A word from John Barleycorn - Lincoln Park
The original John Barleycorn, which opened nearly 50 years ago at 658 W. Belden Avenue, has become a Chicago classic. From its debut as a neighborhood haunt featuring classical music and art slides to its current format as a sports-focused neighborhood bar and restaurant, the core of the concept remains the same: quality food at reasonable prices, a full-service bar with a stellar beer list and an eclectic interior which is both welcoming and comfortable. • "We didn't actually get to eat there... Ratings above are there only because they are required to post. We arrived early with a confirmed reservation from Open Table for our party of six. The hostess said they were not taking reservations that day. She did walk back to see if she could seat us, but couldn't. We were limited on time, since one of us was an actor performing at the Biograph that night, so we headed to the theater and found a place for dinner before the show. Manager Guadalupe Ibarra contacted me with an apology for the botched reservation, and sent a gift card to help defer the cost of a meal. Since they realized their mistake, and seem to want customers satisfied, we will give them another try."
