The water glass was never less than half full and the wine was always poured for us. Can't wait to go back!12/22/2012 12:00:00 AMJust the Best!We had a special occasion dinner here... and the staff certainly made it so. We had 7 people and they seated us in a private dining room with a dedicated waiter and a very good sommelier in Matthew. When a recommended wine did not meet expectations, there was no issue in taking it back and finding a suitable replacement. The steak is possibly the best in Seattle, with multiple grades of meat available in addition to creative sides. A thoroughly enjoyable experience11/16/2012 12:00:00 AM
