We tried both the USDA filet and the Wagyu, both were great, but the Wagyu was amazingly tender. The mashed potatoes were addictive. The vegetable sides are good, but nothing special. I also really appreciated that the chairs were comfortable enough to stay and enjoy your meal in!

We had another great dining experience at John Howie. Everyone working there was very friendly and attentive. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu options and made some great suggestions. The Brussels sprouts they suggested were delicious. Our steaks were prepared perfectly and were scrumptious. All the added touches, chocolates at the end of our dinner complete our awesome dining experience.

Going in we knew this place was up there in price, but we wanted to compare it to El Gaucho which we love. The service was great right when we got there but after our appetizers I think we saw our waitress once (we had to get up and ask a manager for our check). Their current specialty steaks are way too fatty and TINY (for $120 each), the portions were described very poorly and the overall ambiance was cheesy (untucked shirts and/or shorts everywhere). We'll stick to El Gaucho.

The staff was awesome and so was the food. The only problem I had was with a rude table behind us that was belittling all of the staff, being loud and obnoxious, coursing, and just rude. Management offered to move us, but I felt like they should of moved them. All off the surrounding tables were annoyed by them as well. I felt the experience I had didn't allow me to enjoy my evening, which I was celebrating my spouses birthday, it was our first time there, and at the end it felt like I didn't even enjoy my food because of one table. Again the staff took care of her birthday dessert, some coffee we had ordered, and some dessert wine. Which was nice, but at the end it felt like it wasn't anything special as I hoped it would be.

I made a reservation the night before for two and had two family members join on the spur of the moment. It turned out great as they were about to give us a table for four and not miss a beat. Everything was delicious and wonderful as I have come to expect, with detail being paid to every aspect of the meal, special requests and dietary restrictions. I joined them using a groupon and did not feel that the service or anything else suffered. The staff is truly professional. I will definitely eat there again.

The surroundings, the service, the food, and its presentation were at its finest. This is probably my favorite restaurant in all of the Seattle area. Everything is excellent and top notch. Great for business dinners, or a romantic or special occasion out. You do get what you pay for at this restaurant. It is an ultimate in a dining experience.

I've enjoyed a handful of lunches and happy hours at John Howie Bellevue. My last visit was unusual insofar as it did not match expectations built on experience. I ordered a steak done rare and it came out medium-rare. This was the first time that I received a meat-based entree not cooked to my specification at John Howie. Service was solicitous and very courteous if not quite as prompt as it had been in the past. I admit that due to appetite and time constraints I did not send back my steak. Still a tasty meal and I look forward to my return.

We planned a surprise birthday lunch for 6 people at noon. Our table was nice but our server was abrupt and did not have a friendly demeanor. I got the impression he was annoyed that we did not order alcoholic beverages. I ordered the Steakhouse Salad with medium rare for the steak. The steak was over cooked and unseasoned which I thought was disappointing for a "steak house". Our server disappeared for quite a while. I had asked for two desserts to be brought to the table for the birthday. The desserts were finally brought with no offer for coffee or tea, which we wanted. One of the guests had to go to the host to find our server to get the check. Pretty disappointing for that caliber of restaurant.

The quality of the food and service was excellent. Prices are fairly expensive for steaks by comparison of leading steak resturants around the coutry. A quality aged but steak runs about 20% premium over the top steak places in NYC by comparison. If your willing to pay the premium you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I decided to cut back on red meat consumption. We found the perfect way to stick with ur decision. We let John Howie determine how much steak we eat each year. The prices at this restaurant are far beyond our means. We now only eat steak at this restaurant and go when we feel sufficiently flushed financially. We have never had anything less than 5 star experience.

I always enjoy John Howie Steak - the food, service and ambiance are always excellent. Our recent visit was another hit: a great wine list with a number of affordable as well as exceptional wines, paired with amazing appetizers (crab fritters were a hit), a great American Wagyu steak and *the* best prime rib in town... plus excellent sides and desserts. Hands down, the best steak in town, and premier staff: Rodrigo was professional and welcoming!

We had Salmon Bisque (on the house to "get our pallettes going") - Bisque-like but too salty. Appetizers - Dungeness Crab and Shrimp Chowder -- too creamy, tasted corn, 2 cocktail shrimp, no crab or crab taste. Iceberg Wedge salad OK. Dinner: Chateaubriand -- Cooked right. They drowned it in the sauce which totally overpowered the flavor of the meat. Sides: French Fried Potatoes (french fries) with aoili dipping sauce - VERY good. Beecher's Flagship Mac & Cheese -- Crusted Topping good. The actual Mac & Cheese pasta in oil (gross). Desserts: Sorbet sampler -- Best thing on the menu. Salted Caramel and Chocolate Ganache Tart -- Yum! (Would go back for desserts!) Service: Waiter rarely checked on us unless he was serving the next round.

The food was pretty good. I had the Roasted Jidori Chicken and my companions had the Rib Eye and the Kobe Beef sampler. My chicken was a little dry (and had a lot more cheese than expected) but the flavors were delicious and the gnocchi was amazing. We tried the brussel sprouts and the asparagus for side vegetables and it was very salty! So salty that all of us struggled to eat it. For dessert we tried the salted caramel and ganache tart, which was absolutely amazing! Our server was prompt and polite and our water was constantly refilled. There were a couple boisterous parties but all in all I had a very good experience.

I had been longing to try John Howie Steak and a must honestly say that it exceeded my expectation. I’ve been to some great steak restaurants in the PNW. John Howie Steak is definitely in the Top 3 if not the best of all. They have a magnificent selection of steaks. The Wagyu beef is especially tasty. The steaks arrive at your table perfectly prepared and seasoned. Their side dishes are stars by them self. The lobster mashed potatoes are a must have. The restaurant also has a wide selections of wines that fit every price point. Service is 5 star. The staff is very engaging and attentive without being “clingy”. The knowledge of their beef and the various preparation techniques is exceptional.

It was the most AMAZING dinner ever! Both the water and food servers (both awesome) recommended the Tempura Fried Kurobuta Bacon with Sambal Maple Dipping Sauce (maple syrup, soy sauce and chili pepper). It was TO...DIE...FOR!! Our palates were cleansed with a little creamy, delicious Lobster Bisque. Mmmmmm! I had the 8 oz Filet Mignon and Maine Lobster Mashed Potatoes. Again, TO...DIE...FOR!! There were HUGE pieces of Maine Lobster in the mashed potatoes which were covered with the same creamy, delicious Lobster Bisque. I ate half my meal to save room for dessert - Bourbon Soaked Black Cherry Bread Pudding (black cherries, caramelized pears, toasted hazelnuts, caramel, and Maker's Mark ice cream). Again, TO...DIE...FOR!! Still in Heaven!!!

I decided to take my wife somewhere different for our anniversary this year, and I'd always heard great things about John Howie and his restaurants. The things I'd heard fell utterly short of reality. The service was fantastic, the food was phenomenal. We stuffed ourselves until we couldn't eat another bite--the food was so good we would gladly of kept going if we could have. We started with the tableside prepared Caesar salad. My wife had the Filet, cooked to perfection. I tried the 42-day dry aged rib-eye steak. It was like nothing I've ever eaten before--exquisite! We shared a side of Yukon Gold potato cakes with Creme Fraische. At that point we had to tap out...no room left for dessert. Simply Amazing Dinner!
