  • "This is the place to go if you are in the Desert. Terrific food and service. Lot of choices on the menu. Authentic Austrian dishes, excellent curry, always fish. Good Dessert, sorbets and ice cream that are home made."

  • "Très belle table et service impeccable !! Nourriture exquise et choix de vins parfait ! D'après-moi, le meilleur restaurant de Palm Springs présentement ! Décor sobre et très joli !"

  • "I took my girlfriend to Johannes...she is personal chef and has a very discerning palette...she called it her "best meal ever" and I would have to agree. We shared the duck and the scallops off the menu and both were superb! All in all, a great dining experience."

  • "We have been meaning to try Johannes and we finally managed to visit this weekend. Located just off the main thoroughfare in Palm Springs made parking pretty easy. An unassuming exterior gives way to a modern, spacious restaurant. We were seated quickly, tables were large and not too close together. We ordered their version of mac and cheese and a brussels sprouts salad to start and I had the classic schnitzel and my wife ordered the spiced Ah Tuna. Overall the food was excellent although the salad and Tuna had waaaay too much salt - why do they do that? Service was pleasant but a little slow. Will definitely be back for more of the delicious Schnitzel."

  • "Not what I'm looking for in fine dining. Service was excellent but the food style wasn't me. I'm sure if you like that type of food it is great. Not quiet enough, more like a Bistro."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "We tried the new Summer Menu & were pleased with the Classic Schnitzel, along with soup & salad appetizers. The Dining Room has a nice, open feel with large windows opening on the Street Corner, with light & crisp modern design elements. Our only suggestions pertain to food & service. The waitress did not fully explain the $29.95 two course special, and it was not clear what "beverages" were included in the price. We felt rushed to order and wound up ordering from the menu, so the overall cost was probably 25 -30% higher than we had planned. The food was generally delightful, but the schnitzel coating was overcooked & not the golden brown crust normally served, thus overall very good, but not exceptional."

  • "For my wife and I who have eaten at the finest and worst restaurants all over the world; Johannes. is unquestionably the best restaurant in Palm Springs. It is also neck and neck with any great restaurants in Los Angeles as well !!!"

  • "Our party of four enjoyed four different entrees. One of the specials was a combo with a crispy duck breast with lamb chops. Could not have been better. When you go, ask for Barry the waitress. She can take orders from four people who ask for small changes and not write a word down. And our four came perfect."

  • "overall...had a great meal...would return again....very skimpy wine portions. Food was great...cement floor.....noisy. meatball starter was terrific. Only neg. was our server got both our main course orders wrong. They were still good...scallops & pork cutlet."

  • "We had at least 4 people Recomended this restaurant to us and while here on holiday, we had to give it a try. We are going back before we leave."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "As a resident of Palm Springs, I know that Johannes is one of my top picks for dining. The chicken (please, no veal) schnitzel is excellent as are most choices, I had a tilapia on spinach special that was delicious....my only suggestion to diners is that they request the bar dining or the front dining room, there is now a rear dining room that is not special and feels claustrophobic to me( no windows). I am always very happy to eat at Johannes."

  • " I can't believe, in Palm Springs, that they have on of the best Ahi tartar's I have ever had, but they do. The wine list is fine, the cocktails a little better, but they really shine in the appetizers. From cold soups to escargot to the aforementioned Ahi, it really is a treat. The dinner menu is filled with quality ingredients, and in portion sizes that are shockingly generous. The wait staff is knowledgable and cordial, and the overall experience is quite nice. If you are hungry, you must have one of the schnitzel options, it is perfectly fried and tender, and comes with a delicious cucumber salad to cut the fattiness of the fried meat perfectly. I love this restaurant."

  • "The menu offering at Johannes is varied and unique, offering more than just a standard meal. They offer fresh local ingredients excellently prepared in clever flavor pairings. They also offer vegetarian and vegan flavors and offer free range/organic options. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and help to make the experience very pleasant."

  • "Love eating at Johannes. The pork chop was so most delicious & flavorful. Presentation of the meal was beautiful."
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "Probably the most popular dish is the Schnitzel, which is about the best I've ever had, but I urge those who have tried the schnitzel to venture out and try any of their other dishes; you won't be disappointed. This visit, for Restaurant Week, I had the herb encrusted, blue cheese topped beef tenderloin which made me hum throughout the entire meal. My guest had the duck breast which was equally scrumptious. From appetizers to entree to dessert, Johannes proves to be one of the best chefs in Palm Springs. You won't be disappointed in whatever you try."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "Original recipes, well prepared and served. Johannes puts their own delicious twist on classic dishes (I had their signature Wiener Schnitzel) setting themselves up a notch above their competition. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and efficient. If you're planning to eat out in Palm Springs, this is a must visit!"

  • "Food was a reasonable value, but the wait staff acted as if they we doing us a favor, and we were lucky to be there. We were rushed, though there was no one waiting for our table."

  • "Great menu offerings for restaurant week. Loved that they have 3 ounce pour for wine. That way I created my own wine pairing."

  • "Went there during Palm Springs Restaurant Week. My food was excellent. The prix fixe menu was one of the best available, with lots of choices. My friends and I all had different plates and we were all pleased with our selections. Highly recommended!"

