  • Entertainment: When the stage behind the bar isn't in use for live entertainment, it becomes part of the dining room with the addition of a large table, and offer a bird's eye view of the handsome room.

The drinks were on point and the service was good. The chef even came out to our table to see how everything was. We were told that on the weekends, they have a lively bar scene after the kitchen closes. We are definitely going back. A MUST TRY"

  • "Great food with an ample number of selections. Calamari appetizer was perfection. Duck Confit was crispy, juicy and very flavorful. The risotto served with it-less so. My dining partner had John D Chicken-rich, delicious sauce with perfectly cooked poultry. Drinks are expensive due to short pour...charged $2.50 for "rocks"-ridiculous. Overall a fine enough experience that we would both return for another selection from the talented kitchen."

  • "I hosted a work dinner here with 12 people (customers and colleagues). Service was great and food was excellent, every one enjoyed the evening. It was even warm enough to open the bay door to let fresh air in. I had the Salmon special...it was great. The Calimari was the best I've had in a long time (tender, not chewy and just the right amount of kick in the sauce). Will come again!"

  • "The scallop dish I had was horrible. I payed $32 for 4 rubbery scallops and gnocchi that was pasty with minimum greens on the plate. I felt like I was eating reheated leftovers that another patron sent back. The ginger drink I had was watery and full of ice. It was drafty and cold in the restaurant- they need better insulation. I would never recommend that place to anyone unless I was invited back for them to take a shot at redeeming themselves. It looked so promising on their website but the food definitely did not live up to the hype."

I asked for my lamb to be cooked medium rare but it was well done. I couldn't taste the sauce on my plate at all. The risotto dominated the plate and tasted overcooked."

Guess I should have looked more closely at the website to know this... I would just suggest going here with plenty of time to eat, before the DJ and dancing begins."

  • "I took my parents after a Christmas music show. Because the place is small you are very close to the front door and feel the winter each time it opens. In addition, most of the front wall is a door (think garage door) that can be opened in nicer weather. Unfortunately these add little barrier to the cold weather."

They also needed a vinaigrette or some acidity to help cut the fat. -curry tofu was okay, but not remarkable -risotto was good but lacked salt Nice drink menu. The hostess was the worst part of our experience. Not friendly or helpful. Had to ask several times about the status of our table. She wasn't apologetic at all... Our server on the other hand was pleasant"

We all enjoyed our food very much. The truffle fries were outstanding and our appetizers were very good. I had lobster ravioli for my entree and it was excellent. The portion size was just right and there was a generous amount of lobster meat topping the raviolis. The flavor was wonderful. For dessert we had the chocolate creme brulee and the chocolate peanut butter torte. Both were very good. The creme brulee was prepared just right and the torte was quite light with a good combination of the peanut butter and chocolate flavors."

But the couple that joined us had never been. They loved it as much as we did. The surf and turf was wonderful. I tried my wife's rabbit ragu, and it was amazing. Everything was great.   • "I chose John D Bistro because of their fresh food selections. I had no idea how great the meal would be! The service was given with a smile + some humor by knowledgeable staff. The food was served cooked to perfection with a wonderful blend of flavors any foodie would appreciate. Our drinks were a perfect compliment to our meals. The atmosphere is subdued, while not posh...just the right blend to act as the backdrop for the great food + drinks. By far, I'd recommend John D Bistro to friends + family + I'll be returning again soon!"