  • "Our group of 6 has had this restaurant on our list of 'to do'. We were all very impressed with our 'evening out'. Highly recommend to others and for us to repeat. "

  • "The food at Johannes is always good. Went there with a chef friend from Canada and he even loved the food. The group had the Restaurant Week 3 course dinner and Everything was excellent. I had the duck/Lentil salad for an appetizer. It was unusual and very tasty; just the right size. for Entree's we had the Shnitzel, steak and salmon. All were prepared to perfection. Seasoned and cooked correctly and very good. I would always always recommend Johannes to people whether it be a business dinner, romantic dinner or just catching some late night dinner, it is alway good. The sound level is low so it is very easy to carry on conversations without yelling at each other. The wine list is acceptable and the corkage fee is reasonable."

  • "I have been hearing about johannes for the last 2 1/2 years that I have lived in the desert, so when my friend invited me to dinner at the restaurant, I was excited to give it a try. I had been told on more than one occasion it was the best restaurant in Palm Springs. Although, it was a nice atmosphere, and the menu definitely had fine dining prices and a fine dining menu, overall, I feel it was average all around at best. Our service was adequate, the food was adequate, the bill, rather expensive. I have definitely had better experiences elsewhere in Palm Springs. I would return if invited to go, however would not choose to dine at Johannes on my own. "

  • "My friend and I are trying new restaurants during "Restaurant Week" and the food was spectacular. The service was seamless, the atmosphere was great and the decor was inviting. We had a great experience."

  • "Delicious food, well presented. Great for schnitzel lovers with many variations. The crispy roast duck was exceptional. The deserts looked great, especially the strudel. The decor is elegant and the wine cellar impressive. This is a high end restaurant with the best food we have experienced in Palm Springs and very pleasant servers."

  • "This was always one of my top favorites in PS that I discovered when it was a small storefront about 10 or 12 years ago. Hadn't been in about 4 years but thought it was time to re-visit. Was glad to see that it was still doing well, but having had made my reservation weeks in advance, was disappointed to be seated in a backroom disconnected from the energy of the restaurant. Worse was a large bachelorette party delayed service for more than 30 minutes between appetizer and entree courses. Won't be rushing back any time soon when there are too many other excellent options in PS!"

  • "If you're looking for something different, you can't beat the Johannes menu. For an appetizer, try the Escargo. You can't beat the Schnitzel and the Japanese Spice Crusted Ahi Tuna. The Crispy roasted Half Duck is outstanding. Berry, the take charge person, took the order for four people without writing it down. Surprise! The order arrived exactly as requested. Since there were at least 10 items ordered, all different, how did she get it right without writing anything down? "

  • "We dined at Johannes for our goodbye Palm Springs dinner. It was better than ever. The menu options all were interesting and inviting. I had an old standby, salmon. It was totally delicious, cooked perfectly, with a really light and fresh taste. My husband had surf and turf, and it was really different and delicious. Again everything cooked perfectly and with interesting but not overwhelming sauces. And there was enough of each dish to fulfill your taste buds - a better vaoue than many restaurants. We loved it and are looking forward to returning soon."

  • "We're happy that we won a gift certificate to try this restaurant, otherwise we might have been more disappointed. The food was good, but the waitress seemed disturbed when we asked her questions about the selections. We had to laugh to ourselves when she said that my chicken dish was vegan. Really? Our daughter-in-law stopped eating her salad after she found bugs in the brussel sprouts. She didn't say anything until after we left because she saw the hispanic cooks in the kitchen and didn't want them fired and she chalked it up to eating "organic". We also found the "signs" for the bathrooms a bit disturbing. Our ages ranged from 24-51. The food was very well presented and beautiful, but we won't be back. Locals...all our lives!"

  • "Best restaurant for a special occasion in PS. Ask for Barry, she's the best waiter. Try the Brussels sprout salad. "

  • "The food was above average, but not fabulous, the service was quite slow, and at first, the waitress brought me the wrong dish, even though, everyone at the table looked at my plate and said "what did you order??? We thought you ordered the curry!" But she replaced it and I had the correct dish within 5 mins or so. We will probably give this resaurant another chance, although not quite as good as we were expecting."

  • "We have eaten at Johannes on each of our visits to Palm Springs. However, we were a bit disappointed this time. The food was tasty but salty and the dishes we chose upset both of our stomachs. It was very puzzling because on other visits, except for an outrageously loud and arguing couple the last time, we were delighted."

  • "Could not have chosen a more enjoyable restaurant. From the flat-head trout appetizer to the entrees of salmon w/spinach and schnitzel w/potatoes (both were outstanding), the food and presentation was extraordinary. What a wonderful experience!"

  • "We haven going to Johannes for some years. The quality is consistent on a very high level. Traditional Austrian Schnitzel to Asian curry. Over time we have tasted all the dishes and must say they all are unique and great tasting. The wine list give you a wide variety od domestic as international fine wine to a reasonable price. The service is very friendly and caring. A great place to spend a memorable evening."

  • "First time at Johaness but won't be the last! The food was great and the service was fantastic. I had the rack of lamb (one of my favorite meals) and wasn't disappointed, it was a good size portion and cooked to perfection. My wife had the schnitzel and loved it. We enjoyed the brusell sprout salad for a starter."
